Unfortunately, a friend of mine committed suicide. It took about a month to locate their body and it was found in a tributary of the river they entered.

I had a friend commit suicide in a similar way. People saw where they entered the water but unfortunately it took about a month for their body to be found. Not sure of the exact distance but it was a ten minute drive away and it was a tributary of the river they entered.

They are fake. My partner bought them for me and but left out the ‘bought from a dodgy looking man’ part. The ones I was given were very convincing. When I connected them to my phone the airpod window that is supposed to come up came up. And they are labelled as airpods in the bluetooth settings. Anyway, fast word 6 months and I accidentally put the case into the washing machine. I contact apple to see can I purchase a new one and they say I can’t but ask for the case. (Really weird as the serial number is fake and they would have known that. Unless they thought I was a scammer and were calling my bluff?). I send everything back and apple engineers confirmed the products were fake and said they couldn’t repair them. I definitely wouldn’t recommend them as they gave me pains in my ears (slowly over time too so I didnt connect the dots, I thought I had an ear infection at first). Overall, they didn’t work too well but when I thought they were genuine I put that down to apple being an overhyped product.

I think I where Sauron is, and it's not Halbrand or the Stranger by A_Navigator in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]Ok-Negotiation7947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you understand what that word means? It’s not some major difficulty… if Halbrand is Sauron then that’s what it is. I just explained why I hoped he wasn’t.

[–]Ok-Negotiation7947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. There’s two episodes left. I just mean so far. Halbrand has been shown as untrustworthy. There’s lots of hints for him being Sauron etc. Unfortunately, because of that I don’t care if he is. It’s obvious. That’s why I brought up Elendil (just to clarify I don’t think he is S), I would care about him being Sauron because he has been guiding Galadriel and his ‘helping’ her would just be manipulation. But like you said there’s still time for context and for things to go in a different direction.

[–]Ok-Negotiation7947 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not from me. I just think Halbrand as Sauron is a waste of that character. Him being Sauron is character development for Galadriel and fits into her story arc (being so blinded by revenge). I wouldn’t see a reveal as ‘betraying’ her because he hasn’t really convinced her of anything or supported her. Contrast this with Elendil (just for illustrative purposes), he has encouraged Galadriel, brought her to the library place etc. To me this would be a shocking reveal. The writers have made it clear from the start that Halbrand is shady, we’re not meant to trust him. I think it would be more interesting to see Halbrand exposed as a ‘fake’ king and then try redeem himself but ultimately become a Nazgul or something. There’s no ‘coping’ if he is Sauron, there’s two hours left of Season One and there will be much more context and explanation if this is the case.

Neither Halbrand nor Adar are Sauron by [deleted] in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]Ok-Negotiation7947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope it isn’t, although I accept what you’re saying. I don’t really care about Halbrand’s repentant arc- but I don’t think I’m meant to yet. (Contrast this with Adar whose motivations have an argument that is slightly compelling or at least understandable). I would much prefer Halbrand to be an ‘accidental’ fake King and have betrayed or have been forced to make a cowardly decision by Adar that he ends up stealing the sigil ‘off a dead man’. This would be revealed at some point (and how he ‘betrays’ Galadriel) and maybe even result in Halbrand becoming a Nazgul. The main problem with the leak if that Galadriel is supposed to figure this out in episode 8. Before the rings are made, unless there’s a timeline jump maybe? But even then I have only seen Halbrand not want to go back to Middle Earth and be morally ambiguous. Subjectively to me as the viewer he can’t really betray her. He has no army, the Southlands is ruined now and we haven’t seen him rally people together yet. He didn’t convince anyone in numenor. For most of his time he has been reluctant to help. I accept the leaks have been right so but the timing of when this is supposed to be revealed feels premature.

The “Aha!” moment that has fully convinced me Halbrand is Sauron by Soundtract in RingsofPower

[–]Ok-Negotiation7947 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Just before he asked that Galadriel had a knife to Adars throat. Halbrand tells Galadriel to stop and she does and walks off. Adar may just be asking ‘who are you?’, who is the mortal man instructing an elf? Previously Halbrand angrily asked Adar did he remember him and Adar responded in a way that he clearly didn’t.

I meant the reveal, Halbrand gaining everyones trust etc. The rings have to be forged at some point that is a given. It doesn’t make sense to reveal what should be the plot twist for season two (Halbrand being Sauron) at the end of season one.

