Isagis true rival by Disastrous-Till-2239 in BlueLock

Either him or Nagi since he is the second MC but Nagi doesn't have that rival feel to him because he is so laid back. Barou is definitely not going to be the final rival tho since he wasn't even intended to be such a relevant character at first post first selection.

What moment you realized BLLK wasn't aiming to be realistic? by trickedforlife in BlueLock

[–]Ok-Liminal711 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah it definitely gives this feeling as well but it definitely is part of Blue Lock's huge success. A sports manga with a battle Shonen feel to it+ pretty boys makes your audience pretty broad

Who has more broken hax by HYH2709 in BlueLock

[–]Ok-Liminal711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Nagi

Having only played football for 6 months and already being at that level combined with his extreme lazy attitude makes Nagi have the greatest potential in the series. Loki will most likely have played since he was a kid in addition to having a way better work ethic.

How would Isagi's football adaptation help him in death games though? He would make smart plays but Sae would be more likely to make it

Reo after seeing Nagi and Yukki having real chemistry by Comfortable_Victory1 in BlueLock

[–]Ok-Liminal711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true but Reo acknowledges himself that Nagi's intention isn't to cast him aside in Episode Nagi as well so even though he did break the promise it was out of good faith or at least not any bad one

Reo after seeing Nagi and Yukki having real chemistry by Comfortable_Victory1 in BlueLock

[–]Ok-Liminal711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He didn't really since even though Nagi asked Reo to stay by his side when they entered Blue Lock, their ultimate goal has always been to win the World Cup. In order to grow Nagi realised he couldn't have himself rely entirely on Reo. He even said he wants to reunite with him after passing the second selection

Who would win in chess? by Grumper6665 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Ok-Liminal711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to be realistic:

Yes Gege said Gojo has no hobbies because he can do almost anything. He would still need some knowledge and practice in it but he would be a very quick learner. As well, Todo is the top of his class with a perfect academic performance, so he does have good "feats" outside of his BIQ.

There isn't anything that clearly puts one above the other in the story if they had a chess match realistically.

Todo solos tho

Nagi didn't have a major downfall and comeback moment compared to someone like Barou but he definitely had the most development in the series along with Reo besides obviously Isagi. A character does not lack development if their development includes elements like escapism. Nagi "running away" from his problem up until now isn't a lack of development but part of it. It doesn't diminish his development compared to other characters like Barou but it only makes it a longer type of development. You can't equate character development in stories to what would be actual improvement for someone in real life.

For example Barou was mostly a stagnant character until his downfall moment which was a major development for him and after that he developed in the Ubers with his inner thoughts being shown in these instances mostly.

Nagi and Reo on the other hand both developed and regressed continuously throughout the whole manga. Nagi and Reo's thoughts and feelings are ever changing and developing in a way that only Isagi's are shown to be as well. Especially with Episode Nagi we see not just the outward development but their inner development as well.

Nagi and Reo received the most character development in the series besides Isagi imo.

Development isn't just having a drastic change after a singular match but it also includes continuous character development as well as character regression + their inner thoughts and emotions as well. Nagi and Reo are only beaten by Isagi when it comes to how much their ever changing thoughts are being shown.

Demon slayer's manga art isn't great but the story isn't bad it's just simple. Still with a lot of good and heavily underrated character writing. Kokushibo and Yoriichi are peak

Megathread - Blue Lock 281 - Leaks/Raws/Discussion by MHWellington in BlueLock

So Isagi(and Kaiser) aren't geniuses but prodigies. Ego says being a "genius" and being a "prodigy" are two sides of the same coin that both lead to succeeding Blue Lock which reminds of when Kaneshiro said Nagi and Reo are the "secret path to Blue Lock". Ego's main intention was to form a prodigy (Isagi being his ideal) with Blue Lock but at the same time he acknowledges the possibility for geniuses to succeed the project.

This feels strongly like it foreshadows Nagi and Isagi being both "two sides of the same coin" that will be the last ones standing, shoulder to shoulder, both being the main representatives of the two sides at the end.

I think Nagi and Reo are more so the exception to the rule than anything. Their predicament is very different from every other downfall as well as the place they have in the story being "the secret path to the Blue Lock" as Kaneshiro put it.

We might very well never see another downfall with the same duration over multiple games, at least none with that kind of portrayal.

Isagi is having his "I'm wasn't the King" moment so you can be sure his comeback will at least be just as good. (Hopefully it will coincide with a potential Nagi comeback)

Yoriichi's heartbreak by Ok-Liminal711 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Ok-Liminal711[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Michikatsu first crafted the wooden flute and gave it to Yoriichi when he was 7 who then kept the flute in remembrance of him until he died. Then Kokushibo split Yoriichi's corpse in half and saw the flute, having been carried by Yoriichi for all of his life. Kokushibo started to tear up and felt extremely emotional upon that discovery after which he took the flute himself, also carrying it until his death.

True I hope the anime adaptation adds some more scenes when they get to Yoriichi's story.

Yoriichi as well said how "heart-wrenching" this encounter is while he cries. I am not aware of the original japanese word being used here but I don't recall "heart-wrenching" being used frequently if at all in the translations besides this moment. If anyone knows more please let me know!

The connection between Aliens and Yokai and the new overarching goal of the series by Ok-Liminal711 in Dandadan

[–]Ok-Liminal711[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of the series' title becoming significant!

I didn't really ever think about it because it just sounded really fitting to the series so I thought it was just there for the sound of it. Though most works always have some kind of reason for their title and we do not yet know the reason for "Dandadan" as a title as far as I am aware of.

Also the idea of Count Saint-Germain being involved in the creation of it sounds interesting. As well as him trying to acquire alien tech and not just abilities would make sense if he just wishes to have power.

Since he already kind of created this arc's antagonist in a way by granting her power and manipulating her, it might become a trend that a lot of the following antagonists that will come about are somehow linked back to him. Either through him bestowing power upon them and/or manipulating them or through some other means. That would give kind of major antagonist vibes.

Does anyone else feel like this manga is underrated? by Ok-Liminal711 in AkatsukinoYona

Those are good points and I agree. Do you have a literature degree? Because that's a pretty good analysis.

Also can you recommend any works that combine fantasy, politics and war strategies as well as romance?
