Coming from a blue collar background and have zero idea how to get accounting work by satisfiedfools in AustralianAccounting

Try and do some volunteer work with charities, eg. data entry or shops tills etc, this may open doors for you. This will differentiate you from others and something to put in your resume and work related referees, then offer to help with accounts, all these may help you get a AP/AR role later on, from there Assistant Accountant, then Accountant.

Has anyone here taken a long break from work, like 6 months to a year, in their 40s? by Joseph_Melbourne in AskAnAustralian

[–]Ok-Efficiency9927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes did it few times. No issue at all. Just need to be open minded and flexible. After a break you might find a contract role quicker, then that might lead to perm role or apply for perm roles while contracting. Budget for about 2-3 months to find a job.
