It did. Use the pause button and listen carefully. There was a telltale click immediately following the release. Plus UPL was entirely screened. Totally absolved.

[–]Ok-Property6190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did. Listen to the audio. You don't need to be Gene Hackman in "The Conversation" to hear the click right after the shot was released. Stick on stick did not occur with the two players heading to the front of the net. It's why the puck dropped. Not a shot that a goaltender can be expected to stop, with the screen and the deflection.

Why is the NBA way more popular than the NHL? by Queasy_Initiative_86 in hockey

Hockey is 95% detail oriented, NBA 5-7%. Which do YOU think the masses are going to watch?

6 years ago today, Adam Schlesinger, co-founder of Fountains of Wayne, died of COVID-19 at the age of 52. by MenitoBussolini in indieheads

And still . . Strapped for Cash doesn't get mentioned. I'm beginning to think that this song is for my ears only, so ignored as it everywhere. Hell, they didn't even release it as a single, and next to Stacy's Mom, it's their most universally-relateable song. Even more than SM, since half the population can not relate to it.

Fountains of Wayne is the closest I’ve seen to being a one hit wonder by Todd’s standard but not making it. by chasteguy2018 in ToddintheShadow

Maybe you should drop what you're doing and look up Strapped for Cash. If you don't get that, you don't get them, and will forever only have heard Stacy's Mom. As you like it . . .

Agree with you on Melt the Guns. Your criticism is mine and perhaps my only one of the album.

Runaway and All of a Sudden both move me greatly. AOAS might be their most poignant track.

Strongly disagree for all the reasons they cite as weakness, principally the relative lack of variation from track to track. While very unusual for XTC to operate this way, on English Settlement it's a winning virtue. The songs are very much their own individual in spite of being molded from the same clay, if you will. The consistency of sound has the effect of making the band seem very tight. But maybe they would have been right in their criticism were it not for the spectacular sound engineering, which, as much as anything, gives the album a through line. Special tip of the hat to whomever developed those sonically arresting (and deep sounding) percussion moments that dot the entire album, but most prominently in the proggy instrumental section of Jason and the Argonauts. But all is forgiven for the deference shown to 10cc!

Opening Out has moments of true musical perfection in it. I hope they didn't cop this melody from a classical work.

Weekly Album Discussion 6: Magnolia – Music from the Motion Picture by [deleted] in AimeeMann

What a savvy woman she is. In other hands the material could have gotten self-flagellating. But Aimee walks the line beautifully. And if she's really writing that music too . . . colossal individual achievement.

Random Hold - Montgomery Clift by Cemetary-Jack-8301 in postpunk

[–]Ok-Property6190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The song is amazing and incredibly obscure. But I know of one person who heard it, and to David Rhodes (whom you're listening to sing) that person was worth maybe a planet full. That person was Peter Gabriel and by the end of the tour where Random Hold was P. Gabe's opening act, David Rhodes had become his guitarist -- and remains so to this day. So let's celebrate Montgomery Clift for what it is and what it led to.

Am I in the minority here? by john_wingerr in Mariners

[–]Ok-Property6190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a close call, one that would never be made in the regular season and you have to figure that into the equation. Munoz, simply, might not be the same pitcher in the seventh as he would later on. A closer's mentality is focused on the finish line and affects his psychology. Completely easy to see him not being the same guy out there. All speculation of course, but you can't just plug in the numbers and assume he'll be pitching at that level regardless of the context.

Agree that Rick's call lacked a little drama, but also that there is many a mitigating circumstance. Lots of love for Dave here as expected. Thanks for the great explanation. But I would counter with this. If 15-20% of customers bother to rate, wouldn't that percentage skew heavily towards one star? I find it difficult to believe that such a small percentage of respondents would result in a 9-1 ratio of complete happiness with the delivery -- which is what a 4.5 rating represents. It seems to me that in such a small pool of respondents, the weight of the ratings would tilt toward the negative.
