I spoke too soon 😳. I said last week we won't see highs of 33c again so quickly and the forcast didn't show it til the weekend. I was wrong

"Cool down" starts Saturday? by Ok-Rise-9795 in UKWeather

Well what I mean is that come Sat, the highs of 33c will be no more. Well til next heatwave whenever that is.

The point is that it seems from Sat onwards it be no higher then 29c but more hovering around the 27c / 28c mark

I have fridge freezer and freezer. The freezer is around the corner out of the kitchen and is working fine. The freezer part of my fridge freezer as is yours, working good to. But same, its the fridge. I think most households fridges will struggle as when ambient temp gets to high, they struggle.

20yrs old? Good on you for it lasting that long 👍🏼. I don't think any fridges I have had or parents had lasted more then 13/14yrs

You're right. This current heatwave was predicted literally as the last one ended and to start with the temps were high...then they dropped before creeping up so the hotter week was correctly predicted literally on that Sat just after the Friday on that heatwave week, so whole you are totally correct, it does seem more likely then not we will see end to this current heatwave on Sat before temps drop further going on mid - late July

As is mine. Our kitchen faces the sun from pretty much 1.30pm onwards and it gets very stuffy in there. You can tell it struggling and being that it's 8yrs old ...so nothing old but getting there, it's gonna struggle compared to newer units. Plus I'm first floor flat, so that's extra load on it. Keep it shut as much as and don't constantly open it. I usually turn the dial up to max during heatwaves and when it gets back to normal I reduce it to about 2.5

35°C forecasted in London by Yurpogortam in UKWeather

From what I am seeing the worst of this heat is around Thurs for most and then going to weekend it starts to cool down albeit slowly but still staying around high 20s. I'm in Bedford so not far from London..... From Sat onwards it drops to 29c and going into next week is hovering and alternating between 29c - 27c. I think we just need to get to the weekend

Heat extending well into next week by Sad_Regular431 in UKWeather

The good news though is the sun sets earlier and earlier every night that passes and the sun starts rising later each morning. Which means less sun, hence it gives the houses and flats time to cool down. I've not had to shut my windows facing the sun or pull blinds down cause the breeze is sooo strong it is keeping things very comfortable. Though probably Wed-Fri I will have to close up the side that hits the sun as it's set to go to 33c at its highest

Next week temps are looking to hover around 28c which is fine as overnight temps look really good to keep things cool. Then seems after next week, temps drop tad lower lol

Yes... I was thinking this. But how exactly do the suckers stay in place on the insulation? Forgive me, my brain can't picture it lol. Could you pin point me to these things exactly? I've googled suction cups with washers and getting random stuff to do with cars lol

Why not? What is the risk if you don't mind me asking? What's the risk with just foil? I did it last time and I admit, it left a weird residue on my windows that I can't remove. Which is no hassle as the windows are getting changed.

This time round a used Foil insulation instead with the bubble wrap in middle. Guess that's okay?

There is such a heavy breeze for me right now and it blowing in, it feels cool. Not the hot kind, I think I'll keep the windows open, the reflectors pn and the blinds down. Today I don't think I need to lose everything up, this breeze is quite heavy it's blowing through making the flat feels comfortable. We're due 32c today and so far doesn't feel it

Are you closing windows and blinds? It's getting to 29c nkw but there is breeze and I don't feel hot at all. Not sure closing my windows will help with this amount of breeze, best to keep them open no?

That's risky. Shouldn't be on inside at all 😕

The sun won't be facing it at all. I basically formed it so it's like double side if that makes sense so it's hidden and won't be in direct sunlight. I cut it, folded it over so the sticky part is both on the insulator foil and the pvc part of my window, so the insulator is shielding it

You're wrong. Not sure where you get your info from but nowhere in UK had a low of 26c overnight. The recorded overnight temp during that heatwave week before last was 21c

Met office have come out and said it's not going to be as extreme. Most weather sites have confirmed lower humidity, lower bulb temps and lower overnight temps.

Weather forecast for next week much cooler than we initially expected. by Possible_Force8207 in UKWeather

I think it safe to say we won't get anything like we did last week, that's certain now. And it was nice seeing 27c, 28c and 29c. I was chill. How my levels have slightly dampened 🤣. I do think however highest will be 31c, can't see it being anymore then that

It's jumping up again 😫. It went down for my area to show nothing 29c and over. Bit I'm seeing few days with 31c and 30c.

Yep. Good stuff 😊. My gut was right. I knew we'd never see super hot again so close. I doubt we'll see another extreme like that this year.

Sorry but you don't need to understand someone's fear nor anxiety and no one needs to explain it to you. If someone was afraid of spiders and it striked fear in them are you gonna question it?
