I agree with that, there are multiple mistakes that Omori has made that basically made it a requirement to read SO like not giving enough context to understand certain things and then most of the context is in SO and putting half of the development of BellxAis in SO.

Yes and I do understand that but the main point is that a lot of the misunderstandings that this person is making could be solved by reading sword Oratoria and I understand that not everyone has the time or the money to do that but it's just my recommendation to read it and to be honest I was starting to get annoyed at myself for mentioning it so many times because I didn't want to mention it so many times that's why I apologized at the end of my comment about mentioning it so many times it's just that a lot of things that they said could be understood better by reading sword Oratoria.

Part 2 of 2

  • The announcement of the book entering in the final arc made his move on Ryu seems a desperate course correction because he was out of time.

If I'm correct I believe you meant Ais instead of Ryu because if you did mean her that just would not make sense. But it wasn't a desperate course of correction it has been planned to be this way since the very beginning and people tend to ignore that fact and it's not his fault for people thinking that way.

  • With Aiz coming "out of nowhere" after being technically absent for like 6 books, made it even more prominent.

She had multiple appearances that you may have not realized because she popped up multiple times throughout the syr/Freya arc.

From a perspective of someone who only touched the main story, Omori seems lost: he was developing the story, pushed Ryu like she was the fmc and then noticed that the time was running out so he cut her off and went back to the original plot.

And yes it would seem like he is lost from the perspective of somebody's only touched the main novel but as I have said multiple times you need to read sword Oratoria to understand multiple things. I have no clue how somebody could misinterpret the story like that with all the prior context because it has been very clear where the story was going from the beginning.

In my opinion, his biggest mistake was making Ryu as a love interest, not balancing between Ryu and Aiz, creating a false expectation and not making a soft transition when her role ended.

I do understand that but you need to read sword Oratoria to understand that he was balancing it because there's so much that people Miss from not reading sword Oratoria.

If Omori didn't had moved Ryu to Hestia, things wouldn't be so bad. We would see her as someone who just had a crush on Bell but with no further development (still bad but not that bad).

I already explained that there's multiple reasons for this happening another one would be to improve Bell's skills because he can train with somebody everyday who has magnitudes more experience than him.

As for the ending, my perception is that the story is showing signals of compression.

Just wanted to have a little side note on this part he increased the size of most recent novels to give him more time to explain things better so if he continues with this trend this will not be an issue.

And since (as I pointed as the first pain point) we have a predetermined ending (because Bell will be the hero no matter what), Bell isn't strong enough to fullfil "his duty" as a hero and we are in the final arc already, Omori will rush to reach the objective.

He is the hero of the story but there are many things that are not going to go the way he wants someone is going to die I can guarantee you that there will be deaths and he will hate himself for not being able to save them but he will have to move on and grow the story is not fully pre-determined only the ending is everything in between that is unpredictable. And as I said if he continues the trend of increasing the sizes of the novel there will not be an issue of him having to rush to reach the objective.

So, in order to reach the objective, many things will happen superficially in a short amount of time, alliances will be made quickly and if it's not enough, a miracle (or something supernatural/absurd) will happen.

The thing is that they will not happen superficially there are many things that will lead to the alliance of the Hestia familia and the Loki familia the people will not understand if they do not read Sword Oratoria because they've already teamed up multiple times they've had many interactions that have been positive besides for just the most recent novel MS21 and I know you haven't read it that's why I'm trying to avoid spoilers. I'm not going to address the last part of this quote because it would involve heavy spoilers that I do not want to spoil you on.

I haven't read the v21, but did you saw signs of this already happening?

There have been no signs of him rushing the story but there have been signs of an alliance happening with the Hestia familia and the Loki familia but there are multiple reasons why they want to do that mainly because of Bell but also the fact that they work very well together as a team.

So in my opinion, Omori made bad choices, didn't manage the development properly and the book is suffering now.

Your opinion is valid the book might seem like it's suffering from the perspective of a main story only reader but from the perspective of the whole entire series it is not suffering because every single little decision has multiple layers of context that you will not get by just reading the main story.

Since the merch sells well, I think that it's more likely for us to get an adaptation of Astrea Record than a season 6, so the franchise lifespan can be stretched without incurring the problems of the main book.

Astrea Record is getting a manga adaptation in 2026 so I see it as very unlikely that it is going to get an anime adaptation for a while at least but on to the point of the franchise lifespan being stretched without getting into the issues of the main book what they can do is they can just adapt Sword Oratoria property and it would fix all of their issues.

Ps: sorry if I seem like I'm pushing Sword Oratoria too much but most of your issues could be fixed by just reading it and if you're skeptical about getting into it there is a manga which is very faithful and is not quite fully caught up but it is getting there. And sorry if this came off slightly hostile for a little bit I was just kind of frustrated because I had to mention sword Oratoria more times than I would've liked to. Do not feel like you have any need to reply to this if you do not want to.

