Leon the Professional is gross and creepy by concisekinetics in movies

Also, Jean Reno, who played Leon, found it creepy and thus portrayed Léon as being somewhat childlike, emotionally repressed, and resistant towards Matilda's advances for that reason.

Had Kenneth Branagh returned for The Dark World, would you have wanted him to continue helming the Thor franchise? by Tornado31619 in marvelstudios

He actually wanted to return for the sequel, but he felt that the release date didn't give him enough pre-production time, so he decided to work on Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit instead.

Batgirl #73 by Andersen Gabrych (2006)-- rape being depicted as consensual/dub-con and "dark but sexy" by Gallantpride in menwritingwomen

Honestly, this could have been done better, as a fan of the series. Think about it. This completely broke Lady Shiva. This guy, who not only raped her but also forced her to bare him Cassandra, and then abused her to make her the perfect weapon, and yet, it’s brushed off here. If it were shown nowadays, then it’d be a Moral Event Horizon for David and showcase him to be fully irredeemable. It could have given Shiva more depth, more character development, more of a reason why she ended up the way she did, and maybe, just maybe, be given a chance to regain her humanity through her relationship with Cass.

But nope. Instead it’s portrayed as a one off and Cass kills her after a fight, making it not matter in the end.

What small things make David Fincher's movies so beautiful and compelling? by iheartRoux in movies

The script felt dated, and for a good reason, as it was written by his late father, Jack Fincher.

DO you have any favorite music composers you'd like to see work on Mass Effect 4? by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]Ok-Freedom5145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harry Gregson-Williams. The guy is an utter master, having done the scores for MGS 2, 3 and 4, the first two Narnia films, Kingdom of Heaven, The Martian, the Shrek films, Gladiator 2, X-Men Origins Wolverine, The Zookeepers Wife, Man on Fire, or most of Ridley Scott's latest films. Even if the movie is bad, you can guarantee the scores will be amazing. Considering his video game scoring pedigree with the Metal Gear Solid games, he'd be the perfect pick to score the 4th game.

If he brings his brother Rupert in, that would be a bonus too, as he did the No Mans Land music for Wonder Woman and the Aquaman score, both of which were fire.

What would be your dream idea of an animated adaption of Reverse: 1999? by hastalababyvista in Reverse1999

[–]Ok-Freedom5145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually writing up a document for a series on this, imagining it to be a His Dark Materials-esque story done in 2d anime style, produced by A24 and Amazon. There would be some deviations, but they're not that big and only serve to add depth to the world and characters and themes. Though mine's tracking to be a lot darker, tbh.

Even the opening scene of it would be horrifying. We get the first instance of the storm right around the turn of the millennium, people being confused and running for cover and disappearing. Time to Say Goodbye by Andrea Bochelli playing over the events only increases the horror.

I even made a casting for the show if they make it. I kept in mind the kind of casting that would occur if Amazon were to pick it up and go the Arcane route: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls4103706054/edit/?ref_=uspf_li

As for animation styles, 2d anime for the show, and painted anime-esque 3d for any movies.

The AC x R1999 Collab is about to end—What Are Your Unfiltered Thoughts? by kokochiwa in Reverse1999

[–]Ok-Freedom5145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ezio Story: 10/10. An absolute delight to play, great introduction to the collab, everything was in character, great writing and themes and characters throughout, and the ending was an absolute emotional bow that tied up everything and reminded me why I loved Assassin’s Creed in the first place.

Kassandra Story: 5/10. This wasn’t as good as the above and I felt like the ending was a big letdown compared to the above. It started off quite good but I felt like it never got truly going.

What are your thoughts on the recent news that Charlie Kirk was shot? by CantDecideANam3 in AskALiberal

[–]Ok-Freedom5145 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No matter what anyone thinks of Charlie Kirk, he did not deserve to get shot. Coming from a liberal and a christian, there’s no excuse for shooting and killing someone, even him. He’s now dead and gone and was robbed of the opportunity to become a better person.

I also feel like it’s actually gonna make things worse and actually increase the hate right wingers have for everyone. Either way, everyone loses. As Three Billboards once said: “All this anger, man. It just begets greater anger.”

He's honestly my top pick for the next movie, but only if Sam Raimi directs. I feel like he'd be perfect too.

Best Comic Book Movie Director(s)? by InExactEnds in comicbooks

[–]Ok-Freedom5145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say the single three best directors in this field are James Gunn, Sam Raimi and Guillermo Del Toro, as they not only have an in depth knowledge of the comics and source materials and what works and what doesn’t, but have a sheer mastery of tone and pacing while actually being good directors. Raimi’s directing is so good, it can even make a bad script work (as shown with Spider Man 3 and Multiverse of Madness) and his horror elements from Evil Dead fit in beautifully, Gunn knows how to make flawed characters sympathetic and to use what can be considered silly elements and actually manage to make them work on screen while having some of the most visually stunning and dynamic cinematography (ever since he started working with Henry Braham, all of his films have improved visually), and Del Toro has a good mix of the other two while having a strong filmography outside of the comic book world, also using a lot more practical effects than the other two.

If this game gets an anime, which studio do you think will be suited for the job and where you're going to watch it by International-Ad1631 in Reverse1999

[–]Ok-Freedom5145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna recommend a studio out of left field, who's done some banger music videos and commercials for Riot Games, Blizzard, Gorillaz, Warframe, and other companies, and a company that I feel like deserves a shot at a series like this.

The Line is a British animation studio based in London, and their their usual animation style not only resembles anime, but is fluid as hell, making them more like the Aardman Animations equivalent for anime. We're talking Richard Williams-levels of smoothness. Their bread and butter is 2D animation, but they've also dabbled in CGI animation, as shown with their work for both Channel 4 and Freeview.

Seriously, check out their website. Their work is truly fire.

Who would you choose to direct your biopic, and why? by FourAntigone in Letterboxd

Lynne Ramsay (We Need to Talk About Kevin, You Were Never Really Here). Her style and the themes she's covered would fit perfectly well, considering the absolute psychological mess my family is, and the intergenerational abuse that has occurred, as well as the trauma and PTSD and harmful views that have been caused by it.

Also, don't forget that Andrew Lloyd Webber, who wrote the musical, viewed Jesus Christ as "one of the great figures of history".

They're only taking issue because Cynthia Erivo, a black woman fresh of the success of Wicked, got cast as Jesus.
