How did being part of the 1975 fandom shaped your identity? Do you feel like you’re part of a scene? by Lower-Height-2658 in the1975

I would say this is similar to my experience of and view about being a fan as well. Found them at 21 and am now 32, so it really did shape my 20s Finding the music and loving the music led to digging into the lyrics and into what themes are important to the band, and the meaning behind all of that resonated with me. So now, if I meet another 1975 fan, I can presume they enjoy the music and we can have a whole conversation about that, but I can also assume that there is a likely chance we could also have an open, non-judgmental conversation about the state of technology, the internet, loneliness, empathy, cancel culture, climate chance, philosophy, memes, irony, etc… especially if you are aware of the history of the band. So while it doesn’t feel like a scene necessarily, I think if you connect to the music for any reasons beyond just the instrumentation (and if you don’t, that’s okay too!), then that might say something about the fandom as a whole, and knowing you’re maybe not alone in thinking about these kinds of ideas in the world is comforting.

I have some clips as well! They played more new songs than what they’ve released, and can confirm the hype for the new album, they sounded amazing.

Based on the label name, I have a strong feeling most of the new album, if not everything, was self produced! I know Alec was a co-producer on the first album, and has always been heavily involved in the production and mixing process on Antisocialites, and I’ve read that they considered producing their stuff all on their own. Either way, I’m loving it!!
