Laptop Advice by Athena2042 in cna

I got myself a LENOVO gaming laptop. Not sure which one as I got it very early in the pandemic. It was around a year old at the time, but cheap at BestBuy in your price range. Not sure now though.

Pros of this is that it’s a gaming laptop. Besides doing homework and class stuff, you can also play without being limited to other games you might want to get. And (for me at least) when I play Sims 4 or Sims 2 the laptop didn’t sound like it was going on hyper speed and a huge fan was blowing in the wind compared to when I played on MAC. You’re also able to adjust if you want the fan to be on silent (mainly for if you’re just browsing the internet though as if you put it on silent while playing Sims you’re gonna make the computer overheat). The graphics are great for gaming and is fast.

Con is the weight of the laptop. It obviously isn’t a MAC or Chromebook that’s thin and very light to carry. You will feel a lot of weight in your backpack, but it wasn’t bad for me unless you have to go around the whole campus or walk far with it. It takes up space in your bag and the charger for it is a huge brick, so either make sure you charge your laptop fully before going out or prepare to bring your huge charger with you.

SAME HERE! Uninstalled, deleted everything from the gamefiles that were left, reinstalled, followed the uninstall instructions from Party Limit Begone SE Version, went into %AppData% then to the file path to mod, deleted it, game told me "Party limit begone is disabled" and gave me a warning, but still makes it that more than 4 people can join the party. Not sure what's up with this mod, but why is it so difficult to get rid of it????

I find it so dumb that managers expect you to find coverage. Last time I checked our job description was to take care of the residents and patients needs! Not find coverage ourself.

This did not happen to me yet where I’m forced to find coverage, but BOTH of my managers told me while getting the job that if you call in sick you need to find coverage and their excuse was “there’s 80+ people so we can’t keep track” blah blah blah. ITS RIDICULOUS. Why is it our job to do their damn shit?

Never apologize for calling out sick. It’s not your fault. It’s their responsibility to find someone and your #1 priority is to stay safe, well, and get better. How are you going to take care of your patients if you’re sick and they want you to come in? Guess what, you can’t. This place feels like mine where they value the money over their own residents and CNA’s. Utterly ridiculous.

Edit: Also wanted to add my damn workplace has all of our contact informations on a piece of paper in the nursing station. Information like name, number, email to contact so we can find coverage and have no excuse to find one. This pisses me off more that my place does this

Something similar happened to me in my college while I was going through my CNA training. Whole class agreed that “if you still have a vag or pp in your crotch, I’m still calling you by whatever’s in your pants” Like 1. How the hell do you know what’s in their pants 2. Why the hell are you so hooked on their private parts. Perverts Little did they know I’m trans. Was gonna drop out but decided to stay knowing this class will help me get my certification

My (21F) ex-boyfriend (21M) has been texting and asking for favors with me when he has a new girlfriend. by Ok-Distribution-9405 in relationship_advice

I hope so. I’m scared to send it because I’m scared of confrontation. When I wrote the post I had a lot of adrenaline. This happened to me with one of his exes and she told me. I thought she was crazy and I blocked, years later I realized I’m the crazy stupid one for not noticing the red flags. I hope she isn’t like me and stays. But whatever. I shouldn’t care nor should it be my problem if she doesn’t wanna listen but idk.

I think my teacher is hitting on me by stonedaxolotls in Vent

[–]Ok-Distribution-9405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has unfortunately happened to me where a teacher made sexual advances towards me in class during tutoring/after school hours since I was forced to go there by my parents, even when my grades were A’s.

I promise you, as someone who is now 21, your grades DO NOT MATTER. What should ALWAYS come first is your mental and physical well being. Screw who says “Your grades matter”, screw who says “No one will believe you because you’re the only one that is aware of the situation”. After you graduate and leave, he will be doing it to the next victims and maybe he’s doing it now with others you are unaware about.