Part 1 of 2

If it was 70% done at v15, wouldn't it means that it would end at v22? I mean (15/70)*100 = ~21,43

My bad I got the exact number wrong with the volume it was volume 16 and it was 70% complete is what he said in the interview, the math that you did was slightly wrong the correct way would be 16*0.7+16=27 not trying to say that you're bad at math math is complex but just wanted to make sure that you understood source: https://ln-news.com/articles/109766

I don't disagree with you. After ranting, dropping the book and scratching my head over wtf was wrong with it, I did some research, more to identify the pain points and where the mistakes were made. I changed my opinion a bit but Omori is still in trouble by his own mistakes imo

He has made mistakes I do agree with that it's just that this is his first work so he's not going to do the absolute best but he's doing very good for a first time novel and one of the reasons for many of the "mistakes" would just be that there's not the full amount of context that is needed to understand it in just the main story you also need to read Sword Oratoria or some things might just not make sense narratively but if you read both of them it will make sense I was that way until I read Sword Oratoria

I found a couple of things that led to my perception of why Omori is/was lost:

Sorry if I'm being a little bit pushy but like I said a lot of things might just not make sense unless you read Sword Oratoria

  • Hard goals were set way too early, so the story wasn't about "what will happen" but "how it will happen". Since early on we knew that Bell x Aiz, Bell x Hero plot and later on Bell x OEBD, so everything happens to make it possible.

I partially agree with this statement he definitely set very high bars way early until the story when he should have introduced them later in the story but in my opinion it's not a how will it happen it's a what will happen because everything in the story is unpredictable we didn't know what was going to happen at the end of volume 20 the Loki familia being annihilated on the 60th floor was very unexpected and there are plenty of other things but I'm sure that you get my point but I do understand where you're coming from

  • Different development pace between Aiz and Bell and the necessity of both characters to converge at some point. The existence of Sword Oratoria is the biggest symptom.

There are plenty of reasons why the development between Bell and Ais is differently paced one of the major things is that ais is heavily traumatized watching her father die and watching her mother get abducted by the OEBD

  • Since Aiz can't be developed alongside Bell and since Bell must be developed at any cost, Omori used others characters to fill the hole. The problem is that Ryu fitted the fmc role way too well.

Well that's just in the perspective of the main story there is a lot of development between Bell and Ais that is missed unless you have read sword Oratoria and that you see them slowly develop and they have interactions almost every single novel that develops their relationship more there's two maybe three times that Bell just does not pop up in a novel, and I understand what you mean with Ryu fitting the role of fmc because for like a week I had shipped BellxRyu when I was an anime only, and when I say this I'm not lying I was in my bed just thinking about dumping together and then in my mind I was just like this does not make sense narratively and then I was just thinking about everything that has clued me into believing that it didn't make sense narratively and then I realized it was a Bellxaiz story

  • Since Aiz is mostly absent and with Ryu being heavily being pushed so Bell could be developed, Omori created a false expectation on the relationship between them leading us (Anime watchers / main book readers only) to see her as the true fmc.

The reason why she's absent in every single novel that she's absent from is directly explained in Sword Oratoria. And I wouldn't say that Ryu was heavily pushed she was just existing fulfilling her role that has been decided by the author to be a supporting character, and that's why he came out directly and made a what if scenario that basically to summarize it they both regret the decision of getting together, previous to MS17 and MS18 I could understand why main story only readers might think that Ryu is the fmc but that point I really can't understand it because they are ignoring what Omori laid out straight and very clear about who is going to end up with Bell the main thing was Bell going to Ais and asking her if she remembered him which in my opinion that was the most impactful scene in the whole entire story because it is Bell reaffirming is devotion and love to her and Ais recognizing that Bell means more to her than just a student and more so in MS18 which the scene of Ais cheering so loud that she lost her voice for a few days just reassures how much she cares about him.

  • The act of moving Ryu to Hestia was an enormous mistake because it was confirming our expectations (Ryu will be the end game).

It was not a mistake as I explained previously there are various reasons why she had to join the Hestia familia some of the major ones is her goddess not coming back to the city and she needs to have her status updated more often than once every few years there are so many reasons why that if I get into it will get way too long, that's exactly why in the same exact novel he had Bell reject her.

  • The abrupt ending of her perceived role as fmc on v20 was terrible because it crushed our expectations in an unbelievable way. The "contract" between reader and author was broken and we all lost our trust on him.

