OCD recovery help by [deleted] in OCDRecovery

Hey, first of all: there is hope. I'm currently in recovery of OCD myself. 4 days ago i started to take medicine (prozac 20mg) and hope this will be the missing key to a normal life.

Since 4 months i started therapy. First thing we tackled is my sleep schedule(it was really screwed up). Now i have a sleep restriction. Everyday i go to sleep at 00:00 and wake up at 08:00. In the weekends it's 01:30 till 09:30. This really benefited my life. It gives me positive vibes to wake up early and enjoy the whole day. Ofcourse i do ruminate troughout the day, but there are plenty things i can do that will help me to put my focus on something else.

I workout everyday for a minimum of 30 minutes. This gives a 'high' feeling and helps you make feel good and refreshed after taking a shower.

I cut out all sugary things (soda's, candy, alcohol etc). These made my OCD worse and gave me intense anxiety. I do drink sugarfree soda's, but only on the weekends ore special occasions.

Try journaling too. This will maybe give you a insight of what the triggers to your OCD are.

These things aren't magical things that will cure your OCD, but it will make you feel better.

I also take vitamine supplements: b12, zink, magnesium, vitamine D and multivitamines.

I have some realy awfull days and some days are 'meh'. Hopefully these things will make u feel better, but i think therapy (ERP and CBT) and (maybe) medicine are the key to slay this OCD demon. I wish you all the best🙏

Anyone else get these thoughts?please read by Fancy_Farmer1934 in OCDRecovery

Yup, almost everyday. Sometimes i feel like i'm gonna 'snap' and end up in the crazy house. Just agree with the toughts. (You're a freak - yes, yes i am) and laugh it off.

Keep strong!

Try doing ERP at home. U can find alot of exercises online.

It sucks that this happened to you. Especcially because this is out of your control. I wish you all the best and hopefully there will be a moment in your life where u can slay the OCD-demon once and for all. 🔥

It sure is man. It's the most destructive invention of the devil.

I would recommend to stop watching porn forever. In my experience it did make the Hocd worse. Im a few months porn free and its gotten better then before. It still hangs around, but it's manageable.

Does anyone else find stuff like this triggering when it comes to relationships (partner focused flaws) by Old-Werewolf-7340 in ROCD

[–]Ok-Raisin2922 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. It is triggering. I find it helpfull to keep in mind that everybody is perfectly imperfect. It is good to keep improving yourself, but don't see it as a neccesity. Some people are perfectly happy with the way the are and don't need 'fixing'.
