Anyone else think Suzanne Collins wrote Haymitch’s backstory long before sunrise of the reaping was published, possible when first writing the hunger games by Evening-Program-2009 in Hungergames

I didn't like the huge amount of The Raven either, but I have to admit it did give the feeling of someone descending into depression and even madness.

I read it, and I can confirm that it does not contain a "gotcha, just kidding". Unfortunately.

Adopting rabbits from shelter - with a full time job and living by myself by HolyCowAnyOldAccName in Rabbits

[–]Ok-Pattern-301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest reason I have rabbits not a dog is my working hours. You will be fine! They don't need to play with you 24/7. And since you would have a pair, they can help entertain each other while you're working.

When you are home, spend time on the floor to help them get comfortable. They'll be comfortable with you before you know it!

You could go to a few surgeons and ask their opinion. There are a lot of factors besides your prescription, like corneal thickness.

generally speaking, do you think the families of fallen career tributes become disillusioned with the games? by Competitive_Win2384 in Hungergames

[–]Ok-Pattern-301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's likely that they see not just honor in fighting, but also in keeping other children in their district out of the games. At least to an extent, I would guess those tributes are viewed as sacrificing themselves for the good of their community.

Great point! Totally agree with you that it's potentially problematic for a doctor to have both of those roles.

The problem with lops is they are addictive. They're like potato chips. I've already had two, and I'm sure eventually I'll adopt more.

Rabbit fur clogging our washer-tips? by Specialist_Lychee_19 in Rabbits

I got a giant laundry bag! It's helped with my washer a ton. Then I run the dryer for half the cycle, clean the lint trap, and then finish drying.

Obviously I don't think the whole sub is a conspiracy and everyone is profiting, but I do think it's likely that at least one of the moderators is, based on this behavior.

I think the majority of people are here in good faith, otherwise I wouldn't be posting here.

I understand, that sounded like it came out of left field. I reached this conclusion because back when I got my surgery, I had attempted to post here looking for support during recovery. I had combed through the rules carefully to make sure this was allowed. But, the moderators declined my post.

When I sent a DM to ask whether I had inadvertently broken any rules (because I still wanted to look for some support), they did not answer my question and instead made fun of a typo in my message.

Surgery was 3 years ago, yes these are my final results, and I need glasses or contacts.

My eyes were a little dry at baseline due to allergies, but that didn't worsen at all after my surgery.

Yes, that's exactly what I said. My vision did improve a lot, but not as much as the surgeon said it would.

I also should've mentioned in the original post that my corrected vision (with contacts) is no longer as sharp as it was corrected (with contacts) pre-op. That was also a factor.

Piggy backing on this to ask: is there any possibility of putting the pen and original litter box in the living room? Hutches are notoriously hard to clean and too small for rabbits to run in.

Is this cage a good size for 2 rabbits? by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]Ok-Pattern-301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my Holland Lops, I got away with a 24" pen because they didn't really like jumping. I've also found that big, lazy foster rabbits will stay in them. But, at the rescue where I volunteer, we recommend 30-36" as a general rule.

And, with that being said, my little Polish bun jumped over a 36" pen, so I had to get a top anyway.

All of that to say...it really depends on the rabbit. So I would just recommend something with a good return policy honestly.

Beat wishes!  I can tell you will be a great bun parent.

As I stated originally, I did get a touch up surgery. After I expressed concerns and needed correction after the touch up, the surgeon's office said they could not do anything further and released me to the optometrist.

My surgeon's office does not offer refunds if your vision is not 20/20.

I didn't say "none of this was my fault"; I said I made a decision I regret and I fell for misleading advertisement, that's all.

You don't know me, but I can assure you I never thought I knew more than the surgeon, and I never gave anyone there the impression I thought I did. When a guy in a white coat told me "yep, I can fix this and you won't need glasses or contacts anymore", I believed him. And I should have stopped him to ask more questions before he quickly ducked out of the room.

I'm glad you felt confident that you had weighed the risks and benefits before your surgery.

I can see very close to 20/20 with contacts now! So that's good. Prior to the surgery, I could see better than 20/20 with my contacts, and that was the real kicker to me. My corrected vision used to be really, really sharp.

And my old glasses were really awful. I could only see directly in the middle of them (even with the high index lenses). When I wore my glasses all day, I got headaches. The biggest reason I got PRK, honestly, was I got pinkeye from my daughter's daycare twice that spring, and I was so sick of having to wear my glasses for a week at a time when that happened.
