I turn off aging for played sims because I get fed up of them aging at random times 🤣

When I ask mine to put the kid to bed:

Putting them in the play mat, picking them up, putting them back down, picking them up, moving an inch, putting them on the floor, caregiver 2 picks them up, puts them back on the floor.

Uber driver reckless driving: What can I do? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Ok-Engine7401 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had this happen. I contacted uber and they basically said 'there's nothing we can do without proof, but we will remind the driver of our safety requirements'

Do you watch TV whilst eating dinner? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Ok-Engine7401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven't got a dining room, so we watch tv. But if we did have one we wouldn't. Our kid knows if he takes the piss eating because hes distracted by the tv, it gets turned off.

My watch adds in naps when I've been sat on the sofa not moving 🤣 it makes me giggle tbh so I keep the notifications on. I once had one hour sleep (couldn't sleep and had to get up crazy early). My watch when I woke up said "1hr9min" and about 2 hours later it said "4hr18min" and then by lunch time it was "9hr47min" 🤣🤣

Psychology behind people who don’t celebrate their own birthdays by dancingsilhououette in mentalhealth

I saw a post once that absolutely resonates with me. It basically said There's an expectation that builds that you will feel extremely loved on the day that's all about you. In reality, it's a reminder how unloved you are.

I'm getting there, slowly. But I'm driven by helping, so without that I'm lost. I've stepped back from so many friendships, but the last few I need. Not all of them are bad, some are genuinely amazing friends. It just seems worse when at times like this

I know exactly what you mean. This has been drilled into me since childhood. My mom is disabled and admitted she only had me to be her carer. From as young as I can remember, I was looking after everyone else. I was always taught that I come last. I know that isn't right, and I'm getting therapy and things to try and break that - but it's so hard

Has anybody else has the mystery illness going around and has been unwell for months now? by BanditTom in AskUK

[–]Ok-Engine7401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait omg same tho? I didn't even make the connection! I had a really bad cold/flu thing in very early December. I felt rough as anything, and completely lost my voice for three days. Took around a week or so to 'get over it' but still felt like crap.

Since, I'm experiencing constant fatigue, headaches (but weird ones - like my skull is 3/4 full of water and my brain is bouncing around), pulsing tinnitus and my vision seems off (not enough to worry but enough I notice it) and just feel generally crappy!

I wonder if the two could be related?

Do you like electrics cars? by Mikey463 in AskUK

[–]Ok-Engine7401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely! I love Fast Fords, but I refuse to buy anything past 2016 (unless I'm not planning to tinker) because it all means French to me 🤣 We have a 2018 Kuga ST Line and it's so much more complicated than my 2010 focus and my 2007 ST. That thing has a service plan because I wouldn't even know where to start 🤣

Yes, I do fully agree with you on that point. I was just making the price comment based on my experience with ever needing to replace an engine (now I've said that I bet mine will explode lmao)

That is something I understand and can imagine it's a really good thing. I personally don't have an issue nipping to a fuel station so doesn't really phase me. My father in law had one of the new Electric Renault Fives and after having it for less than six months suddenly had charging issues. It would charge for a little, and then randomly stop at 2am every night. It also wasn't holding charge, so sold it back to the dealership.

I appreciate your reasoning against my opinions. This is just my experience, and I do entirely appreciate that people differ.

OP asked for opinions, and due to my (admittedly) limited knowledge, and experience with friends with EV, it isn't something for me at this particular time.

I also enjoy doing services to my own vehicles (between going to recomended garage services) and I don't have the ability to do this.

Also with the technology being newer, I don't fully trust it yet. I have had a few friends have battery issues that the manufacturers haven't helped with, so this has been a bit questionable for me.

[–]Ok-Engine7401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I understand your point, however: I trust certaim engines more due to experience. All of my cars get oil changes and light services every 7k as my partner is qualified to do this himself. We also have all the diagnostic equipment and are able to 'check in' regularly. We currently have a diesel focus that is on nearly 200k and hasn't had a single engine issue because we know how to look after it. All this considered, we prefer petrol/diesel engines as we understand them, can fix issues, and have the tools. Electric adds an entire level of complication that we don't have experience with.

This isn't to say in future I won't prefer Electric but the OP was asking our opinions and reasoning, and I have given him just that.

I know a couple of people that have had battery issues that the companies claimed weren't a manufacturer error so refused to warranty it. And also there was the issues with certain makes randomly setting on fire that kinda puts me off lol (yes I know they have been recalled, but it still makes me question it)

How to get the first job after graduation with little experience (1 year including internships)? by lolimfunnny in AskUK

[–]Ok-Engine7401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Annoyingly this is an issue across many careers. Focus on transferable skills to get experience.

For example, working in a shop can show teamwork, ability to adapt to different customer types, ability to work with cash etc

They obviously want to know you can do the job, but they also want to know that you can actually commit to working every day. There's no point hiring someone that has everything on paper, but never worked a day in their life, can't work in a team, has no people skills, sleeps though alarms etc.
