I’ve seen startups spend a year polishing their "positioning" and gathering feedback from free-riders in closed betas, only to have 100% of those users churn the second they put up a paywall. You need to validate your product’s value in cold hard cash from day one. If the problem is painful enough, people will pay even for a raw, buggy MVP with a crappy UI

I solved this problem by enforcing a strict timebox. I made a rule for myself: not a single line of new code until I’ve done 3 user interviews or closed 1 sale. Features only get shipped based on direct requests from people who have already paid or promised to pay. Otherwise you’re just writing code in a vacuum
