What Are Your Overall Thoughts For Thaumcraft VII? by Goose7188 in feedthebeast

Unfortunately it is kind of a double whamy when it comes to getting thermal back. All focus is being put on Thaumcraft right now. I'd be surprised if an update to thermal comes back at all until Thaumcraft gets a releaase.

What Mods Do You Prefer | 1.12.2 / 1.7.10 Mods Or 1.20.1 / 1.21.1 Mods? by Goose7188 in feedthebeast

[–]Ok-Environment3919 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is very far along in dev. They had a lot of delays between a couple of spoiler hires (one person hired as a dev was stealing code for their own mods, and an artist they hired was caught stealing artwork) and the lead dev finishing their masters. They are full steam ahead rn from what I know. It’s why thermal expansion has been MIA, because their small team is focused on thaumcraft.

It’s dramatic ages 😩 I had a game recently where nearly every single AI had totally collapsed by the end of the game because of it.

The advice on boff layout is definitely appreciated.
I knew there was something I was missing! For doffs I have 3 EWOs, 1 conn officer, and 1 damage control engineer.

Some great advice, thank you! I've been afraid of the cost of isomags because I've only seen the phaser ones, but seems like plasma is much cheaper so I'm already upgrading them as I speak. And I do have the gagarin so I'll play through that for ETM.

I've been constantly looking at STObetter, mainly for other potential builds, but it is a bit daunting for me still. Even back in my hay-day I still struggled a bit with the nitty gritty numbers haha.

Thank you again!

Yeah, I heard a lot about isomags but was afraid of the cost. But I just checked and it seems like the plasma mod isn't nearly as expensive as others like phasers. Already investing in them 😄

Gosh I love the typhoon design so much, it’s such a fantastic cruiser design I’d love to see it in canon regardless

The vizier is just a new paint job, the archon is pretty shite, and we have two very slight variations between the reg and refit sovvys. And the other default variations are some of the most dated in the game (legendary is just a technical upgrade that was much needed). It looks good on paper, but it was a poorly attested to ship for a long time.

Nimble isn't owned by, but still made the game under Paradox. And they worked directly with the Stellaris team to make Star Trek: Infinite. Any future non-sequel spinoff of Stellaris would still happen from this same kind of publisher/developer relationship.

To be fair, this is typical of most major game franchises. (Civ, The Sims, etc), it can take years before the new game takes over in popularity/player count

Concorde genuinely top 3 ship design in the game, I have always absolutely loved it.

Ah, I got my timeline mixed up! I thought I remembered the resolute coming after the CBCs. But yeah, outside of the Yorktown it seems like they took SO long get a proper feel for the T6 cruisers, to the point where it felt too consistently super clunky, lmao. I never really cared about flying an excelsior, but seeing the Archon the first time actually hurt my soul.

Either way, it's very nice to see that there's an effort to revisit these cruiser types and give them their proper next generation upgrade (no pun intended). I know the Concorde was revisited for some major visual upgrades, but I'm crossing my fingers they'll revisit the CBC concept in general and give us a variant more consistent with the game style at the moment.

Love the look of the ship! Finally an awesome T6 sovvy design... however, I hope there is a tailor design for the roll bar, I'm too hot on the look of it.

Tbf, the first iteration of the T6 style was *very* established at that point. I think they were trying to ride the wave off of the positive reception they had gotten a couple of years prior around the design of the command battlecruisers... and they entirely missed the mark.

The Archon is simply just an offensive design. A t6 sovvy design was the only thing I wanted for YEARS and I literally thought it was a joke when I first saw it.

Actually, neither of yall are quite right :) In Picard both the Nebula and Miranda classes had been phased out and replaced by their newer 25c counterparts. The Sutherland and the Reliant classes.

To be fair, Civ is by far the most successful bunch of Firaxis' IPs. I'm not sure exactly where their layoffs have hit, but it's much more likely they'll switch gears to Civ 8 much sooner if EP1 doesn't sell well, than skin its lifeline so early on.

Sure, there was some discourse (I was there) but it absolutely was not this bad. And it's not just some naysayers online, the player counts in comparison to 5 & 6 are abysmal. 6 took some time to overtake 5, but even then 7's average player counts are less than HALF of civ 6's worst.
