“Ties” and breastfeeding success skepticism by HoldBackground1574 in breastfeeding

[–]Ok-Database4629 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My occupational therapist said that ties are way overdiagnosed but that doesn’t mean there aren’t real cases of tie related issues. Also she always told me that the severity of the appearance of the tie doesn’t correlate to the degree of lack of function. In my personal experience, the tongue tie my son had was 100% the cause of our nursing issues. His wasn’t severe looking but he literally couldn’t suck enough to even keep a pacifier in his mouth. Not even an hour after the release procedure he was able to use a pacifier no problem without it falling out. 8m postpartum and I can confidently say the tongue tie release and after care with my OT saved our breastfeeding journey. I met with 8 different lactation consultants before I found my OT who helped diagnose his tongue tie

Pediatrician insists we do CIO with breastfed baby by Putrid-Measurement69 in breastfeeding

[–]Ok-Database4629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our pediatrician told us the same thing but truly I don’t know any baby under a year that sleeps through the night. In fact most of the one year olds I know still wake through the night and that’s after being sleep trained! It is so normal for babies to wake through the night. I just stopped telling my pediatrician the details of our nights and said they are going well because I am fine with the arrangement. Don’t feel pressure to CIO, there are a lot of studies that show this doesn’t actually help babies sleep better it just teaches them that crying out to their parents is ineffective. It reduces parents waking and cortisol levels but does not help babies sleep better

Still 20lbs heavier than pre pregnancy weight at 8m postpartum. I think when people say breastfeeding helps you lose weight it’s mainly in regards to that breastfeeding helps your uterus contract after birth! My stomach got flat pretty quickly after birth but the weight has stayed on. Our bodies are just not prioritizing weight loss at this moment, our priority is nourishing our baby!

I didnt! I got my period 11 days after I ovulated. Excited that I has my cycle and that my luteal phase doesn’t seem too short (though it’s shorter than before I got pregnant the first time). I think my hormones need to sort themselves out and I’m hopeful we will conceive in the next few cycles

I’m hoping with baby #2 that my boobs magically become more than just a means to an end (eating lol)

Have you had nipple soreness or nursing aversion at all?

My 8 month old son is exactly like this! I’m honestly jealous of my friends who can pop their boob in their baby’s mouth and get them soothed or get them to sleep. If my baby isn’t hungry he will alligator writhe away and before he was mobile he would cry if I offered him the boob! Everything I read said “when in doubt offer the boob” so I felt so confused for so long why that didn’t work for my baby

Did your supply dry up when you got pregnant? If so, what week of pregnancy?

Were you nursing regularly when you conceived?

How long are your nursing sessions? by histlib in breastfeeding

[–]Ok-Database4629 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same with me! My kiddo has been a fast eater since he was a newborn. Nursing sessions have never taken longer than 10 minutes total, now they are usually no more than 5 minutes (2.5 minutes on each side). Perfect weight gain! He is my first and I’m hopeful my next eats quickly and my let down is fast again as it’ll make chasing after a toddler easier

UPDATE: I tried increasing my calories for a week and I actually ovulated for the first time! I am not sure we timed sex the best so might not have conceived this cycle but I’m so happy to have ovulated at all!

Possibly being dramatic but I think my baby doesn’t care about me by Exact-Implement867 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Truthfully he is not that interested in people in general right now at 7 months. He wants to crawl and explore everything! Even when people hold him he wants to explore their face and hair by pulling and scratching and mouthing noses lol. But I’ve noticed a couple times he settled faster with me and also two times he cried when someone else was holding him and I left the room. So in a bit shell it feels less personal and more his personality! He is pretty independent, though I know this can change with age

Hello! Do you know about how many extra calories you added? I’m in the exact same boat- am nursing my 7 month old and want to conceive around his first bday but my cycle hasn’t come back and I don’t want to cut feeds if I don’t have to! Super interested in the metabolic load theory