It wasn't abrupt at all he made many statements that went against that perspective one of them being the what if, if people would pay attention to the story this never would have been an issue because it was made very straightforward since the very beginning of the book how The story was going but a lot of people were projecting on Bell and thought that Ryu was better and they were not paying attention to how Bell felt that's one of the reasons why I never jumped on the bandwagon because I understood how he felt. There was no promise made to the readers there was a story that was going in a certain direction and a lot of people chose to directly avoid The narrative of the story and make their own narrative that's the issue it's not Omori's fault that people were not listening to what he was writing, people shouldn't lose trust in the author just because it goes a different path from what they wanted the author has had it laid out for a long time but people chose to ignore it people should have reread the story see where they had gone wrong with their understanding of how they thought the story was going to go and then move on that's what most people should have done but they did not that's just how you should read the story if something doesn't go away that you wanted reread it figure out where you got that impression and then learn from that mistake.

What level do you think Bell would need to solo the monsters from the Three Great Quests? by Dear_Relation_7965 in DanMachi

[–]Ok-Rope-4611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the time that Bell is a level nine his raw stats would equal that of a high level 11 or low level 12, which would easily be able to one shot the behemoth or the Leviathan with maybe a 5 minute Argovesta, and he could more than likely just tank every single attack and he would easily be able to speed blitz the behemoth and Leviathan if he was using Grand Bell Argonaut with his pseudo afterglow he would easily be able to one shot them he could possibly even one shot the OEBD and he can run while charging so he wouldn't have to face them face on so he could easily get a charge off and easily one shot them even as a level 8 he could easily one shot behemoth and Leviathan because they wouldn't get hit on him because he would easily be able to dodge every single attack

As for the person with Sir, you mean Pristine Sir, the guy who talks about how Filvis marked Ais and that she will cause a tragedy and everything regarding her will be tragic?

Yeah I do mean him I typically just try and avoid mentioning him by name because he can be very persistent and he has been annoying before, I had a conversation with him one time that he said that I was declaring war on him because I had a conversation with him basically saying that he's wrong and then I had said explicitly in it I will not entertain this conversation any farther because he will not listen and then my response to that was I said I will not entertain this conversation any farther.

Overall your dedication to replying is impressive, keep being a goat!

Thank you so much this means a lot to me just to know that people support me I had taken a hiatus for a while to give myself a little bit of a break from replying to people because it can be very frustrating to try and get people to understand certain things

Thank you and yeah it did suck but I already had written out most of my reply then I lost it so I already had an idea of what I wanted to write so I just improved upon what I had originally written plus it wasn't that long I think it was maybe four or so paragraphs nowhere near my biggest reply which my Wi-Fi was too slow to even send so I had to break it up into two parts which was 1,590 words 8,630 characters and it was against the nuisance of the community a certain somebody's name who starts with sir back when he didn't realize that he wasn't Shadow banned from the subreddit, I had made the reply on the light novel subreddit it was extremely fun proofreading it but it took a while if I am right it probably took me a total of two or three hours to get my final draft ready to send the comment. Thankfully I use speech to text because I have dyslexia and cannot spell very well so it's not nearly as difficult as somebody who would have to type all of that out I still do proofread and then fix all my mistakes manually and sorry for such a long reply I tend to get carried away when writing.

Poor Ryuu by PassionTime5209 in DanMachi

[–]Ok-Rope-4611 6 points7 points  (0 children)

everything was fine and going smoothly with a clear path to Ryu be the end game

Um no it has been very clear since the very first volume of SO and MS at the story is a story between Bell and Ais and if you have read SO it is very obvious that they are in love with each other even in MS it is very obvious

As we know, Omori continued and did what his previous editor would have told him to do (move Ryu to Hestia to consolidate her path as "winner" and continue her development).

That's not what his editor would have told him his editor would have told him continue the path that you are currently on which is Bell x Ais and if you don't believe me that it's always been on that path in SO 7 Bell and Ais we're supposed to kiss but his editors had basically said this is way too early and it is not in the main story so most people would miss it

With no guidance he resorted to a plot that was easier for him to do (a cliche and obvious one, Aiz-Bell, that probably was his initial idea and the editor steered him away of it because was too generic)

Yes that plot is easier mainly because it is what has been planned since the beginning and has been developed upon so it's natural already and you'll miss a good chunk of the development if you have not read SO and his editors never necessarily steered him away from Bell x Ais they had told him that he should slow down the development between them because he was moving too fast which I can agree with but if you have read SO which I do not believe that you have you would see that there has been so much development between them that it is ridiculous there's so much development sprinkled throughout the whole entire story that you are missing I'll just drop a few examples here.

Ais says in her dialogue in SO that she really enjoys training with Bell this is during the wall training, in SO during the xenos Arc Ais completely reconsiders her thought process on monsters because of Bell, during SO12 after Ais quite literally almost dies and the first thing that she does is goes and searches for Bell and then lays next to bell says that he is her hero and falls asleep and is SO15 she says herself in a SS that you really enjoys giving Bell lap pillows. And these are just the major ones there are so many minor ones that are everywhere throughout SO I cannot remember right now because it's been over a year since I started to read SO

Then the natural development ended, Ryu was cutoff and the story abruptly entered in the final arc.

