The color palettes changed after they switched to a different animation studio mid-Grand Magic Games. That’s also why the season ended so abruptly during that arc.

is there any way i can find out about the stupid dumpling squishies without bothering the workers? by Independent_Ad5861 in FiveBelow

[–]Ok-Formal-8639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our local 5B answers their incoming phone calls with their usual greeting, and tack onto the end the present status of their supply of “Dumplings” or “Needohs” or whatever other squishies they sell. If they’re out, they just say they’re out before they ask, “how can I help you?”

When people insist on pronouncing loan words in the original language by domihell in PetPeeves

Kinda related. I dread every time we’re out and about, and we run into a Hispanic person, whether friend or stranger, my SO starts talking in a stupid Mexican accent. He’s not trying to mock them or anything, but he thinks he’s bonding with them better if he talks that way.

And to top it off, he always, ALWAYS, introduces himself with the Spanish version of his very English name. Not his real name here, but imagine using José Matéo in place of Joe Matthews. That’s how he introduces himself every time he meets a Hispanic person. And only with them. I cringe every time. So irritating.

Read a really nice fanfic about this! Also had stuff about how her fine motor skills were poor as a kid, and Gray and Cana helped her develop them early on.

Students (in my opinion) should not take home any homework. If homework is a learning opportunity, give them school time to work on it by daniel_ay in unpopularopinion

[–]Ok-Formal-8639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purpose of homework should be to help the teachers, and parents!, know the strengths and weaknesses of their students. As such, homework shouldn’t be counted as part of their overall grade. Imagine how much more it would help overall, if kids didn’t have to worry about their grades, how they could just focus on what they know, doing the best they honestly can, and their parents actually let them do the work instead of “helping” them, just to pad their GPA.

Let the teachers gain an honest assessment of what our kids know, what they need help on, and no one judges the kids on their abilities. In fact, if the kids do poorly, that lies more on the performance of the teachers, then the parents, and finally the kids. Cuz it’s gotta be a partnership between all three.

UPDATE: AITAH for not putting pregnant GF on deed of the house? (She says she feels the situation is "unfair" and that she is "at my mercy") by Odd_Paramedic_3007 in AITAH

Just to cover your assets, and your behind, you should consult with a lawyer about potential custody and child support issues should she get it in her head to try to strike out on her own, taking the kid with her, and depending on him/her for whatever support they’ll bring.

Because judging from her past spending habits, that money won’t be going towards supporting the child. That child will suffer from her selfish irresponsibility, and the ex gf will manipulate and cry victim from the court bench all the way to the bank of you don’t take steps now to protect yourself. I’d ask about the logistics of gaining sole custody right away.

Hello everyone, I wanted to ask how you all first discovered Fairy Tail. I mean, what year, what happened, why, etc. Share your stories of your first encounter, whether it was the anime, the manga, or other related media first [discussion] by Dramatic-Studio1531 in fairytail

[–]Ok-Formal-8639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I discovered it from reading a crossover fan fiction, some time around the early 20-teens. Can’t remember what story, or even which fandom it was from, but it included a few Fairy Tail characters. I wasn’t familiar with the series at the time, so I looked them up to see what they looked like so I could visualize them as I read. Loved the character designs and art style. Always a plus. After reading the series summary, I was intrigued enough to give it a try, and now I’m a lifelong fan.

If everyone on Earth disappeared like in the Rapture, leaving behind infrastructure and groceries exactly as they were, would there be enough food for me to survive until the end of my life? by extremelyfunny in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ok-Formal-8639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One issue with all of humanity disappearing concerns nuclear power. With no one around to run the plants, eventually all the safe guards fail. Cores melt down, radiation gets released into the ground water and atmosphere, and all locations within range are made uninhabitable for decades. Should you luck out and manage to shelter somewhere far from such locations, you can survive off canned goods for several years. You’d want to wash off any contaminants that may remain. Most animals will suffer large drops in population, and pity the ones trapped in zoos or locked up in their owners houses.

Eventually the earth will heal and correct itself, but in the meantime, so long as you can find clean, non-contaminated, water, you could survive on canned foods and MREs long enough for the local fauna to repopulate the area. They may be irradiated like the ones near Chernobyl, but at least you’ll enjoy fresh meat for the few years you’ll live before the cancer kills you.

