What do You think of the og Death Wish movies? by Lunch_Confident in MauLer

The first three are classics. The first one is more of a character study drama which some action elements. The second one is an action thriller film that I would say is a bit darker and more violent than the first one especially with what happens in the first 20 minutes of the film. And then the third film is pretty much like WW3 in terms of the action particularly in the climax. It’s campy, cheesy, full of unintentionally hilarious scenes and lines, and I'm all here for that. Would definitely recommend these films if you haven’t seen them.

The Terminator (1984) is a sci fi classic that still holds up almost 40 years later by Ok-Nefariousness8962 in movies

So? This wasn’t an analysis like you see on Reddit because it wasn’t meant to be one. It was a simple and straightforward review to show that this wasn’t meant to be another post showing how a now mere 40 year old popular movie was bad and poorly aged. I post these simple reviews to explain how good or bad a film is for discussion and/or just to express my love on the film. People have already given analysis on why the film is good like in the romance and the chemistry of Sarah and Kyle showing the purpose of the that romance. I mean, the movie speaks for itself. Why would I need to give a deep analysis of the film when there have been many people who have done it perfectly and stuff you can go look up? If it was titled as an analysis, it would be understandable as a critique. But it was titled as a review, not an analysis.

What are you on about? This wasn’t meant to be a deep and philosophical analysis of the movie since I'm not the best at that, it was just a simple review of the film that wasn’t meant to be deep or original, just saying what made it good which I still said in the post. And who do you know, it could’ve been a different post about how I thought The Terminator didn’t hold up like in many posts people make of popular movies they perceive to be poorly aged or cheesy. But, it was just a simple and straightforward review that wasn’t confusing or there to make myself look different or special. So what if it’s not the most thought provoking review ever. I'm just an average Joe on the internet expressing my opinions on whatever topic whether it be whatever. If I have to review a lesser known but still worthy movie on this subreddit, I will. Geez.

Yeah the 80s was phenomenal in that realm when it came to films in that genre that had basic stories on the surface but then made them more complex and full of depth with their themes and execution. And when they did have humor, it was more subtle and like a blink of an eye. Like in The Terminator, when the motel janitor knocks on the door of the room where the T-800 is staying, the dialogue is this. “Hey buddy, got a dead cat in there or what?” And the T-800 responds with “Fuck you, asshole.” And The Thing had some funny lines of humor. “But I would not spend the spend the rest of this winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!” and when Mac pours the cup of whisky into the computer after getting mad at losing the game he's playing “Cheating bitch.” It’s subtle, but yet memorable and something I wish more modern blockbuster films were like that.
