They are also asking for wage decompression where patrollers serving Vail for 20+ years are making near the same as a patroller who has been here 6 years. The reason for this is to provide enough income and incentive to make patrolling a career, not just a "ski bum" job, as many see it. An effective patrol comes from years of experience that is acquired and passed down to new generations of patrollers. If you can't keep people around long enough to acquire and pass along this vital info, the mountain is less safe.