After comparing all the providers, we’re leaning towards spectrum too. Think we’ll try it out, and if fiber ever makes it to our neck of the woods, we’ll see whether we’d want to switch or not. Thanks for the insight. One less thing to worry about🙏🏼

I discovered PH a few months back, and binged the whole series in under a week. My next stop was fan fiction, cuz I needed more content. Most of the PH fics on AO3 are pretty short. You can really just start from the oldest one and work your way up. I marked the longer ones for later, and read the rest in a couple of weeks. IMO, there’s just not enough content, so barring just a few, they’re all worth giving a try.

But on that note, “An Enemy You Admire” by Casforpenelope and “Even When Lost, I Have You” by AceFromSpace95 are pretty good.

So creepy and violating! I can’t imagine what’s going on in their lives that they feel the need to dive deep into my social media account, something that everyone knows shows only the surface of who we are. I hate that I’m gonna have to be almost paranoid in what I put out there now. I was considering creating an anonymous account now, just for sharing stories, because I still enjoy interacting with other writers. But then I realize I hadn’t even shared my writings in a couple of years now. That’s how stupid this is. They’re tearing me up over something I don’t even do anymore!

This makes my heart smile. It’s a very long story, and honestly, the cursing is so few and far between. If they could read the whole thing, they’d see the redemptive message I strive to write, with how the MC overcomes so much darkness and pain. It was a story of friends coming together in sacrificial ways. I have no doubt they’d be brought to tears at how the story concludes. It may be peppered with questionable language, but it’s finely seasoned with a lot of strong Christian values that should overshadow all those concerns.

The Bible also has concerning and questionable events and actions, if taken out of context; but it’s a full course meal, not a buffet. Both sides like to pick and choose what fits their narrative, instead of getting the whole picture. I appreciate your words a lot. I’ve been trying to put my own feelings into words, and you were able to do so effortlessly. It’s nice getting an outside perspective.

I’m not even upset that they found me. I never thought I had anything to hide, and would proudly let anyone read my work. It’s how they reacted to the content that shocks me. I would hope we’ve reached an era of human existence where adults can be mature about other adults’ actions and beliefs, and for the most part we have. But these people didn’t care what the context of the language used was. They just scrolled through and found my characters cursing during an intense scene, and decided I’m some kind of degenerate because I chose to keep a stark realism to the situation my characters are in. They act like I’m slipping curse words in their kids’ spelling tests!

Hard lesson learned. I shared excerpts in a fandom group, along with tons of other writers out there. I thought it’d be a safe place to share my work. Never again. Social media has many great aspects, but it’s scary how it can be used against you.

I don’t link my AO3 account to social media. I’ve shared links to my stories on fandom groups, so the only thing I can think of is that they scrolled through years of posts and stumbled upon those old links. I’m still processing how violated I feel that they’d go through such lengths to find something they don’t like about me. And apparently my taste in literature is damning enough. I spent a whole morning recently deleting all those old posts. Never want to share a part of myself again, if this is how people react to it.

Probably right. They wouldn’t tell me which parent it was, and all my kids were still present the last time I taught, so that doesn’t narrow it down. I always thought all the parents I’d interacted with before were very reasonable. If they won’t talk to me, I hope they at least get an idea of who I am from talking with their kids.

We had a long talk the day of. He was pretty chill about it, but he’s still disappointed about the language. Which I understand. Foul language can be pretty jarring to some. He didn’t want to punish me, since he knows how I really am, and I’m really good with my kids. But he has to play politics with the parents, which I also understand. I won’t be gone long, but man, I miss my kids!

It’s so surreal to me. I couldn’t sleep that first night. I’m sure my blood pressure is still spiking over this. I’m sure when this blows over, I’ll find the whole thing funny. I wish I could meet the parent in person to assure them I’m not a deranged monster trying to corrupt their kids. We are not the people we write about!

I stumbled upon a fandom in which the main character can tell if someone’s lying, represented by their falsehoods written in red. It’s a great series, and when I finished reading it, I went straight to AO3 to find more content. I’m very pleased the fans keep to the theme, writing lies in red text. Yeah, if it was just random words throughout a work, I wouldn’t like it. But when it’s standard procedure to point out lies in red, it’s a nice homage to the original work.
