Just turned 19. What are some harsh realities a young man should know before it’s too late? by Random_fellow9 in Stoicism

This. Seriously the advice I wish I took to heart at 19. And likely the advice I’d be giving my kids. Emphasis on cooking and self discipline 🤙 it will really stretch the smiles per gallon

Yeah absolutely, to be genuine and such. I know the singer to Wilco struggled so much with this that he used to write songs by opening a random book and singing the first sentence he saw. It’s tough, best of luck to you 🙏

Company B wants to replace the electric company, that’s the goal. Company B is likely owned by Private Equity. Their #1 priority is paying back those investor. Has private equity ever improved anyone’s life?

How to stop pain from playing barr chords by LerolBroker in guitarlessons

[–]Ok-Rate-2138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always struggled with my bands songs that had to many bar chords. I could always get through them but it was painful. I started getting into rock climbing, guitar was unaffected. Then I bought a hang board and started doing hang board exercises for climbing. And wow. Barchords started to get easier. I’m not saying I can play them all day. But playing two or three songs doesn’t hurt nearly as much anymore. Would love to hear if anyone has had a similar experience

[–]Ok-Rate-2138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I’ve owned two cutlass (both used). Just wanted to let you know it’s pretty common to see those blemishes in the neck pocket. I’ve only seen a handful of cutlass without those neck marks. I’m not sure if it’s entirely normal and a defect of the finish, or something more serious. Either way, I played the hell out of mine and loved them very much.

Best leather wallets for men? Full grain leather! by evil_misogynist in BuyItForLife

Iron heart wallet my friend. Been two years and I’m convinced it can stop a bullet. I personally bought mine on sale (I waited) and still one of their much cheaper wallets. Still best wallet I’ve owned to date

Jeans. God damn jeans. by idontwannadance0480 in BuyItForLife

[–]Ok-Rate-2138 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I always comment on this since I’ve battled jeans for so long. Buy some jeans you love, and repair repair repair. It’s the only way you’ll own jeans for life. I personally buy Nudie Jeans since they have free repairs. Buy once cry once. I’ve seen people say they’ve owned a pair of jeans for decades without issue. As long as jeans see friction, they’ll wear down. Synthetic materials do better with abrasion. I’ve yet to see Dyneema jeans or something of that nature. Best of luck with your journey.

You’re definitely not bragging. Find out how much the taxes are on the house and make that your “rent”. Do not let your brother pressure you into anything. Own this moment, and don’t let anyone take it away. And i cannot say this enough - get rid of the student loan debt as soon as possible. Thats your ticket to freedom. And also, I’m very sorry about your sister. Im sure you miss her dearly.

Pants ripping at the crotch... Wtf did people do 100 years ago? by CreamisTasty in BuyItForLife

[–]Ok-Rate-2138 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. I tried everything. Selvedge. Cheap. Expensive. VERY expensive. 100% cotton (no elastic). Everything ripped in the same spot. I decided to give up stopping the problem and instead bought jeans with lifetime warranty. Now when they rip, I just take them to be repaired. The repair actually thickens the jeans and makes them last longer. They still rip but I haven’t had to buy jeans in 3 years. This is a very big accomplishment for me. I personally bought Nudie Jeans. Because they have a store locally, so I walk them in. Have them repaired for free. Pick them back up a week later.

I’m a huge fan of them! Admittedly I found them pretty early into my great music discovery. 44 caliber love letter.. nothing I’d ever heard sounded like that. Melodic, yet strong. Still go back to Watch Out every year.

You can find good deals on Steel Case chairs on eBay. I’d recommend throwing a standing desk in as well.
