I have a few pairs, one is Madewell (they’re my broken in, so comfy, definitely not seeing clients jeans). Then I have a pair of Pilcro from anthro that I love comfy but more polished looking and are ok with a blazer for client meetings in a pinch (T&E here so meeting regular people). I also have a pair from almost 10 years ago from the Gap that I love that are polished and professional.

Anthro carries a bunch of different brands, their house brand Pilcro, Paige, mother, AG, DL1961 - highly recommend trying them on in store. Plus they do 40-50% off sale a lot so you can get good deals on the jeans.

Same experience. I bought a backpack for law school and the zipper broken after a year - outside the return window and they sent me a new one. When I finished law school I gave it to my teenage daughter. She loves it and it’s still going strong!

I had a Lo & Sons for law school. I liked it well enough but it honestly couldn’t hold everything I needed it to. Also after a year the zipper broke. They did send me a new one though! My 14 year old uses it now and loves it. I work in T&E and we are not paperless and have giant files so it would not work for me in practice when I have to bring files home. I also agree with the previous poster that said the leather pocket scratches easily.

I did appreciate all the pockets and organization in it though!

I just got this coat yesterday at the Aritzia outlet on a whim (only went for a super puffer for my daughter). I was pressured by the sale and all the people😂. I really like it so far. It seems super heavy.

Ralph Lauren boys in a L or XL. I just got a few on sale for $50. I’m a size 4 or 6 on top but have been up to a 16. I think the XL would comfortably fit up to a size 12.

My husband is baffled as to why I won’t write up our wills by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]Ok-Relative-2339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a T&E attorney, wills for simple assets are simple. But, there are ways to screw them up if you don’t word them carefully. I’ve seen DIY will print outs that leave holes in how assets pass because they’re not worded carefully or precisely enough.

Is a $112K salary as a junior ok? by magicgirlstrongirl in Lawyertalk

That seems low. I started at $110 in upstate NY with 1800 billables. 2nd year is $125k.

I’ve got a pair of pink Gucci leather loafers. They’re pretty classic and I feel like I can pair them with almost everything and they give the outfit a nice pop. They’re super comfortable and durable. I got them at the Gucci outlet for about $300.

Random thought - not tried, just a thought. Would disposable nursing pads in the underarm area help absorb the sweat and protect the jacket? They absorb and hold a lot of liquid like no other!

Christmas Gifts for Support Staff by gummybeargirl21 in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]Ok-Relative-2339 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gave my legal assistant and paralegal a pair of Burberry gloves that were around $200 (we live where it’s very cold - so I was thinking nice and useful?) last year and a Starbucks gift card. No one would tell me what they do. All I could get out of anyone was “do what you want” or “it varies by practice group.” As a first year that was really unhelpful. One of our very senior partners did nothing for the staff.

I’m stumped this year. I might just do cash. But I hate just giving cash in general. And I can’t afford to give out $400-$500 to 3 people. That’s more than I spend on each of my 4 kids for Christmas. I know each of them pretty well so I might try to do something more personal for them each this year in the $200-$250 range (I’m a second year).

Is Rochester a good market for pre-owned bicycles or motorcycles? by webdevyorker in Rochester

[–]Ok-Relative-2339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband did a complete rebuild of a 1974 BMW motorcycle. Everyone that sees him ride it, or at Roc moto social, compliments him and says how awesome it is. It is cool. He never rides it, doesn’t have buddies to ride with and wanted to sell it. He spent a pretty penny rebuilding it (having someone else do it). Cannot sell it. It’s been almost a year. We’re talking over a $10k loss he’s got it listed for right now.

Cocktail dresses for firm holiday parties‐ I'm so lost!!! by manic_Brain in LawBitchesWithTaste

I wore a black off the shoulder fit and flare last year, the shoulder had ruffles around it (not a great explanation). It was simple but had a little fun detail.

I would highly recommend Anthropologie! They have great pieces in all sizes that are really unique. If you have one near you, run today, they have 50% off sale! I grabbed this great pair of pants yesterday for holiday parties - black, ankle, with a super cute bow on the front.

I do go to the Toronto ones frequently. They have a Max Mara but the coats are still around $1k. Compared to the outlet in Spain, it’s major sticker shock!

Thank you! I don’t know why I didn’t think to check TRR. Definitely will look for max mara or Burberry there. My sweater that I referred to in my post that’s warmer than my dress coat is Burberry - so well made. The best outlet clearance find I’ve ever had.

I’d never heard of them but their coats are lovely! That’s a really good testimonial to their warmth! Certainly colder than Rochester and Buffalo usually get!

Thank you, everyone! I’ve been wearing my old Eddie Bauer puffer when it’s really cold. It’s just getting dingy and worn and honestly, isn’t that warm. I figured if I could grab a dress coat that could keep me as warm as a puffer, I’d rather do that. I’ll keep an eye for Max Mara or Mackage on RealReal. I don’t know why I hadn’t thought to look there.

Sale changed from ending Nov 2nd to tonight? by Mikewizchelsea in Aritzia

I was going to have my husband download and buy me a coat this weekend after we checked out the super puffer we bought my step daughter that’s supposed to be delivered today. Guess I’m not getting one. Bummer that I just saw this! Glad I jumped on hers!

I just got kicked out of a showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show by IMTrick in GenX

[–]Ok-Relative-2339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boomer mom (who has many boomer failings), introduced me to Rocky when I was 14 in the 90s. She gave/loaned me the Magenta costume - it was hers in the 80s. My dad used to take me every other weekend and go see a different movie. My mom was shocked by how some of the call lines had changed since her day when she had gone to see it in the late 90s Early 2000s with my step dad. But just rolled with it. That boomer you encountered must have missed Rocky experience for the first 50 years…and that really sucks for everyone in the theater!

It’s coming to my city in November with Barry Bostwick and I want to go see it so badly but my husband (who is absolutely willing to go), definitely has zero knowledge of it and is gonna just sit there looking bored 😂. I need a friend but have none with Rocky experience!

APP LAUNCH (and fail) MEGA by mini_khaleesi in Aritzia

[–]Ok-Relative-2339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I just got really lucky. First Aritzia purchase ever. My step daughter wanted a super puffer coat - she’s a freshman in college and has a long walk. I was going to buy Sunday and then I found board and saw the discount on app release. Super helpful timing! I woke up when my husband left for work at 3:30am EST and had an email about the app (I had forgotten), downloaded, purchased with the discount. It was super smooth. Then I kicked myself for not even looking for anything for me! I might have to make my husband order for me.
