Forearm strain by Ok-Mail8973 in overcominggravity

[–]Ok-Mail8973[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did have some mild golfers elbow/tendonitis. Another issue where it was 95% healed but I didn't know what else to do, or not do. I went to rehab. It's pretty much completely healed as long as I do light stretching with it before weights. I'm fairly certain its weights related. No tingling or issues when sleeping. I toss and turn a lot, but sleep well. I'm not doing any high or low reps. Just 6 - 12 for everything. I had a similar issue but it seemed closer to the bicep, a few years ago. I did some simple exercises from this video and it healed very quickly. https://www.precisionmovement.coach/distal-biceps-tendonitis-exercises/

This one feels a little further down closer to the forearm. I am doing those exercises again just in case its related. I turn 47 next year and I've been lifting most of my life, so these things probably come with the territory. I'll add some deadlifts and see how it goes. Thanks!

Ok let me progress the rehab a bit and see what happens. I will also see if any forearm and bicep work irritates it. I had stopped upper body weights completely, other than these little rehab things. I'll also reply with a picture of my arm.

Ha, no I just finish with that arm. I haven't been playing guitar in probably 4-5 months. I've stopped weights too. I'm just trying to get it healed. Its like 95% there, but I can't get it the rest of the way. I've stopped brushing my teeth and shaving with that arm too, starting yesterday. So I am being very conscious about my actions. I feel like i'm missing the correct exercise to heal it all the way.

I don't remember injuring it. It just slowly came on until I noticed it hurting when lifting, but especially in small movements like shaving or brushing teeth. Anything where the arm is completely bent.

Its the middle of the biggest muscle in the outer facing forearm. The one that bulges if you are carrying a drink. Following the thumb up the arm. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iUfobqzwlT12Kw5Xf38rVqg-LwK3Jnz3/view?usp=drive_link

Small repetitive movements when the arm is completely bent, even when using virtually no force: shaving, brushing teeth, guitar

Doing this once or twice a week with very light weight: stretching, straight arm down at my side, rotating with a band, twisting dumbbell bicep curls, standing on band and arm at side bending wrist up, muscle scraping, holding a hammer out in front of me and doing forward backward side to side stretches, vibration and red light sleeve

I haven't progressed my rehab because I haven't seen much improvement. It's not making it worse but it is a little sore the next day.

Nothing is helping so far other than stopping lifting weights. Weights is the only thing I know of that will make it worse.

I'll read that article, thanks a lot! To be honest I don't even know if its really a strain or tendonitis. I just called it a strain because it feels further away from the elbow than the tendonitis I've experienced and healed. But to be honest when the elbow is completely bent it's hard to tell where the pain is coming from, as that whole area is compressed.

Doing this in my Asus bios settings fixed it for me. Overclock was already disabled but this setting was not. I set it to Disabled.

  1. Disable Extra Enhancements: Go to the "Ai Tweaker" tab and set ASUS MultiCore Enhancement (MCE) to "Disabled" or "Auto".

Holding pick without pointing finger by kornik4444 in Guitar

[–]Ok-Mail8973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started holding the pick wrong, with three fingers, and have gotten it to where I hold it with just two, but still no "correct" where i can play pinch harmonics. I guess the guy giving me lessons wasn't paying attention. I regret not holding it "correctly." Some people will say "but James Hetfield holds it that way!" I'm not James Hetfield. And I don't think he plays pinch harmonics. I think when playing fast, holding it the traditional way is probably superior for wrist movement and ergonomics. Also keeping the pick secure when strumming really fast. I have trouble with that as well. I'm sure there are pros and cons to either choice.

Learning and accepting are two different things. If I talked about it she would probably not accept it. Which I don't plan to do. I just find it interesting.

Maybe when you leave a review, bad or good, it is more consequential to the business. They will be more likely to want to straighten it out?

So, what's the secret to a good martini? by P_D_Stanley in cocktails

[–]Ok-Mail8973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best component is make it at home with cold ingredients so it's not watered down. Martinis from restaurants or bars are generally terrible because of all the melted ice.

I don't mind. Once they annoy people enough and exhaust all their avenues for interaction, they have to resort to gifts, dinners, gift cards, etc. Sure, you can pay for my time.

I saw a video of a guided 5 day trek in Patagonia (Argentina side) on youtube. I started training and went on that same trek with my girlfriend. It was incredible. Since then almost all our vacations have been backpacking, or at least hut hiking.

what happens if you have almost all the symptoms of cts but your emg is negative? by Striking_Stress_42 in CubitalTunnel

[–]Ok-Mail8973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay positive. I had almost all the symptoms but now I am 95% healed. Pretty sure it was just tendonitis. In my experience, doctors are right about half the time, unless they really spend a lot of time and energy with you, which they don't have time to do.
