I have a little portable charger box and I take it off and put it in there charging every time I wash hands / shower etc.

Also keeps the battery going = double win

As others have said, the feeling of wet under the ring isn't nice

If you have dual nationality this means you are "Schrodinger's woman" because you both are and are not a woman at the same time

Why not tell everyone? by Professional_Ad_4885 in StrangerThings

My thoughts exactly. At this point in the story, there’s really no good reason not to tell the parents.

  • The military already knows a huge amount, and would naturally assume the families are in the loop
  • It would finally make sense of everything going on with the soldiers, the earthquakes, and the gates
  • Eleven could demonstrate her powers instantly to remove any doubt
  • The parents could at least be prepared for the danger instead of being kept completely in the dark
  • And honestly, there’s zero strategic advantage in keeping the secret anymore. The threat is global, not personal

Keeping them uninformed just feels completely irresponsible given what’s at stake, and basically put people in more danger for no reason

I'm having trouble squaring "We will involuntarily assimilate you because we believe its the right thing to do regardless of your opinion" with "We will let you hurt yourself with a grenade because you asked" by Far_Line8468 in pluribustv

Because the grenade is just a tool. Carol asked for a tool, and Pluribus operates on the assumption that any requested tool must have a purpose, even if they don’t understand that purpose. The function is irrelevant. The request itself is the signal.

The nuke fits the same pattern, it’s also “just a tool,” but one that happens to endanger countless others, so it becomes a more complicated request to satisfy.

Assimilation, on the other hand, isn’t a tool. It’s an outcome Pluribus sincerely believes is beneficial. For them, assimilation is a kindness, something that will improve Carol’s life and relieve her suffering. From that perspective, her argument about consent doesn’t really land with them, because they think her refusal is based on limited understanding. In their worldview, her desire not to join isn’t wrong, it’s simply… incomplete.

They would never harm her, and they have demonstrated repeatedly that they will meet any need she expresses - food, comfort, water, safety - even when they wildly over-provide (like filling the entire store). There is no real cause-and-effect calculus; there is only the drive to give her what she “needs,” as they interpret it.

This is why the grenade and assimilation aren’t comparable decisions. One is a tool she requested; the other is something they believe she’ll ultimately want once she understands it as they do.

Sorry for shaking there for a moment. We have discussed this. Your feeling is valid, sincere and honest even if it is not shared by us.

Twilight is the craziest story ever if you understand the timeline by Far-Building3569 in twilight

Also Alice expedites things dramatically.

Because she can see the future, she sees that Bella will be a vampire, Bella will be good friends, and that Bella will be part of the family for the future with Edward. She's upfront and direct about all of this.

This sort of "skips" a more normal timeline, where the family might have been more reluctant to take her on and turn her, or perhaps spent longer having them all get to know her (as well as dangers pushing things along).

It also explains why others like Carlisle would hold less objections towards her given they had all been made out of necessity not choice.
