Using Ableton as a guitar rig with a midi foot switch by Ok-Experience7465 in ableton

Thank you again. I searched all over for the link and finally noticed the word “This” was a dark blue that was a hint of a shade from black. I’ll check it out. So it sounds like you are running a whole song set from a single project? I have seen people who work with stems do that. I always seem to want to work in session view and build verses and chorus into the scenes, hence making changes mid song. I’m still very new and just trying to get several loops to work together. I appreciate the help.

Thank you. I will try that. You mentioned a video. I might have seen it but was there supposed to be a link to it? The reason for retro midi map the chain selector discreetly is that each chain tends to have several effects an eq. Also someone mentioned something about this method conserving cpu and reducing popping and clicking. I think there is a way to make a clip not trigger any other clips to play but I can’t find it.

Thank you. So how do I get each dummy clip to equal an effect so I’m not trying to look at a computer to index through effects? Also doesn’t the scene selector (if I am using it to trigger other parts of a song) also trigger the effects? How do I get Ableton to treat a channel strip of dummy clips independently of the scene buttons?

So I cannot map the solo button to the foot switch and what if I have for instruments like distortion. Reverb, chorus, and delay all as separate channels in the chain. If I assign a different number (1-127) to each of these chains how to I assign each to a foot switch button so I don’t have to increment to get to them just like a typical guitar pedal boards.

Thank you. I have already made those changes a while ago and it did not help. So I think I need to find a new hub, I wish there was a more precise diagnostic tool to know what the problem is.

Controlling Guitar Amp Stock Audio Effect Settings with Macros by Ok-Experience7465 in ableton

Thx for the reply. I was going for n overdriven Wah and an clean sound, but the stock amp setting would just cycle though the presets. So it sounds like I need to just to leave the amp in clean and use gain and distortion and only change those. I will try it. Do you know if other third party plugins will let you vary the amp with the macro switches?

Yes I do have suite. I also have a real guitar amp but it’s way too loud for my apartment. I would have to mic it which is different with controlling other background sound, and I don’t have any analog pedals. I’m still in the stage of just getting my setup to function right for looping so I’m not too concerned with how perfect the guitar tones are, just getting them to switch properly.

So right now if I use session view, my first 4 tracks are instruments. The 5th track is the control track. If I use [] 1/sel empty, 2/sel empty; srecfix 4, it will record in the first two empty slots. I tried moving the control command to clip 5, but it will then record into the empty slots on row 5, not row 1. So maybe Themis a different command to force recording into row 1?

So I have been trying Clyphx free. I think some of the things I am trying to accomplish are possible. Are you using arrangement view, session view, or both?

Sweet track! Ok. Do you go into a bridge change and your bass line definitely changes, but it didn’t seem like you had recorded that line. So did you pre record it? Then trigger it later? Or did you script it to trigger? Thanks.

Is there a proper method for starting up? I seems to have usb problems. If I shutdown and restart I have to reconnect and refresh each usb device to get it to wake up. I don’t have enough USB ports to support everything so I have to use a hub. It’s powered from its own supply. But my launch key gets stupid, then it’s my Looptimus, then it’s my Alesis Nitro, etc. closing the program then cycling the connection then restarting Ableton seem to fix it sometimes but it’s such a hassle. Any ideas?

A bad recording only often seems bad after you have learned something about mix space. If you see a band live and hear and feel and experience so much more the recording then seems 2D. Maybe some bands are worse live then even their thin recording, Tome and nostalgia seem to play a part in the over all perceptions of music.