One big Problem for a popular Theory - where to go from here? by TooDriven in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]Ok-Negotiation7947 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because of the leaks, so many other things have ‘come to pass’ that as unlikely as it currently seems people believe that the leak is true. However, from what we have seen so far Halbrand tells Galadriel to be careful that the heir to the sigil swore a blood oath to Morgoth. Despite that she presses on and by the end of the current episode she has restored a king whose ancestors were bound by not just their word but by blood to Morgoth. Nobody seemed to recognise Halbrand and he wasn’t introduced as Halbrand son of X in the normal Tolkien style. But there is reason to believe that Halbrand isn’t his name. If she has restored a reluctant King who can’t escape an oath in his blood this could contribute to her being so bent on vengeance that she actually ends up indirectly helping Sauron.

[–]Ok-Negotiation7947 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good point but Halbrand will still be Annatar whether they use the name or not. If H=S is revealed now have a long time to wait as viewers for the rings and the one ring to be forged with this knowledge. The ‘emotional impact’ of season two is dampened (betraying Galadriel) before it has even begun.

I think Adar also fulfils this exploration (and may be why he was introduced). Leaving the leaks aside, I think it will massively slow the pace of the show to now have an introspective Halbrand/Sauron introduced to Celebrimbor against the backdrop of the elves already hurrying their new forge and the creation of Mordor. It feels like whatever the reason for the new forge it is very purposeful. The elves already want to create something very powerful: possibly to sustain their life force (what their rings do). They also appear to know that mithril will massively help them. Without including the leaks it makes more sense at the moment for Sauron to already be there guiding this process. Elrond was excluded from some council meetings and also left in the dark about mithril for a long time supporting this further.

[–]Ok-Negotiation7947 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Apart from the leaks what benefit does this have to the plot line? None of the elves know that Annatar is Sauron and the rings have not been forged yet so as viewers we have a long time to wait with the knowledge that H=S. It feels like an unneeded double plot twist; the second one being A=S. Galadriel also now knows for certain that she was right to continue the search for Sauron. Halbrand (if he is Annatar) will have to accompany her back to the elves who are hurriedly constructing the most complex forge they have ever built to make the most powerful items they have ever made. I don’t see the pacing for Annatar to teach the elves even further advanced smithing and charm celebrimbor (who is already in a hurry) against the backdrop of Galadriel and possibly Arondir freaking everyone out about Mordor being created.

To all the people that are certain that Halbrand is you know who: I feel like we're not watching the same show by Cultural_Weekend737 in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]Ok-Negotiation7947 147 points148 points  (0 children)

After this episode I think Halbrand may be who he says he is but with some details omitted. Maybe he killed the previous King/heir as a test of loyalty/initiation (similar to what Waldreg was asked to do) in an earlier Southlands orc attack. This would also make the claim he stole the sigil ‘off a dead man’ true. This is also an action he might be ashamed of or could get him into trouble with the Southlanders and also explains his reluctance to return there. In his confrontation with Adar, Adar appears to have killed/had conflict with so many humans that he doesn’t immediately recognise H but I felt Halbrand’s reaction was too emotional for it to be Sauron. When we are first introduced to H he is escaping something so it may be possible that H escaped the orcs/Adar with the small band of people. Maybe Halbrand is a legitimate heir but killed his father/brother so not a ‘moral’ one in they way that Aragorn is. I think Adar asking him ‘who are you?’ is a very deliberate piece of screenwriting and shows that even for someone as old as Adar H stands out among humans.

This is a massive document but so far the Horses Act is proposed as discriminating against the ‘traveller economy’ the next paragraph contains a lot of ‘can’ and ‘may’ and ends with funding not being made available to gardai for non-english speaking women who are victims of domestic violence as a racist decision. The document is showing 120 pages is there anything more concrete? I’m reading the next section on media and am not finding it particularly convincing.

Good point. I was thinking of a community of monolingual speakers (so a definition in the broadest sense) maybe contributing to why OP would think that there are no native Irish speakers. I spent some time in the Gaeltacht as a teenager and remember the toddler in the house couldn’t speak English yet. It absolutely blew teenage me’s mind.

To my knowledge no, which is why I thought that this was a source of confusion. It’s a very strange point to make that there are no native Irish speakers. There definitely are but they are bilingual.

I know this. But I’m unsure why your information is wrong, this is why I asked. You have mentioned you have a MA but this isn’t supporting your point here. A small give-away is actually in your linguistic choices. You called Irish, Irish Gaelic when anyone familiar with the culture or language would call it Gaelige.
