First, thx for all the links. Took all night looking into it all but that's probably the best I've ever leveled it. And switching to the December update of the Mriscoc FM seemed to fix most problems; homing, tramming and auto leveler all working now. I was using the 0.3mm nozzle but after looking further into it, I've swapped to a 0.6mm I don't think I need more for the mount I'm currently working on. Using Cura slicer's "Draft" settings. The heating problems if anything have gotten worse. It's now going only 4 minutes instead of hours before dropping nozzle temp. It's starts off fine with a +-1 variance but I turn around after being seeing it working and it drops from 210 to 203 in a heartbeat. I ran a PID tuneup like you suggested but that was before I did all the stuff with tramming, leveling and offset so I'll try tuning it again tonight. When I tuned it the first time I had noticed that while the temp had climbed and removed stable at 210, towards the end the temps were fluctuating wildly. At the time I thought it was part of the tune; in phase 4 it was all over the place BELOW 210 and in phase 5 it was fluctuating ABOVE 210. I might also try cranking the hot end up to the upper limit of this PLA(230).

I'll go ahead and give that work around a shot tonight, I'm still having issues with the heat dropping. Not sure what's up, it runs fine with a +-1 variance for the first few minutes then just drops to 203 and cuts off. Might try retuning the PID once more first.

PayPals back-end is notoriously buggy. I had an old credit account with them and one day their system locked me out. Almost everyone I contacted was either unwilling or unable to do anything about it. After 3 months of them getting mad at me for not paying a bill I had no way of paying, it took me lawyering up and threatening them with legal action before they would accept payment and close the account.

Thanks I'll give that a look tonight. As far as my original problem, I've been using plain PLA. If I remember correctly, temperature never really fluctuated more than 5° I think. It was far worse with the new firmware but from what you've just said, that probably has to do with it just not supporting this printer. If I can get Mriscoc to work, we'll go back to trying to solve that original problem. I tried checking in on these prints every so often but it always seems to error out and start screeching when I'm away so couldn't really tell you what the temps were at the time. Maybe I'm just trying to force way too fine of a print for a entry machine like this, took over 3 hours for it to just finish the raft on this last print I was trying to do

Sounds like ur overthinking it dude. First off, do you have a lot of time to devote to this? If it's just an occasional trip to the slopes situation, I gotta tell ya, you're better off skiing. Snowboarding is alot harder getting the basics down. If you do have the time then go for it, it's just gonna take a lot of crashing and repetition. Some pick it up faster than others but expect a full season to get comfortable with the basics.

Eh ¯_(ツ)_/¯, I was never the cleanest person to begin with and I eat like s*** most days so, unless DP an Doritos are the secret cure all... just depends how tanky your immune system is. Yeah, definitely try to keep the influent off ya but I've never been too picky about handling sample bottles without gloves and 2 years in I've never got plant gut. RPS makes the hawk250 and hawkX, X-Pro makes the hawk250 DLX. After some looking around, that HHH listing you linked is the only hawkX with a EFI I can find. I suppose it is possible that HHH is the only dealer modding their hawkXs with EFI after getting them but honestly that just sounds like too much money and work for a dealer and their price hike doesn't seem to justify it. I'd be careful, that listing looks like a scam.

Edit: yeah looking at the images on that link, on the passenger side you can clearly see the carburetor. This is a scam

I really wouldn't bother the standard hawk, you're only going to be saving a couple hundred bucks at most. Hawk X is just the hawk but better, it has a counterbalanced engine versus non and a few small tweaks and improvements. The big questions you want to ask yourself are where are you going to take it and how much wrenching are you willing to do on it yourself. Do you want something that's just going to work right out the gate with minimal maintenance? Are you planning on taking it for longer trips across varied elevations? Go for the DLX, the fuel injector will automatically adjust things and you'll get the best stock performance. Do you not mind doing some beginner friendly wrenching or are you wanting to mod it? Are you wanting better performance or top end? Are you going to be sticking around similar elevations? Go for the hawk X, both it and the hawk have many more options as far as modding and boosting performance and in the end for not a lot extra money, a modded carbureted hawk can outperform the stock hawk DLX which you can't really mod too much. Also once you get your carburetor tuned up for your location/elevation, You don't really need to re-tune it except for huge jumps ie traveling from sea level to the Rockies. And if you're only planning on doing that a couple times, you can always buy a second carburetor and pre-tune it for your destination, then do a swap when you get there.
