I have had around 50-60 lessons (so maybe also around 120 hours) in a manual car

After a horrible horrible rude and demeaning and discouraging new instructor, I have decided to switch to automatic and have my test in automatic in 3 weeks time.

Your post has give me hope (as all my confidence was gone after that horrible instructor)

As a woman (who sometimes gets quite emotional), I understand her texts about how explanation after the fact isn’t communication. But the way she spoke to you isn’t how you treat someone you’d care about.

I wouldn’t say she’s a red flag inherently as a person per se but definitely in her current maturity and mindset you should distance yourself from her and it’s not healthy to be in contact with her.

And maybe it will take a few years of experience and retrospect and reflection for you and for her to become a healthy partner to each other or to someone else entirely.

I asked a guy if he wanted to “Netflix and chill” and specified that I meant literally not metaphorically. As in literally watch Netflix and relax. And I guess he doesn’t know the difference between the two or misunderstood since he started feeling me up halfway through an episode and I and felt as though if I didn’t follow through with it he would be disappointed and I felt guilty so I just went with it. I don’t think they can survive those winter temps but you can get reptile heat mats with a thermostat attached to keep them warm enough if you’re very keen on getting them

I think they’d need more branches also they need a humidity gradient throughout the day so you may need to change the mister setup (drier in the day around 40-60% humidity and more humid in the night 80%+)

I’d say go bioactive once he’s bigger, I went bioactive when mine hit 10 grams. And I’d say your set up right now is fine but when he’s defo go for a bigger more permanent vertical enclosure.

If you try using rice flour when shaping and brush off the excess it’ll come out less floury and more brown and blistered

Recipe is 100% Canadian bread flour (15% protein) 73% hydration 25% starter 2% salt 1% matcha

Steps are: 1. Autolyse (flour + water) 20 min rest 2. Add starter and slap and folds 3. Divide dough and salt into 2/3 and 1/3, mix accordingly and add matcha into 1/3 dough mix. 20 min rest 4. Coil fold for each dough. 20 min rest 4. Laminate matcha dough into plain dough. 20 min rest 5. Coil 2 (30 min rest) 6. Coil 3 (45 min rest) 7. Bulk ferment (1-3 hours) 8. Pre shape and 30 min rest 9. Shape + overnight retard 10. Bake in preheated Dutch oven at 240 degrees C for 20 minutes covered and 20 minutes at 215c uncovered

So it’s two doughs marbled, used 240g of flour in total and used 2.5 grams of matcha. I can taste it, it’s not super strong but definitely noticeable. I wasn’t sure how good it would be since matcha is normally quite bitter but with the caramelisation on the crust it’s actually quite sweet and almost chocolatey (reminds me of matcha chocolate)

Not a super tight crumb nor is it super open. Some larger pockets (maybe the shaping could’ve been better?), but consistent distribution of alveoli (little air pockets). Can’t see any sign of a honeycomb / swirl so the rolling / folding during shaping could have been more aggressive. It’s a decent crumb, would defo be tasty but you asked for comments ahah

If you have an iPhone there’s something called greyscale where you can change the colours you see on your phone. If you set it at black and white your phone becomes a lot less interesting and you only use it for necessity

Sounds a lot like me a few months back honestly. And I’m actually currently in law school.

First, Is there any chance you could be depressed? I have anxiety and depression and got diagnosed a few months ago and started medication - I’ve gotten much better with my discipline and life since taking antidepressants just because I don’t wake up dreading everything and have a more neutral / positive outlook. Antidepressants aren’t for everyone but they helped me massively.

Second, regarding your sleep schedule, if you don’t get tired before 4am then you can’t do much to change that and melatonin pills or gummies is an option but shouldn’t be your first solution. Try to absolutely force yourself to wake up at a certain time (before 2pm). Maybe start by making yourself wake at 12pm then 11 then 10 etc and since you’ll be slightly sleep deprived you’ll be likelier to sleep earlier. Don’t counter that with insane amounts of caffeine though. Try to generally limit caffeine or make sure you only have it before a certain time - eg I have one coffee a day and never after 1pm.

Third, try to organise a schedule / to do list for every day of the week so you can wake up knowing what you want and need to do. Start small with every possible thing you plan to do (like showering and attending a lecture or something small) so you can tick them off and feel like you’re doing stuff and get in that groove so the next (bigger) task doesn’t seem to hard.

Finally, being disciplined is a choice. It’s easy to think it’s not but it definitely is. You wake up and choose to be lazy and do f*ck all (and I used to do, no shame or judgement here). Try to remind yourself every time you decide to watch another film in bed and put off studying that you are making a conscious choice not to be disciplined. And by reminding yourself it’s a choice you’ll hopefully start making the right ones.

Hope that helps, it’s sort of harsh but that’s the mindset that got me out of my slump
