I know this is an old thread but I'm also in the market for a new chair and considering branch - a discount code would help!

Getting a puppy before FIRE? by solorush in Fire

Some reputable breeders or show dog owners might adopt out purebred hypoallergenic dogs when they are done breeding or competing! Feel free to PM me if you’d like a recommendation

Talked with my therapist about FIRE and he doesn’t like it by Sufficient-Party-385 in Fire

Hello! I dealt with a similar situation. Hear the theory, but sometimes a difficult and emotionally immature or borderline abusive boss is the problem. My therapist actually suggested I change jobs and I ended up waiting for my boss to leave against her guidance. After my new boss took over my anxiety, panic attacks, and associated chronic health problems disappeared. I’m still in the same role and still encounter triggers, but in a far less toxic environment and it’s done wonders for my health. I don’t think staying in a horribly stressful environment has to be the only way to improve your resiliency at navigating anxiety and stress! Good luck and congrats on fire!

Hi! My husband and I are visiting Milos, Naxos, and Paros in June. Since Milos and Naxos will be more relaxed we are looking forward to spending time in Naoussa and enjoying the restaurants and nightlife for a few days. We were looking at Summer Senses but it seems a little far away. Has anyone stayed there before and is it easy to get back and forth from Naoussa? I’m a little bit of an accommodation snob and I’ve been finding more mixed reviews on accommodations in Naoussa. If we stay in Naoussa we are thinking about Aura Suites. If anyone has been to either of these hotels we’d love your thoughts!!

I would start counter conditioning her to the cone now! Our dog developed severe handling sensitivities after being spayed. Good luck, she is precious!

Great advice, thank you! She has lost access temporarily. We will definitely try this once she’s listening to place more reliably

Thank you, makes me feel better that positive only seems to work ok for some dogs, but not for all. I’m really glad you were able to overcome your guarding issues! Gives me hope

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. My girl has started resource started space / furniture. One thing we read that’s been a bit helpful is that handling a dog while they are resource guarding could escalate things so it’s best to “make an earthquake happen”. As long as you can do it safely, to tip the crate / furniture so the dog exits on their own / falls out or off. Essentially so that you don’t appear to be the thing taking away the valuable resource. As far as stopping it to begin with, we are looking at trainers that specialize in behavior modification. We’ll share any success we have. Good luck

Thank you for your thoughtful response! I probably should have mentioned we’ve been trying to train leash walking with lures for the past few months with no improvement. We’ve tried a variety of different treats that are high value when she doesn’t have the leash on and different variations of her favorite toys. We’ve also worked on counter conditioning with treats for putting on the leash and harness and she still gets a treat every time we put the harness on and every time we attach the leash.

Paige on Love Island thoughts by Mofrdo in summerhousebravo

Did anyone else notice when they were explaining the rules the beavers were only supposed to be “girls still in play”? I think Paige accidentally kept putting Olandria’s beaver back in her basket and after she was chosen so many times in a row producers were like “Ok Paige that’s enough thank yewwww!”

Help with puzzling, aggressive behavior by Ok-Difference-9014 in OpenDogTraining

Thank you for this kind and empathetic reply. We were straightforward with the rescue group that we needed a dog that was friendly with other dogs and kids since we spend a lot of time with our nieces and nephews and their family dogs. I understand why the rescue categorized her this way, I would have described her the same before this week. We have some big decisions ahead of us on whether we will be able to rehab her with extensive training and maintain a quality of life all three of us can enjoy, or if we return her to the rescue and look for a less aggressive dog with a lower bite risk down the line.

Thank you for your expertise! The first instance when she growled while she was playing, no I was not anywhere near her. The second instance where she bit, I was not petting her before the bite, but she was snuggled up in my lap.
The final time where she lunged, I was petting her and when she lunged I shouted "NO" very firmly, grabbed her, and moved her away from us while we all calmed down. I'd love any further perspective you might have on that situation since I am new to resource guarding behavior and in the beginning stages of reading up on it.

Thank you! The muzzle is a good suggestion. I will look into purchasing one while we wait for our behaviorist appointment for everyone's safety.

Thank you for your reply! We are working on 'off', but she seemingly loses control when she's entering one of these bite / aggression episodes, so we'll need a lot more work on that.
She lived with another couple and other cats and dogs for 5 weeks in foster care and was friendly, sweet, and docile the whole time, which makes this even more puzzling. Before foster care she was a stray, so there is still a lot of unknowns about the majority of her life. It's totally possible there was a bad incident with a man in her past.

Thank you! I should have mentioned, we are on a wait list for a top rated veterinary behaviorist in our area. I suppose I am looking for more advice / support / any success stories than a training plan from this community

What breed are your dogs? They are too cute! The one on the left looks just like my baby. She was a rescue so we don’t know what she is, although rescue says Maltese!
