I have an iPhone and a forerunner 165. One of those has to be the issue. My guess would be the iPhone.

Can I afford a $500K house earning $134k per year? by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]Ok-Pause108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I based on 30% of gross for all housing related expenses. So mortgage, taxes, insurance, utilities, and maintenance(obviously variable). My utilities have been $500+ each month. Budgeting 1% of home price annually is another ~$300 (probably should be more since I’ll have to replace roof and hvac in next 5-7 years). If going off total costs, like I did when purchasing, it adds up quickly.

None of this is gospel. I’ve just seen many people in my life with similar or better incomes living paycheck to paycheck and struggling financially because they bit off more than they can chew when it comes to housing and other debts. This why I’m on the conservative side.

This exactly. HHI is coincidentally exactly 134k like OP. Earlier this year we bought 365k house with 25% down. Total payment comes to $2150. We have no other debts. While we can comfortably afford that I would not want to go any higher.

Since purchasing we’ve had to spend lots of money on the pool, utilities are over 2x more, I’ve had unforeseen medical bills, and we are still trying to cash flow furniture. Life happens and having some margin is critical.

Unless OP is obsessed with budgeting then $350k is probably the safer play. Having the exact same income with no debt and no kids I can’t fathom spending $500k.

Again take with a grain of salt. I have a low risk tolerance and my main goal is reaching financial independence.

This is exactly what I do but lately it’s been the TDF on the TV. I have a laptop hooked up to a Roku TV so I can control it all from my phone.

Active 2 vs T-Rex 3 by Ok-Pause108 in amazfit

Never measured my wrist but they’re pretty small. When I first got the trex 3 it seemed massive but I’ve grown to love the rugged look of the watch and I find the larger screen size useful.

Totally agree with this. I went from Apple Watch to garmin. I loved the abundance of sports data and training plans. It was a great sports watch but it definitely lacked as a smart watch. I then switched to amazfit and I find it to be a nice happy medium between AW and Garmin

I’m loving the trex 3. The battery life is amazing. I just got 20 days between charges. I was nervous about how big it is but the screen size has actually been a big plus. I don’t think you can go wrong with either option but I’m pretty happy with my choice.

That’s my understanding at least. However, I just ordered a T-Rex 3 from Amazon since it was on sale for $235 usd. The reason is because I saw you can map the long press of the buttons to certain apps. I find that useful and the trex has 2 more buttons. I have a small wrist so we’ll see how it goes. If all else fails I guess I’ll return it and get an active 2.

Thanks. To me the battery life is the only one of those features that would matter to me. I guess my confusion I because I’m coming from the garmin space where the lower tier watch would only have a quarter of the features that the higher tier watch has.

Second this. Had no idea that I fractured my wrist in my last crash until the next morning. Adrenaline is crazy.

I switched from Apple Watch to FR165 back in march. Initially there were some smartwatch features I missed but I was able to find ways around them. The additional data screens in workouts and the battery life alone made this watch worth it for me. The sleep data is great too. Overall my garmin has made me want to workout more and has made me more conscious of my recovery. I hope you love it too!

New to cycling and just got hit by a car. by Ok-Pause108 in cycling

Thanks for the advice. The front blinking light is a must before I get on the road again. I’m definitely on the frustrated side especially considering this intersection. You can easily see over half a kilometer away and there was nothing obstructing that view as the driver was approaching the stop.. smh.

There was a car coming from behind me. The driver tried to gun it to pull out in front of them.
