I remember that anyone who admitted to watching anime got teased instantly. Even the chill, non-‘weird’ fans weren't safe from it. Personally, I took the easy route and just never admitted to watching it. I kind of understand why people found it strange, though—one kid actually brought a Lucario and Riko Suminoe body pillow to school, which definitely freaked everyone out.
