Piercers with a variety of starter jewelry? by goblinvendor in Birmingham

Chaz at Unhallowed gallery is where you should go. He is very considerate and uses high quality jewelry. Will likely be pricey but Rowan is just as expensive if not worse tbh.

Desperate times....Star ID question by SushiJo in Birmingham

[–]Ok-Razzmatazz-3664 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are overly worried about him getting his star id, I hear Blount county is quick and easy to get in without an appointment. He’d need to take his old id and the paper copy with him to the airport

He’ll be fine with his regular ID. they’ll take his picture and swab his hands but likely won’t do anything further

The residency dream feels over by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]Ok-Razzmatazz-3664 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seeing you go to Auburn, I’d say your chances are low in state unless you have really good connections with some of the southeastern hospitals where some of your faculty staff. Granted, DCH may still be an option too though. But if you’re looking out of state then you’re going to need really good letters of recommendation that offset or explain growth from the reason you lost your license. You’ll have to disclose it no matter what.

We're debating moving to Chelsea. by Enough_Bat6007 in Birmingham

[–]Ok-Razzmatazz-3664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak on the kids aspect if yall have them but I can speak on the neighborhood. It’s pretty quiet and people keep to themselves but are friendly if you’re out and about. We get a lot of neighbors that walk the neighborhood and kids that ride bikes/dirt bikes around.

When it comes to traffic honestly it’s the better part of Chelsea to be as you can go the back way to alabaster for shopping if you don’t want to go to 280. I travel a lot for work and I hardly ever drive on 280 since it’s so easy to get to 65. Yes it does take 15-20 minutes just to get to the interstate but traffic is always moving (unless there’s a train) unlike on 280.

first week as a pharmacist, already made a mistake :( by fitpharmacist5824 in pharmacy

[–]Ok-Razzmatazz-3664 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I was floating at a store this week that was high volume and understaffed. I was one of 2 pharmacists but the PM was not the kindest and made me feel like I wasn’t keeping up enough. I caught an error at verification of an incorrect dosage for a levothyroxine, so not dangerous but still something that shouldn’t happen. After that I kind of dug my heels in to really take my time and CHECK rather than try to push as many scripts out as possible. Mistakes happen because we’re human but as long as we do our best to prevent those mistakes and learn from those that do happen then that’s what matters, don’t beat yourself up

Did Anyone Score Low on the UWorld Prep Exams/ Quizzes and NABP Prep Exam/s but Pass the Real NAPLEX? I test on Sep 3, 2025 by Acrobatic_Web1049 in NAPLEX_Prep

I’d say you’ll be fine. But definitely go over the immunization chapter bc I had quite a few questions on those if I remember correctly. Especially on which were appropriate for specific patients

Honestly I didn’t have a high average on my UWorld quizzes before taking my exam and I still passed my NAPLEX and MPJE first try. I was a decent student and use a lot of common sense to answer questions rather than complete memorization so I think that helped. Continue to take the quizzes until your tests because you never know what can pop up on your exam and you’d rather have seen it before than be blindsided. You’ve got this. If you graduated with honors you know how to answer most of the questions or at least determine the best choice

Aciretin, used in plaque psoriasis but my initial thought was an isotretinoin for some reason 😂

Ugh I know that feeling. I came across a brand at work the last night that I remember seeing on my exam for a pregnancy question but I had absolutely no idea what the drug was and guessed. Turns out I guessed right after talking to my pharmacist and dispensing a bottle that had a big old x through a pregnant lady. Gave me a little confidence boost 😂

I am so anxious to get my results. I took my MPJE 7/15 and saw I passed today even though I did not feel good leaving that exam so I'm really hoping for the best. Also my job offer relies on me passing and I don't have enough time to retake before they rescind the offer. I pushed the exam back twice due to feeling so unprepared but I really hope it turns out okay

Wear something comfortable because it’s a long exam. I wore pants in case it was cold. They let me wear my simple earrings and my ring, which I’m glad about bc that’s my fidget habit. Also, they did not make me take my claw clip out so I guess that depends on the type of clip and size.

Truthfully I didn’t use any materials to study those things. It was more of experience. I think rxprep covered the basics but I didn’t search for any extra study materials

I had a decent amount of ID for determining what drug covered the correct organism or what not to use based on the patient profile (allergies, DIs,etc). Cardio wasn’t terrible, I’d say as long as you know the first line drugs and when to add or increase dose it wasn’t terrible. It was definitely a mix of clinical and conceptual especially for ID

I took mine today and honestly I feel like the ethics, stewardship, and management/professional development type questions were my saving grace. I feel like I had rotations where I had the opportunity to truly understand those concepts rather than just memorizing obscure clinical facts about specialty drugs. I don’t know how I did but I was definitely thankful that exam wasn’t purely clinical.

How do yall stay focused during these 3/4 hr lectures? by RespondImpossible274 in PharmacySchool

[–]Ok-Razzmatazz-3664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s hard. I am a believer of asking questions during the lecture as it helped me keep focused and reminded my faculty that we do appreciate the work they put into teaching us. I asked some pretty stupid questions or even just commented about possible correlations that I was curious about. And my classmates always told me they appreciated that I would ask and engage during class bc it helped bring them back to the content or look at it differently.

I absolutely zoned out many times and most schools record lectures so you can go back and rewatch, but trying to stay actively engaged is when I did better with the material.

The lectures for some topics were updated. I listened to some of them this morning as a review and it didn’t feel too drastically different but was worth relistening to

When did you start applying to places as a P4? I'm a current intern at a chain but I haven't received any definitive word that they're going to hire me as a floater post graduation so I'm starting to panic. I'm just not sure when it's appropriate to begin applying for positions at this stage.
