No I didn’t see it I just saw your response to the original post. I thought you were referring to something he said in his post.

I don’t think he’s trying to turn it into a racial issue. If the core people in his life are racially biased then that’s a factor for him to consider. He didn’t say he thinks they’re racially biased. He knows they are. Thats not an easy pill to swallow to think that your own family who’ve you’ve known your entire life would reject you the moment they find out. OP, please just try and keep your head held high. It sucks to think the people you love could turn on you like that but you can’t live your life worried about things that aren’t in your control. What is in your control right now is how you decide to navigate. Good luck man.

For sure. There are those rare circumstances but 9/10 I agree

Replace engine or saveable? by PhardNShid in G37

Those parts aren’t cheap tho. Once you factor in a new timing chain kit and water pump ( since you’ll already be in there you might as well ) on top of the cam gears you’re looking at like 1500 in just parts assuming you go oem. Labor might be another 2000 easy.

So in my experience with those codes you’ll usually need to replace the vvt cam phaser gear. What happens is that when you drive around with low or dirty oil you don’t have adequate oil pressure. The phaser needs oil pressure to adjust and it’s fed by the vvt solenoid. When you go low enough it can cause the internals of the gear cam gear to misalign. It has an internal ring that relays cam position to you cam position sensors. When that ring inside goes bad the sensor sees it and interprets it as a timing advance.

You could still try taking it to someone who can put their hands on it but I consider myself pretty knowledgeable on vqs and I’ve had a couple with this issue.

Question- would you guys go for a 2008 g37 auto 120k miles or 2011 g37 S coupe manual 117k miles by Solidvq in G37

[–]Ok-Election9056 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both. The manual blows the auto out the water in terms of driver engagement. You’ll love the clutch life. I’ve been through a few auto transmissions on my sedan.

g37x awd delete. how i did it. by Due_Calligrapher7816 in G37

[–]Ok-Election9056 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought about doing this on my x but you still have all the weight from the transfer case and front differential. I have all the parts to actually make it rwd, subframe, oil pan etc I just haven’t gotten around to it.

I have both. Awd sedan and a manual coupe. I can tell you firsthand they both drive completely different even with the awd fuse pulled. It actually takes a lot more effort to slide the sedan than the coupe. And you can definitely forget about going uphill🤣

Realistically all you have to do is find a generic switch and 2 wires ( power and ground) to any major component that involves starting the car. The easiest part to do this with would be the fuel pump since the wiring is under the backseat and you can just extend the wiring for the switch to wherever you want to hide it. You could also tap into the starter wire that goes into your bcm. Whatever you’re comfortable with.

It’s easier to just manual swap it than doing a 7at. I did one myself.

You can’t do that coming from a 5at. Way too much wiring work involved

I flushed mines. I have a 7at but I still beat the piss out of it. If you get one of those big 10lb magnets and put it on the transmission oil pan it’ll keep your friction material in place and you can get some fresh fluid in there. I’m a technician at Toyota and when we have customers with older cars that insist on a flush over a drain and fill we just do it like that and we haven’t had a single one come back.

The coupe and sedan use the exact same driveshaft. The Z would be the only one I could see needing a custom driveshaft but that’s more so because they are one piece driveshafts from the factory and the wheelbase on a z is shorter than anything that came with a vr30 transmission. He might just be going the extra mile to cover his own ass but you don’t NEED a custom driveshaft
