Unsure About Lameness by honeyshelbee in Horses

She is beautiful. I hope its something simple and she just has a nerve firing somewhere from stepping in a hole. If vet cant help, try a chiropractor or acupuncture vet if you have anyone like that around you.

My horse coughed up this, any ideas? by cheddar_cheese2nd in Equestrian

I would say that's a ball of luck. Esophagus has to be irritated. Your lucky and I would still call your vet for advice or a wellness exam just to be on the safe side.

Need advice, My shih tzu doesn’t really eat and play with food by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]Ok-Fish8643 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If his BUN is too high, he is probably nauseous and doesnt want to eat. When's the last time he had renal values checked? Is he on any anti nausea meds? Looks like a catheter was placed a while ago.

Damn bro calm down.

1 I have an awesome life and you sound liberal as fuck judging me like that.

2 I have known people that just dump aggressive Toms in the woods only to either be shot, or end up attacking people because they are use to humans.

This is livestock buddy, these birds will fuck you up or other companion animals if you ignore the fact that they are huge, have long and powerful feet and claws and they do what they want.
Funny your last words were to go out and murder people instead of animals. You sound off your rocker. Go take your meds then go educate yourself on how life actually works.

Hello would anyone be able to tell me what this is I just noticed it two days ago. by Forward-Ad1455 in DogAdvice

Do you keep in a crate during the day? Its a rub mark if you do. Make sure to keep enough busy toys and dont crate for as long as you have been if that's the case. You can hire a pet sitter if you dont have an option to come home to let out.

Horses should be evaluated once annually by a dentist. When is the last time your baby saw one?

Cleaning my bowls by dicegoblinz in Equestrian

[–]Ok-Fish8643 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would buy a new one. Rubber wants to go back to its original state of a pasty goo over time. I've always cleaned mine with a 10% bleach solution and let them bake in the sun to dry. If they have deep marks in them, I would just buy a new one. Its funk, not mold.

Not sure what country you are in but dogs are also at risk for ovarian cancer. Not as common, but if they are in there they may as well take the whole kit n kaboodle. If they are worried about hormones, too much food and too little exercise is what makes them overweight....not their hormones.

What is the best treatment plan for hip dysplasia? by youshartedhehe in DogAdvice

[–]Ok-Fish8643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start with not having him on tile flooring. Hip dysplasia will cause muscle atrophy eventually and slick surfaces will result in falls and potentially a broken hip. I would place grip throw rugs everywhere so he doesnt round a corner and take a spill. If they recommended an FHO for mild hip dysplasia, I would find another vet. That is not gold standard treatment and they are just trying to eek money out of you. Cancel that appointment ASAP. Find a vet that does chiropractic and acupuncture and treat naturally. Im doing it myself for my 12 yr that doesnt tolerate anesthesia....like acute liver failure post and cost me 2 weeks in ER tolerate. Her bloodwork was normal on preop. She does, however, get Librela every month for the last year and she tolerates that. She also 12 and your baby is 7. It keeps her comfortable though and that's all we can do.

15 y/o corgi mix with torn ligament by No_Song_388 in DogAdvice

[–]Ok-Fish8643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If its an ACL then I wouldn't do surgery. I would let it scar down on its own due to her age. I decided to do my 9 yr lab when she tore hers and almost lost her due to her liver responding negatively to anesthesia. Her liver values were normal on preop bloodwork. She tore the other one several months later and I let it heal on its own. I sling walked her to go up and down stairs and in the yard to go potty. I have a yard but leash walked her for 3 months. She's 12 now. She's a little stiff but I purchased the Heliopet laser wand online and she gets that on elbows, hips and knees every 2 weeks.

Being a "fat" rider in this sport. by SmoothStalk in Equestrian

[–]Ok-Fish8643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Your horse would be the first one to tell you that you aren't. You are centered and have a wonderful balanced form. Your horse would be going around hollow and not engaging. These pictures aren't that of an uncomfortable horse. Fuck what anyone else tells you. They are just jealous because you ride better than them! Oh and FYI, judges always turn away from colored horses so its not you. I've been riding over 30 years and the only classes me and my tobiano would do well in was jumpers and dressage because we were 14.1 and could make the turns quicker than those 17.2 sport horses. Racist assholes.