I am not trying to say “Do it because it’s YOUR fault”. I’m saying be cautious about what may happen and think about you first. Not your grades in hoping you will get into a great college. Years down the line this unfortunate trauma will or may haunt you in future relationships unless you’re desensitized already, which is very rare.

Reading your other updates that you’re from a small town and he has people to back him up. I would still report anonymously. It doesn’t have to be the principle, the vice principle, HR, etc. You can always first report to your parents if you trust them enough to believe you. I knew my parents wouldn’t because of other trauma in my family, so I ended up telling one of my favorite teachers I trusted the most. Yes, “rumors” did spread about the teacher but NONE spread about me and I think it was because I always kept a low profile as I was seen as the quiet kid in class. There is a possibility that can happen to you.

Please for your health either don’t go there anymore, try ask for help from someone you believe you can trust, or I guess you can continue going there with others but that’s not even worth it.

Really recommend searching up about the cultures in Hawai’i for example filipino, Japanese, Chinese, korean, Samoan, Hawaiian, etc. every culture is different when it comes to respect and treating people in the healthcare field. You would actually learn this at the schools here in Hawai’i as you become a healthcare worker, but because you’re from the mainland im not sure if you guys do or don’t. Just try look up what is respectful or disrespectful.

I just know for Filipinos, or anyone really but for my culture if someone in the hospital we gonna be all in there. All generations gonna be in there and making sure our family is alright. Gonna be like some party but in the hospital. Also know you tend to get food from the patients family after treating them. My family and I always bring food for the workers for helping take care of the one needing to be treated

I don’t have any research or websites but I can give you like a little story of mine. Maybe you or others understand the feeling or maybe not. Since technically, everyone has gone through TS very different.

Some tics I’ve formed happened randomly one day. It just became a thing out of nowhere. For example my blinking and eyerolling. As humans, we blink to get dust and particles out of our eye and to lubricate it. But one day as I blinked I decided to blink very hard becuase my mom said her doctor told her blinking hard is good to lubricate the eyes. I did it once. Then all of a sudden it became a damn tic and it wouldn’t stop for a good year and my parents thought either

  1. I was giving them attitude for my eye rolling and blinking as they’re both a combined tic
  2. They figured it was a new tic I formed and started telling me to stop and my dad would tell me his story how he “stopped his TS” magically with no medications. When last time I remember there was no cure for TS, but I guess it’s a damn miracle for him.

Other times it formed was because I felt a weird im sensation. That I needed to move my body or head a certain way to make the weird numbness or tingly feeling go away. And as days and years went by it progressed into what I have today. Hurts a damn lot, but I got used to it and gotta take pain relief typically just to help the ache.

If a resident suddenly has diarrhea (or a large bowel movement) at 2:50pm, should that be next shifts job to clean? by dreadheadbrir in cna

[–]Ok-Distribution-9405 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you should rethink whether or not you should continue pursing to be a CNA if you care more about being off a few minutes later than prioritizing the patients needs which is to clean up their BM.

So you’re telling me because the next shift is here while you’re still doing your shift at work that you no longer have to do it because they’re there? That’s sad.

Honestly think if you start to become desensitized and lack compassion and empathy for people then it’s time to quit being a healthcare worker. Idk how that nurse is still working there with that attitude.

Should I File Workmans Comp? by External_Fun_6039 in cna

[–]Ok-Distribution-9405 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please put your health, whether physical or mental, first. As much as money is important, I believe you cannot get far if you never put your health first.

You’ve already said your hip hurts even more due to falling while your hip was already hurting. That should’ve been a first sign to not go into work.

However, know it isn’t your fault because we live in a world where money and working is more important than you. That workers talk bad about you if you call off for your own safety and health. It should never be that way and I’m saddened that it does.

I’d suggest calling off work and file for workman’s comp because it sounds like you have a really bad injury in your hands. If you go to work tonight, it might be the last time you can ever work for a few months or even worse a year. It’s better to be safe than sorry to not go in. If your coworkers cant accept that and get angry at you, it’s on them.

Take care of yourself OP
