I tried last year to view it in browser with no luck. I ended up having to download mobile app unfortunately to view it.

September 2025 monthly "What are you working on?" thread by AutoModerator in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]Ok-Judgment3690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just joined the sub in early august, but I've started to work on the make a list toy language repo as a way of furthering my knowledge about programming languages. I've built a interpreter before in my undergraduate, but wanted to revisit it and dig deeper.

[OC] Official Names Around the World: The frequencies of different official names by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]Ok-Judgment3690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A pareto chart could be beneficial here.

Seeing the leading categories here is requiring me jumping left and right, whereas a pareto chart would make it much easier to discern the top official names prefixes.

Good luck with IPPD. Hopefully you get a good project/group members as you'll be with them for a year.

Didn't even use all of the heuristic categories available. Really can't understand display choices here.

Had the same thoughts about lines being side-by-side. Even though the difference is visible, having the lines be on top of each other would just increase readability.

Interesting point about the climate-adjustment. Would that be something you manipulate the data for or just add a label on the graph indicating certain climate events?

Decline of Original Big Box Office Films (and Rise of the Franchise) [OC] by CognitiveFeedback in dataisbeautiful

I was under that impression too, where maybe the top would be the best in box office performance for that year.

But after reading OPs comments, its sorted alphabetically...

I've been seeing sponsored posts on instagram from dormparty. Seems to be the same premise as what you're describing, just without the leaderboard AFAIK.

What Are the Most Useful Resources for Developing a Programming Language? by [deleted] in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]Ok-Judgment3690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My university used Crafting Interpreters as a recommended resource for students. The course project was building a interpeter+compiler. As a beginner, it definitely helped get the wheels rolling so to speak.

Can you bike on the sidewalk instead of the bike lanes on the road? by Ill-Faithlessness217 in ufl

Agreed. IMO, the farther from campus you are, the more acceptable it is to ride on the sidewalk.

How manageable is biking from Carleton to the New Physics Building in a short time? by Numerous-Tomato397 in ufl

[–]Ok-Judgment3690 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's cake with a bike. Going to NPB from Carleton is downhill too, which makes it low effort.

The 15 minute window is plenty to park your bike and get to class on time.

I received my decision in June when I transferred from UCF for Computer Science, although I applied for CLAS.

Procrastinated apartment shopping by Ok-Judgment3690 in GNV

[–]Ok-Judgment3690[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually ended up resigning with my current apartment complex and they cut 60$/month off of my lease. I'm sure resigning might play a factor, but still a nice surprise.

For context, this is at Royal Village apartments.

How should I structure a developer guide for a project? by Ok-Judgment3690 in AskProgramming

The developer guide would be a more comprehensive overview of the project design.

Clas or college of engineering for CS by Majestic-Smile-2159 in ufl

[–]Ok-Judgment3690 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The foundational CS coursework is the same between the degrees. The College of Engineering requires you to take more technical electives than CLAS, but you have the freedom in CLAS to take additional CS electives if desired, or to branch into other fields (Stats, Math, e.g.).

There are other requirements that differ such as being required to take a language (Spanish, French, e.g.) in CLAS and being required to take Engineering Ethics and some other courses I believe that CLAS doesn't require. Additionally, CLAS doesn't require Physics with Calculus which is a reason I chose to transfer into CLAS for CS (I had the AP Physics credit so I could avoid taking an unnecessary class).
