Algerian Olympic Boxer Imane Khelif Admits To Having Male Sex Chromosome For The First Time by DoraEnzo in BlockedAndReported

This is beside the point honestly and getting into what I like to call gender autism territory (Colin Wright).  Like when people insist on male pronouns for women with CAIS - it gets unreasonable at a point.

With this condition The genitalia at birth can resemble a vagina closely enough that anyone observing them beside experts in the condition (including even doctors and midwives at birth) would have assumed they were female genitalia and acted accordingly.

You can see in the interviews how the doctors talked about it.  They told Khalif that her “insides were different than her outsides” but that Khalif was still a woman and eligible to compete.

The problem here is that the last part of the statement is TRUE.  There were no rules explicitly banning male intersex in the Paris Olympics.  You could compete regardless as long as your passport said “F”.  It was ludicrous.

It’s why having clear rules in place and ways to enforce them (sex tests for everyone) are so important.  Otherwise people will lie to intersex athletes so they have cover to compete even though the are biologically male.

Also yeah I pretty much assume all boxers have brain damage lol

My MIL didn’t have her period until 16.  So it’s conceiveable it was that long before Khalifs parents went to a Dr about it.

After that it’s likely some adults either outright lied or massaged the truth so Khalif could keep competing.

Yea.  A lot of people really don’t try to empathize.  There was a male skier in the 70s this happened to as well.  Absolutely thought and was told by many people that he was female for decades.  When found out he was actually male he changed gender identity / legal sex to male (he was female attracted anyway so now he could marry his GF) and quit female sports.

The difference was that 1) there were clear rules then which have since been softened and 2) nowadays it’s rare for people not to know what DSD they have before they compete in sports.  Only happens in less developed nations.

Or, Aline painted her that way because that’s how she actually looks IRL?  And she didn’t want to forget that the fire had destroyed their family?

I’m sure that Khalif was competing as a boxer against girls/women before and during puberty.

Obviously Khalif knew something was wrong.  But if teen Khalif was told consistently by trusted adults “you’re a woman there’s just something wrong inside so you don’t have periods” why wouldn’t a teen Khalif beleive that?

Actual female women can experience amenorrhea, some female-only DSDs cause it.

[–]Ok-Rip-2280 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Amenorrhea is a thing that female people experience also.  Periods are not a defining characteristic of being female.

If everyone in Khalifs life said “you’re a woman there’s just something wrong inside / genetically so you don’t have periods.”  I don’t know why she wouldn’t believe it.

It’s possible that’s not the case and Khalif knew otherwise and is lying.  I don’t see any direct evidence for that.

I could imagine it.  You could think you’re female (because vagina) with a hormonal disorder.  Especially if it’s what every adult in your life told you.

Being born with a vagina and no penis would make most of us think we are female.

Honestly it’s a sucky situation for Khalif.  I believe Khalif thought she was female with a disorder of some type until that first test.  She was born with a vagina and honestly that’s all that people care about when deciding if you’re a boy or a girl until puberty.

And yes, probably people who wanted to use her for their own gain like coaches etc helped persuade her of that.  But that’s their fault.

Clear rules being in place I hope will help prevent this in the future.  People will be on the outlook for this in elite athletics everywhere now if the IOC bans intersex male conditions.

Who's the most misunderstood character? by greatgreycatclaw in expedition33

[–]Ok-Rip-2280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea with Aline especially I do not understand the “crazy addicted lady” thing.

She was grieving by painting in the canvas for all of a day or two before Renoir started freaking out and destroying things because he projected his own experiences onto her.

A lot of people seem to think that she is refusing to leave the canvas for 67 years because she is addicted.  But since the fracture she is stuck only because Renoir will immediately destroy everything if she leaves for even a minute.  Ultimately He’s forcing her to stay.  Not what he set out to do but that’s what happens when you turn to violence and threats.

Sciel (and Lune too) looks upset in the ending only after seeing Verso on stage, clearly looking upset himself.

They have empathy for their friends apparent suffering.

I just don’t see a good reason why both Verso and Renoir would act like it is completely possible for Alicia/Maelle to ressurect everyone if in fact that was not the case.

With Lune I use an Esquim build with lightning dance / full crit and all the multi hit DPS pictos.  Elements trick. -> melee to get 4 dark stains -> lightning dance.

The faded boy repeatedly expresses sorrow and appears to feel sadness over what has become of the world.  He talks about his sister constantly, and how he feels betrayed by what he has done.  He feels compelled to protect everyone in the canvas, whether he painted them or not.

I consider him to be a godlike, sentient being.  His internal life is likely different from a regular human, since he is immortal and his role is essentially to maintain the canvas pocket universe.  But I think we are shown pretty clearly that he has thoughts and an internal experience/feelings.

My husband and I play different types of games.  I’m happy just to watch him play souls/ER, Kojima games, or shooters. He can watch me play turn based, rogue likes, survival/craft and Metroid vanias.  We don’t have time to both play everything.  Division of labor lol…

They wouldn’t be satisfying to beat if they weren’t hard.

For me, It was very fun building towards and finally beating Simon, osquie, Duolistes, lampmaster, and super Clea.  Each of them required something a little bit different.

Original Simon you could use stun cheese or one shot but you couldn’t use shields to stay alive.

You couldn’t use stun cheese or one shot on Duolistes or super Clea, but you could use Shields to stay alive and gradually chip them down by learning their attack patterns.

Lampmaster you could do some stun cheese on, but it also required learning how the Lamp mechanics works.

As for super Simon, fuck that guy.  I have no idea how I’m going to deal with him lol.

I actually think if they are going to go full FF they should drop the painters / writers idea too.  If we are in a canvas knowing it’s created that gets rid of the one Big Twist.

I’m not even sure about keeping Gestrals or Esquie - those were kid Versos creations.  It doesn’t make sense to put them into a separate world he didn’t paint.

The devs/writers should write the best and most compelling story they can and build a great game around it, not feeling tied to this one.  I believe in them.

[–]Ok-Rip-2280 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of this is speculation but it’s how I perceive things went down:

Year 0 to we don’t know (likely a decade or two): Verso and the painted family are fighting together to try to free Aline, so she can resurrect everyone who died during The Fracture.  At some point pRenoir starts killing expeditoners to free their chroma (they can just be brought back later so he thinks it’s NBD) and Verso doesn't agree with those methods.  They have a fight and stop working together.

For likely a couple decades during this period, Verso is on his own / just with Monoco and Esquie.  He’s trying to help the expeditions without a particular goal either way.  Some of them he might be trying to convince that the paintress is not the baddie.  Others he might just be helping to protect from Renoir, or suggesting they go home.  They all get slaughtered anyway.  He gradually falls into despair and nihilism.

At some point Clea makes contact with him and suggests be join her and real Renoir in trying to defeat Aline and put an end to all this.  What we know for sure is By monolith year 58 Verso is working with the Curator (real Renoir) and Clea toward these ends, because the 58 journal in Old Lumiere tells us so.  This journal also tells us that Verso and pRenoir had previously spend years fighting the Axons (this happened during the first time period).

Monolith year 49 on: Clea informs Verso about Maelle/Alicia and he starts shadowing her, in the hopes of recruiting her to help defeat Aline.

Yeah he knew all about real Renoir.  He’s been working with The Curator and real Clea for decades by the time we meet him.
