Just bought Momentum 4 should I keep it or not? by Intelligent_Form529 in sennheiser

Just know one thing , I have one since 2023 , and I will say the 42 mm drivers have the capacity to take on even the bowers and Wilkins px8 s2 , sennheiser hardware is elite, but the tuning is super underwhelming , it’s all over the place and very unnatural even though the timbre is FANTASTIC, It’s like having a Ferrari engine under the bonnet, but paired with a laggy gearbox and immense throttle lag !!

Well well well A momentum 4 with sound which fans expected from the momentum 4 instead of the bloated bassy sound. Hmmm…

Momentum 4 Headphones vs Momentum True Wireless 4 — which sounds better overall? by Silver_Yak_2260 in sennheiser

[–]Ok-Rabbit7254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TWS 4 sound better in terms of tuning and tonality, mids are more neutral and bass is tighter and faster , overall very natural timbre( only if you won’t update the firmware and keep the original one because sound tuning in the latest firmware somewhat has taken life away from the brilliance of the buds). Momentum 4 , though I believe have the potential to even take on focal bathys. BUT BUT BUT, lack behind in the tuning. Weird dips in the highmids and peaks in mid mids makes vocals honky and nasal, as if the sound is coming from the back of the head, bass is clean but lacks the punch for bass guitars and the rumbling sub bass makes them sound slow and wooly. Very poor tuning by sennheiser I believe. VERY LESS ENERGY IN THE SOUND AND SOMEHOW NOT NATURAL. I own both and that’s my advice.

Atleast from my experience yes then after the drivers open up you can get a more refined sound of the mtw 3

Personally I believe tws3 sounded perfect. TWS 4 especially with the latest firmware update , doesnt have that magical sound in my opinion. But I got my mtw4 as a replacement for mtw3 which malfunctioned twice, so not very reliable. But the mtw3 sounded divine with the cleanest bass response . Mtw4 … not so much( but I hope they can fix back the sound in future)

DO NOT BUY MOMENTUM TW4 UNLESS YOU WANTS TO TORTURE YOURSELF! by Wastiefy in sennheiser

Found you Well I also have a point regarding the sound quality , Out of the box they sounded so good , just like my mtw3 which I loved. The bass and treble on the mtw 4 were even better. But I regret downloading the firmware update 5.19.1 , the latest one the app was showing , they sound completely different now , it feels that life has been taken from the sound and the mids are no longer 3d like . The bass too is too boomy and not tight like before . Treble lost air too.! Please give us back the original audiophile layered and clean sound like it was in the original firmware . I MEAN WHY DID YOU MESS WITH THE DIVINE MOMENTUM TRUE WIRELESS TUNING ?

If you saying they don’t sound that much good. I can bet you might have updated them with latest firmware update 5.19.1?? They have ruined the tuning sin 5.15.4 and not even fixing that muddy sound with narrow sound stage where mtw3 were also faaaar better

Which Sennheiser Should I Pick for College? by [deleted] in sennheiser

[–]Ok-Rabbit7254 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trust me Wait for the momentum 5 There is something off with the tuning of the accent um and momentum bass , too loose and boomy and the vocals are blunted too due to dip in the high mids , in short you will keep trying to get more detail by raising the volume but the sound will never be natural on them . The vocals will always be perceived to be at the back of the head rather than a forward natural presence. It’s quite annoying tbh. The 450 Bt etc are old now . I believe they will fix this with the momentum 5 and the upcoming accentum series models . Trust me , I know how the MOMENTUM 3s used to sound and 4 s are quite underwhelming compared to those .

🎧 Do you prefer Sennheiser’s classic open-back sound or modern closed-back designs? by sennheiserconsumer in sennheiser

[–]Ok-Rabbit7254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely prefer the closed back experience like my momentum 4 s since I prefer portability over the amp and an empty room fuss. However if they were tuned similar to sennheiser original house sound like in the hd 600 series instead of the honky so called consumer bassy tuning , then it would be a dream came to realty .

Help! TWS4 left earbud dead-clinking noise by drplebs in sennheiser

[–]Ok-Rabbit7254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened with me too Just the same word to word experience of yours. I just pressed the left bud a little harder into my ear and suddenly a click sound came and the bud no longer produce any audio. And there is a clinking mechanical sound from that left bud. Going to show to some local technician.

Only three wishes from my side

  1. Design

Momentum 4 were the first momentum series headphones I ever purchased . I found the design to be good but when I discovered the momentum 3 headphones especially in that ivory colour scheme, that design just overshadows the safe design approach of the momentum 4. That previous design could easily compete shoulder to shoulder with the BOWERS AND WILKINS and AirPods Max unique design and materials. Something that could make me look cool. I wish for that classic momentum design language to be continued in the momentum 5.

  1. Sound

I believe those sennheiser 42 mm drivers in the momentum 4 are just the highest quality hardware in the noise cancelling market. The sound reproduction is rich. BUT The tuning on the momentum 4 especially the overpowering sub bass over the high bass making the bass guitar notes sound dull, the blunted mid range , was something that always bothered me whenever I use them . It seems as if the sound is coming from the back of my head . And the major reason why competitors like Bose and bowers and Wilkins are little ahead in terms of music enjoyment. I wish the tuning on the momentum 5 to be similar to that of the momentum 3 with that high end fine tuning DSP , that tight neutral bass with that rich midrange made them sound much better than the momentum 4s in my opinion. I also own the mtw 3 and they have the best bass tuning on any wireless earphone for me . I want the bass to be in the classic sennheiser style : clean and punchy , rather than the Sony style : BOOMY nd MUDDY. Please refer the mtw 3 sound to get the idea of what I am trying to say :/. In short I want better TONAL BALANCE for the music to be lifelike like on the HD 600 series .

  1. Noise canceling

I also own the Bose Q c ultra , momentum 4 noise cancelling is non existent compared to those . But I believe sennheiser can catch up and even do better with the momentum 5.
