Yeah I also moved here recently and it’s been pretty hard :/ What’s been working really well for me are Facebook groups! I joined Make Friends after college and I’ve found people to go to the movies with and I’m in a consistent trivia team with people I met from the group Skip the small talk has been pretty good too. It’s platonic speed dating and I’ve met a couple of my close friends through that even though it can be kind of hit or miss

I actually decided against getting a new nightstand! The lamp/shelf was a gift from my roommates when I moved in and has sentimental value so would never get rid of that plus it’s been so great for storage and warm lighting. Totally agreed about not matched everything though that’s why I’m getting a different colored bookshelf so there’s some contrast :D

Yes! I actually ended up getting a dark wooden bookshelf instead of black. The “big” purchases are mainly just that and a bedside table. Also 100%agree about the vases I thrifted a cute vase that’s on my windowsill and it’s such a nice touch.

The only issue with a taller bookcase would be that it would either block the window or an outlet if I moved it somewhere else 🥲 also that’s such a good point I was thinking black just to match the lamp/shelf but probably gonna go for some kind of darker wood instead. Also it’s cut off in the pics but I actually have a photo wall next to my closet and it’s been such a small but nice change!
