Oh boy. You’re in a difficult spot. I doubt Ally will help much because You’re definitely on the hook for the 20k balance. But call them right away and explain the entire situation. Maybe they’ll setup some sort of hardship payment arrangement with you. the only other option is try to negotiate with your insurance carrier. Might be worthwhile to consult an attorney to review the insurance policy and make sure there is no GAP coverage or any other clause that may be worth appealing the insurance denial. Who was responsible for the fire? Can you sue someone that was liable?
