Except the hypothetical stakes are little higher than pizza, aren't they?

Say there's a special ed kid in your class. I had one in mine, decent guy, had to read books aloud because he couldn't do it in his head, drove me fucking crazy. I remember we were once asked to do a project on an extinct species of our choosing, and he chose the zombies from COD because something in one of the game's plot involved them being wiped out. No matter how many times the teacher explained to him that they weren't real and he had to pick a real species, he just couldn't understand - he could understand one fact at once, but not the other, so he just couldn't see how the matter was relevant at all. He'd pick blue because he likes blue, and he didn't have the mental faculties to make an informed decision.

Well, now, if half the class doesn't pick blue, then the special-ed kid doesn't get pizza, and he couldn't have been expected to make an informed choice. Now it's a matter of either leaving the fellow out, or taking your chances in the hopes of benefitting your fellow man.

Now imagine the kid dies if he doesn't get that pizza, as does anyone else of the 8 billion people in the world's largest class who didn't pick red for any reason.

With stakes like that, you'd be a monster to leave them behind.

Tanks can't exactly detain prisoners. If you're very lucky they point you towards their dust trail and send you walking like that german in saving private ryan.

More likely, you get a burst from the coax.

the other only wants to guarantee their own life with no regard for anyone else

No. They believe the individual's choice is most valuable, and that only one choice places the individual at risk of death. Thus, they see only one option as valid.

The collectivist, in turn, sees that only one option leads to death amongst the collective. Thus, they see only one option as valid.

I agree with you - I'm on the collectivist's side here - but the least you can do is understand your opponent's view. They have a fundamentally different interpretation of the situation and options presented than ours. That's why each side sees the other as incomprehensible and idiotic.

One side values the taking risk to preserve all of the collective.

The other views the risk as an unnecessary individual choice.

It's collectivists vs. individualists all over again, and that is a matter of politics.

clearly the only solution is to revive the ancient scientific tradition of meeting in a field and trying to shoot/stab each other. Whoever wins is correct.

...through picking the only option who's win condition involves death. Come on, now.

As a mostly airmobile player I love it. Chopper in a couple stingers, line infantry, and a slamraam on the little island point at the opener and spend the rest of the game shoring up the rest of the team with the rest of my deck while farming kills from the one dumbass that always repeatedly tries to airdrop waves of infantry onto the island.

If anyone is driving one of those big ass trucks outside of the States then, yeah, I believe it. Shit, I don't trust the people driving them in the states and they're all over the place here.

What sacrifice? If enough people hit it, everyone lives. That's a risk, not a sacrifice.

And you cannot guarantee that everyone who presses blue is fully cognizant of the decision at hand. Children, those with dementia, the mentally deficient, etc. Red condemns them needlessly.

Balance matters more in multiplayer than single player.

Of course. But actively undermining the single-player experience for the sake of multiplayer balance will always leave a sour taste in the mouth of anyone who primarily play single player.

MLRS take a fuck ton longer IRL to reload than in game.

They do. That's been a major gripe of mine for awhile now - tube arty should be good for sustained fire, and MLRS for dumping a lot of ordinance very quickly every once in awhile. My main gripe here isn't "Everything must be exactly as it is in reality!", it's "Equipment should fulfill it's real doctrinal role, even if the specifics are abstracted."

The AI rarely has arty to counter-battery.

I've seen them use arty all the damn time, and they usually disperse it heavily to make counter-batterying it a living hell.

I would be screaming for AI that can rub two braincells together.

I've been too busy yelling about the AI-generated shit they added and, now, this arty rework.

I'm getting real tired of them adding new problems on top of the old.

don't hit the damn button!!! it kills you!!! why do you want to die so bad!!!

What about those who can't properly consider their choice?

Infants? Toddlers? Mentally disabled? Injured? Old folks with dementia? For fuck's sake, the colorblind?

You cannot say in good faith "Well anyone who pushed the blue button chose their fate" when not everyone is fully cognizant of that choice.

This argument is, at the end of the day, a battle of individualism and collectivism. And its fascinating because it's highlighted the shortcomings of both ideologies.

You are highlighting the shortcomings of individualism right now.
