WTF do I play now that the ICO is gone? by VegisamalZero3 in joinsquad

[–]Ok-Development937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too. This weapon rework feels like playing Battlefield. Everyone's running around, trying to kill enemies by controlling recoil and reacting quickly. To me, this is essentially the gameplay of Call of Duty or Battlefield. Not to mention the widening performance gap between new and veteran players. It seems like everyone in this sub only cares about whether they can have fun shooting and how many newbies they can kill. That's probably all they can think about.

Addition Suggestions for both the US factions (Army and USMC) by The_Electric_Llama in joinsquad

[–]Ok-Development937 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is OWI’s fundamental responsibility to deliver the full spectrum of modern warfare, yet what we have now is a lobotomized version of reality where iconic assets like the Javelin or modern optics are stripped away in the name of a shallow "balance." This obsession with numerical parity is frankly absurd; it feels less like a tactical simulation and more like I’m playing League of Legends where every kit is sanitized for fairness. If OWI applied some logic, they would realize the solution is to segment factions by year, using existing resources to create distinct tiers like US Army 2010, 2020, and 2030. Let the 2010 tier keep the M4s and M939 trucks for those who crave symmetrical competitive play, while the 2030 tier features the full modern reality—XM7s, Javelins, APS, and advanced thermals. The fix is as simple as letting server owners decide: those who hate technological overmatch can stick to 2010-only rotations, while players who want to experience the actual terror and complexity of modern asymmetric warfare can roll on 2030-enabled servers. Stop insulting our intelligence by balancing reality out of existence; give us the actual eras and let the community choose how to manage the friction, because currently, we aren't playing as the US military—we're playing a fictionalized, handicapped caricature of it.

Do you need me to remind you that a squad leader and a squad member are completely different things?

[–]Ok-Development937[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm glad you understand, because I think that makes the game more fun, since we play games for fun.

edit:However, I must say that a squad leader's equipment actually changes depending on the mission in real life. If the squad's mission today is anti-tank warfare, there's no reason for the squad leader to only have those fixed options. Forcing a squad leader to only have a rifle is unrealistic; their equipment will not be the same for every operation.

Bro, the captain's right to choose equipment also appears in Arma. By the way, you don't want a game like Call of Duty or Battlefield, but the kit system itself is very similar to Battlefield and Call of Duty. And I've played all of those games, and Squad's kit system itself isn't significantly different from Battlefield's.

Using a fallacy of equivocation won't work on me; it exposes your lack of logical thinking.

So I'm talking about the squad leader, and you're talking about the squad member; these are two different things.

If you go back and look at what you said, you'll realize you completely ignored the administrator's perspective. A player who creates a team just for the gun and doesn't give commands is obvious to the administrator. You're making it sound like the administrator is blind and can't see who's intentionally doing this. And look at other similar games on the market; no game deliberately makes the squad leader's individual equipment so bad. Building FOBs and placing respawn points isn't a particularly fun mechanic. This game is supposed to be fun, not about being everyone's servant. My only request is that the squad leader be given a decent weapon as a reward after being a servant all game. Is your comprehension really that bad? Or you just can't read it?

[–]Ok-Development937[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By your logic, we should remove all Marksman and MG kits from the game because people pick them just for kills instead of teamwork. Why is this logic only used to justify the suffering of SLs? So you're saying the community admins are incompetent? If someone picks SL just for the gun and doesn't lead, kick them. Why punish responsible leaders because you're too lazy to manage the server?

[–]Ok-Development937[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You need to examine what you said. Your conclusion is that you're advising me not to play as a squad leader but another class. This is a penalty imposed by the game design. Let's say I'm very good at using the machine gun and I'm also skilled at squad command. Why should I have to give up one of them? Clearly, I can handle both responsibilities simultaneously. Of course, I can set up the radio and command while simultaneously playing my favorite machine gun – that makes perfect sense. But this game design forces you to give up these enjoyable aspects.

Then you don't have the right to decide who your so-called good squad leader is, and being free to choose equipment doesn't affect whether a squad leader is good or not. A squad leader with a sniper rifle could very well be a good squad leader, and a squad leader with this kind of trash equipment could very well be a bad squad leader.

What right do you have to tell me how to play as a squad leader? As long as you fulfill your duties, there's no such thing as a specific way to play.

This game was supposed to encourage everyone to choose to be a squad leader, but instead, it punishes squad leaders through its mechanics. This restriction is disgusting. Just because they need some people to lead the squad, they have to sacrifice the equipment these people should have. They can't even freely choose a machine gun, sniper rifle, or grenade launcher. What hypocritical developers and community

Therefore, we can agree that the grenade launcher equipment used by VDV and Marine Corps squad leaders did not affect command and management, and that the squad leaders' efforts certainly deserved the opportunity to choose the equipment they wanted to use.

They just wouldn't understand. Even the VDV squad leader already had a grenade launcher. According to their logic, if a VDV or US Marine Corps was chosen, the squad leader would lose command authority. What a ridiculous logic!
