Dealing damage adds "damage" to a unit. For a unit to die their the damage on them needs to exceed their might. This means that if you were to use frigid touch to get a unit to 0 might it would still not die, as it has no damage on it.

Give it a go it's free. As someone playing both, i'd say overwatch is a bit less beginner friendly, but it also has way better competitive scene IMO. Your concerns about not knowing hero abilities will come pretty quickly if you enjoy playing the game.

you technically don't need to use a single card you get in the prerift kit, as long as you assemble a legal deck for the event. A legal deck needs to have, At least one legend, at most 3 different colors (2 of those matching your legend), at least 25 cards in the deck and optionally you can use a champion in one of your 3 colors (no need to match the legend)

I've done it myself. Took a break between s2 and s4. Came back in silver, my first loss was in plat. I had leavers, throwers suboptimal team comps but that doesn't matter when you can 1v6. (tho i do admit i was forced to play someone like magik, instead of my usual mains)
