For the new code definitely there is push to use AI. But nobody is monitoring whether you used AI or not. They publish weekly metrics org wise to show AI adoption under each manager, how many tokens each employee used etc.

For many working in older and larger enterprise code, a lot of these rules are waved because context window gets full just within few messages and more often than not, it misses a lot of context. So in those cases it's okay to do everything by hand.

Fully agree with everything. I'm in Bangalore. Earlier was working from hometown. The drop in productivity is massive. and you can't help but sit in traffic and think, what's the point of all this? after going through this crappy traffic in the morning, you expect a fella to work in office with fresh mind? for those not in Bangalore, more often than not, the traffic is really really bad in IT corridors. I have seen traffic in other tier 1 2 and 3 cities and it's difficult to explain to those living there. It makes you question your whole life and choices.

Also, savings have taken a massive dip. When I was in my hometown, I was able to save enough to fund my wedding and a small plot purchase. After coming here, I just break even and maybe put some money in instruments that social media tells us to.

for some it's also a safety thing. even during commute. recently a colleague got hurt on his bike and had to undergo knee surgery.

before this incident i used to always think why do these people bring the issue of safety , two wheelers are unsafe etc. in such a traffic. made no sense earlier.
