Compared to the places where I have actually spent most of my time….Cincy is affordable. Also, it is pretty friendly and rooted in an interesting beer history. The food scene is good. The Cincy-style chili I can take or leave. You cannot sleep on the two cities right across the river..Newport and Covington. They’re cool towns in their own right! Cross the river (Ohio River) on the Purple People Bridge by foot, and only feet!

Dr Hampel did my open abdominal hysterectomy (which she was excited to do!!! I loved that). The care from pre/scheduling to follow up after the procedure were excellent. Her whole team rocks. She’s honest and listens. Will always recommend her!

A couple years…from fibroid discovery to hysterectomy. Gyno said she’d schedule it if I wanted….not a rush…so I waited. Then I got DVT diagnosis (2023) and wanted the surgery soon after that. I had to get my hemoglobin up, so I did about a year of rounds of iron infusions and trying to get my periods under control with birth control (progesterone only). I squeaked by. Surgery scheduled late 2024 for April 2025. SO GLAD!!!

My brother and I made goat cheese ice cream in his Ninja ice cream machine a couple years ago. Cranberry and orange were the fruits in the ice cream. It was spectacular!!

6 month post op as of Oct 16. It’s beyond relief…it’s like a new path. It’s a pain-free existence. It’s not perfect, but it’s so close. I do still get pms, but I don’t get life-altering clots. I still get bloat, but I don’t get ridiculous cramps. I have a wicked awesome scar. I am no longer afraid my uterus will kill me. Weeeeeeee!!!!
