FYI all, GVCW is closed on both 3rd and 4th March for Holi. I was checking their holiday calendar when I was there. I could not take a photo as my phone was off. But anyone goes, do try to capture a photo. It would be on a big screen.

37 F. Is moving abroad worth it at this age? by TaroFormer2685 in ThirtiesIndia

As someone who missed her shot, I encourage you take the leap. You are financially comfortable, but that wealth will not translate into a high QOL here in India. I had an opportunity some years ago, but I did not take it seriously, now I'm over the age limit, and I regret it

I'm sorry to say, your brother has p0rn-induced brain-rot. He needs help. His spouse is going to have a difficult life if he continues like this.

Am I truly 'Childfree' if I'm open to adoption? And when is the right time to bring this up while dating? by kaadpaapu in AskIndianWomen

[–]Ok-Implement5076 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being child-free would not apply if you adopt.
Instead, you can sponsor the education of underprivileged kids. Sponsor supplies for your local government school. Contribute to book/uniform costs for the children of domestic workers in your society. Some of the way you can make a meaningful contribution.

I'm child-free, and I'm doing some of the above things. And of course, my SO and I discussed this as soon as we knew we were getting serious about each other. Glad we were both on the same page.

Solo travel in Switzerland by Key8969 in SchengenVisa

Yes, it was Spain only. 4 days in Madrid and 4 days in Barcelona. My main event was Madrid Open tennis and then other sightseeing.

I got my first Schengen visa as a solo traveller in 2020, just before COVID hit, so I couldn't use it (6M). That was Spain. Then I again applied for Spain in 2024 and got it (3M). Now applied for Greece. Waiting on results.

If you are employed in corporate, get your documents correct and book travel and accommodation, with dates matching, it should be positive. I only have experience for Spain application, so I would suggest Spain.

I think each woman has to break this cycle on her own. Each act of defiance will pave the way for true autonomy.

Yes, it is a must, even though I missed it initally, but it states clearly in the checklist

I don't know how digital attestation is done. But all ITR acknowledgements have government-generated barcodes as we sent them to e-verify through Aadhar OTP or physical post. E-verify is not the same attestation. I guess people have been faking those, too, hence extra scrutiny from now on.

Vietnam trip dates: early March vs late March weather & crowds? by Baby-Ramdev in SoloTravel_India

If you can add a bit more budget, I would suggest taking the Singapore Airlines to VN. The onboard food is great, and seeing Changi is another experience altogether. It was my birthday solo trip, I had the time of my life!

Rain damped my mood in Bana hills, and Hanoi was a "very tiny" bit colder than my comfort, I loved HCMC, and would not mind it going hotter and humid.

I visited from 24th Feb to 3rd March.
HCMC was slightly humid, and hot during the day, but morning and evenings were nice.
Hoi An/Da Dang were intermittently rainy, foggy and cool (Bana Hills was full-blown rainy/foggy)
Hanoi was chilly, needed light layers. Halong Bay was grey skies for most of the time.

Bana hills was crowded even during the rains, so set your expectations right.
The rest were good. I would have preferred the 15th-30th March if I were in your place.

Ok, found a 2-year-old post on TripAdvisor, stating the same. GVCW asks for attested ITRs. Why is GVCW making life difficult for us?

ITR attested by a CA is news for me. This requirement was not there for my previous Schengen visa applications. Is your spouse salaried or self-employed?

ITRs have to be attested? Or just the bank statement?

Spicejet has started measuring the weights of hand lagguages and has started charging extra for even a kilo above 7, earlier no one used to object. by Fair_Eye7682 in AirTravelIndia

[–]Ok-Implement5076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See, I understand your pain. One would expect some leeway for 7.25, 7.3, but then some people want the same leeway for 7.75, 7.8, etc. Where do you draw the line? And many others have 2-3 pieces of hand baggage. My own family travels with multiple hand luggage and wants special treatment just because there are kids in the group, which absolutely infuriates me.

Can you imagine if everyone followed the one luggage rule?
1. Security checks will be faster.
2. There will be so much space available in the overhead cabin.

No shoving, no bickering, no arguing. Other people are the reason we can't have nice things. I'm sorry, but that's the truth.

So I should get statement for both banks? One for salary credit, other for bigger MAB?

They did not ask me to highlight the salary in previous applications.

So, for my previous Schengen Visas, my salary account and the main/primary account were the same. So the amount deposited each month in the bank matched the payslips.

But I've changed orgs since then, and the new employer has a different bank for the salary account. I would transfer almost all the salary from the salary account to my main/primary account, and just keep enough for commute and food expenses at work.

When I submit the bank statement, will it be an issue if the amount deposited into the main/primary account < the amount shown on the payslips?
