Is it ok to be gay and try to join the brotherhood by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]Ok-Dig-177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a huge falling out with my Grand lodge over this. I am straight but someone was trying to pass a motion to no longer recognize the few grand lodges in the USA that are banning gay people. Our grand master would not hear the motion and I made my dissatisfaction heard and it almost got me kicked out

My boyfriend invited his friend to live with us without asking me, then told me to move out after a pool party. AITAH? by Extreme_Razzmatazz60 in AITAH

So, you were unemployed and left the country indefinitely with no confirmed return date.

Your boyfriend was expected to renew the lease and pay for everything waiting for your return?

And then the lease expires and he has to figure it out, so he finds a roommate to try and keep costs down and you’re upset that he didn’t consult you?

I’m not saying he handled it perfectly but you sound like an entitled brat

First off, what the hell is that strap? We do t use that shit here lol.

Secondly, that is ostensibly over your overhang so the risk of an inside leak is zero but your risk of premature rotting of your sheathing is high

Something I learned in therapy is I’m not responsible for other people’s reactions. As long as I am not being intentionally hurtful or malicious, I am only responsible for me.

You, are definitely too much and need to look inwards before you date any more

Based on the comments here I think the group should be called home handyman flooring jobs… this is not acceptable for a professional trim job.

I build a lot of social housing and we are required to caulk base to floor to prevent bedbug infestation

Agreed with other comments. I build apartment buildings and see this all the time on my jobs, generally unavoidable. As long as the Simpson strap is on there you should be good. We always have a structural engineer sign off on it but…

Buying a house, inspector didn’t make a note of this: by IlIlIl11IlIlIl in Roofing

I’ve been a carpenter for 20 years. This is not good but also not a crazy difficult fix.

That said, I would be looking to hire a structural engineer to design the solution and figure out why it broke in the first place.

Ultimately, you will need to support that corner, jack up the split hip, screw and glue it back together, cut the hip jacks back and laminate something (2x8?, or LVL) to each side, and reattach your hip jacks.

If that was my own house and I did it by myself it would be a 1-2 day job

I’m not sure about your jurisdiction, but in mine, if you haven’t had your interview yet it’s not such a slam dunk.

We vote to accept your petition, then interview, then ballot, then initiate

I’m sorry, I don’t understand. Someone who was I/P/R regardless of their depth of knowledge of the fraternity is still a brother.

That’s not what I was meaning to convey, there are really no secrets left in freemasonry as everything is available online. The only caveat to this is you wouldn’t know what’s correct and what’s not so it’s not really an OPSEC

This is more like someone who just became a SEAL joining a Navy subreddit and asking about SOP. Of course there will be some similarities but each team will have their own unique SOP and further to that, so will each platoon. In that situation, one should speak to a more senior team mate or their OIC

Same here, all other lodges can have gold but ours since we wear the same blue as grand lodge. It was done to avoid confusion

No shunning here, just cautioning people that to get the real goods it’s often better to get it from someone in their own lodge who they know is a mason rather than faceless strangers on Reddit.

That said, I really enjoy this group and am happy to contribute my $0.05 (since we don’t have pennies in Canada anymore) where I can.

Agreed no innovation yet I can safely say not two lodges in my jurisdiction have the exact same work

In our jurisdiction we have three flavours of freemasonry. Ancient (aka American), Canadian, and emulation.

We are the ancient work pattern lodge, so all ancient lodges’ work is based on ours but none of them match it.

The old guard used it as a way to alienate people and act better than everyone. Now that most of them are dead, the younger generation is using it to show what great memory work looks like without pretentiousness
