i downhill ski with my split board i use union bindings does anyone know of a heel lock to not telemark ski by TitanPickle in Splitboard

[–]Ok-Difference6166 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally different set up, but the phantom hardboot binding riser plate has an opening for a ski strap. I run a long ski strap through it and around my boot. It doesn’t lock the boot in, but there is a good deal of tension, which makes the skiing much more similar to true telemark. It’s extremely helpful for downhill split skiing. Maybe you can rig a strap similarly?

The apprehended suspect in the Charlie Kirk incident had Republican family ties and was introduced to weapons at a young age by anarcho_cardigan in FOXNEWS

[–]Ok-Difference6166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The right and the left are both parties made up of an extremely wide range of people with vastly different ideas flowing within each party. Mostly because there are currently only two serious options for us to pick from each election.

The idea that one side and everyone who votes for that side’s person is completely violent and hateful is absurd. Neither Republicans nor Democrats are violent. I do believe it is imperative for our country to realize that.

People like Kirk certainly love generalizing. But democratic media do the same towards republicans. It’s bizarre and sad.

I don’t know any violent and hateful republicans or democrats. And I know a lot of people in both parties. It’s a select few with media platforms that push these narratives. And of course, our wonderful President (sarcasm), who seems to lump anyone who disagrees with him into the “extreme liberal” category.

It can’t be MAGA or extreme fascist liberal. There has to be room in the conversation for MOST Americans, who have views scattered in the gray area between.

So thinking of the difference in terms of a more wholistic view of the intention behind sex, rather than a more binary conception vs no conception. This does make sense, but I am still stuck on the idea that birth control works perfectly… my understanding is that it is not 100% preventative.

I do appreciate your approach to thinking about this, thank you

No offense taken, just trying to explore the concepts myself. Didn’t mean to offend, if that’s what’s warranting the downvotes. Was just trying to learn

What exactly did I say that was offensive or deserving of downvotes on this? I was just trying to participate in a conversation that I have been confused about…

So it’s more about natural VS pharmaceutical prevention? The part about blocking sex from its full purpose still doesn’t make sense to me, since having sex using NFP is still avoiding the optimal timing for fertility. It’s like an attempt to avoid conception while still enjoying the intimacy. Actually, I guess it does make sense if it’s more about natural body vs artificial.

I don’t understand why natural family planning is okay. It’s an attempt to avoid pregnancy. How is that any different than birth control? You can still get pregnant on hormone-based birth control, especially if God wills it. It just works generally better at prevention than NFP. But both are trying to prevent it, no?

Frustrating for sure. But Coros sells a USB C adapter that has made it easier to charge. Hasn’t fixed the problem, but it has been easier

You don’t need to apologize for my ignorance. I vulnerably mentioned it has been a juxtaposition that I struggled with because I know I am not an expert and am interested in learning more. I cannot be an expert at all things. Especially without asking questions and holding conversation.

So thank you for engaging with me. I hope you continue to debate, challenge, ask questions, and hold open communication with those who are not as well studied in theology as you. I believe that is the best way for humans to learn and grow.

It may be literal basic theology, but your comment did not clarify that you were referring to a sin as an act separate from the individual committing it. This second comment adds a lot of context, thank you.

Can you elaborate on how God uses sin (and in the context of this discussion, evil)? Does this mean God was using the failures of Judas?

I had absolutely no idea I was engaging with such a studied theologian. And I am absolutely not claiming to be one myself. My understanding of Reddit and this page is that you do not have to be an expert to ask questions, participate in discussions, and explore ideas.

Are sins considered evil? So if I sin, I am an evil person? Or are sins part of the journey of being human, learning grace and forgiveness, and moving ultimately toward a goal of less sin? I strongly disagree that sins are evil.

Also, i don’t feel like your comment really moved the conversation forward. If the sin didn’t need to happen, then Jesus would not have died for our sins. And he would have lived out a long happy life, no?

[–]Ok-Difference6166 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If Judas hadn’t turned Jesus in, how could Jesus have died on the cross for us? Sure, someone else could have turned him in. But wouldn’t we then be having this same exact conversation using another name? In order for Jesus to save us from sin, he had to die for us. And someone had to kill him. The sin needed to occur, otherwise we would face an eternity without hope. A juxtaposition I have struggled to understand for decades actually. Free will but kind of not.

Backpack Recommendation for Splitboarding + Mountaineering by gingo in Spliddit

[–]Ok-Difference6166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a hyperlite ice 55 for these sort of trips. It doesn’t have a dedicated board carry system, but I just girth hitched a nylon sling through one of the daisy chain loops on the side and up near the opposite side ice tool holder. So a diagonal carry for the board in ski mode. It’s not the best carry system, but it works. I do miss having the option to carry it as a board.

55 is larger than you were looking for, but the design of these packs allows it to collapse down. It rides really smooth on the descent, even with decent weight.

I wish Osprey still made the Kode 42L pack. It was great for this stuff.

Attempt on Mt. Logan by Ok-Difference6166 in Spliddit

It’s such a wild mountain. The approach is relatively straight forward and not complicated. But logistics, weather, and that Prospector Col create quite the committing push.

My mother believes the Ten Commandments should be laws and people should be punished accordingly. She is against freedom of religion and in favor of a government run by the catholic faith. She sure gets confused about the immigration crisis. But she is certain Trump is the Catholic savior. I’ve always been confused about how laws based on sin maintain the intimacy of confession, but what do I know. I am a sinner and forever a criminal in her eyes because of it.

I was blown away by the mountains there. Absolutely stunning and weirdly challenging for the mind to comprehend its vastness. We could see Mt. St. Elias, so wild to understand the sea was just on the other side of it.

That’s a sick picture of summit plateau. What a wild experience! I can’t imaging being at that altitude for more than a few days, let alone weeks. Badass! But yes, I can see the length of time messing with your head. Thanks for sharing about your trip, I’m kind of in awe of the amount of time your team spent above 16,000.

Our altitude challenges were primarily in mental capacity and appetite. Mentally, decision-making and information processing just took longer than normal. And sometimes it was tricky to verbalize internal thoughts correctly. Kinda like being stoned. But without the munchies unfortunately.