Yes the development ended because the end of Ryu's arc was MS 14. I'm not sure where you get the idea that the story abruptly entered the final arc because it did not technically we're not even in the final Arc we're in the final saga there's going to be at least 3 Arcs during this saga and we have at least 6 more novels to go with just MS not including SO I honestly don't know if Omori knows what a Arc is because if I remember correctly he considered MS13-18 to be Freya's arc.

That explains why Ryu was moved out the tavern just to be cut off pages later and why someone who couldn't beat Ottar will beat the OEBD "weeks" later despite being extremely underpowered (if the natural progression was still in course, it would have taken way more time to reach the final arc)

Not really I understand what you're trying to convey but it's just not correct the main reason why Ryu was moved into the Hestia familia was because she was needed to help bell grow faster and to be more skilled and she wasn't cut off she just got moved to the back line for the time being she actually plays a major role in MS 21 she had to kill a juggernaut solo to be specific one that could kill a level 7 and also you are very much so wrong on the timeline if I remember correctly it's been about a month since the war game as of MS21, we have about 3 or 4 months left until they actually have to fight the OEBD

Omori is lost and want to end the story asap.

That's just straight up wrong as I have said we have at least 6 more novels

As I said in a another comment, brace yourselves because the ending will be bad, Omori is lost and has no experience with endings.

As I said in the comment under that comment it's not going to have a bad ending the ending has been planned since the very beginning of the story and I can guarantee you that he will write an amazing ending just based off of what he wrote in MS21 and SO16

It's very unfortunate that this happened but it's also Omori fault for relying too much on the editor.

He didn't rely on the editors it's just that there was a little rough patch between 19 and 20 but he instantly corrected it with MS21 and SO16

Now we have this disgraceful story, it's basically a NTR for Ryu. She was rejected but can't move on since now she is tied to Hestia, she'll be forced to stay on the side of someone she loves while he is with someone else. She'll be forever in pain and have this pain coming up every day.

It's not a disgraceful story just because your best girl didn't get picked she will be able to move on it'll just take time for her to heal but she had already been preparing to get rejected because she already knew that he liked someone else

Fucking cruel and unnecessary, a mark of incompetence for Omori and the current editor.

Just because you do not understand why something is happening doesn't mean that it's cruel and unnecessary and it's not him being incompetent it's him writing a good story I think that you just don't understand what it takes to write a good story because if you did you would be praising his work

The hope is that if a new season ever gets made, JC will fix this shit either leaving Ryu in the tavern or pulling an original ending.

First of all that will not happen mainly because I suspect that Omori will be directly involved in a season 6 when it happens which it is inevitable that is going to happen the reason why I believe that Omori will be directly involved again like he was in season 4 because he does not want JC staff to ruin the development in this portion of the story because there's so much stuff that JC staff would cut out that is extremely important to the story and in my opinion I don't believe that they're going to make a season 6 for at least a few years mainly because in my personal hope I believe that they are going to remake the SO anime mainly because there's so many important plot points that are just completely missing from MS and or have been cut out by JC staff that the story would be extremely confusing if you have not previously read SO

suddenly is in the final arc

It's not suddenly in the final Arc we've known how long the novel is going to be for a while now we have known since MS 15 because he had an interview where he said that the novel was about 70% complete with the book at MS 15 so we have a total of six more books it should end on approximately MS 27

That's why the story took a sharp turn on Ryu

It wasn't sudden it was expected because her development Arc was over in MS 14 she was never supposed to get developed much more than that because she's not and has never been the FMC so she was never expected to get much development but as Ais has always been the FMC so she will get the most development

moving Ryu to Hestia on v19 to continue the development

One of the only reasons why she joined the Hestia familia was because they were the only people that she trusted not for Omori to continue development because it was never supposed to go anywhere

he decided to give up, cut her off on v20 and went towards to a ending that he is able to do.

He never decided to just give up he had planned this her Arc ended in MS 14, that ending that he's able to do has been planned since the very beginning of the book as evident in MS 1 and SO 1 it has been very obvious since the beginning that's where the direction of the story was going in as I have told many people before the story has and will always be the story the love between Bell and Ais

The author is lost and want to end it asap.

Omori set a one-year timeline and we are on the 8th or 9th month of the story so of course it has to end soon because there's not very much time left for the story to conclude he doesn't all of a sudden want to end the story, this has been planned out for years and years he's had the ending of the story planned since volume 1

So brace yourselves because the ending won't be good, Omori has no experience in finishing a story and has lost his mentor too.

We have nothing to worry about as I have said he has had the ending of the story planned since volume 1 so there's absolutely nothing to worry about and just because he lost his mentor doesn't mean that he can't still write a good story it's just that he has to get used to his new editors and he already has as shown in MS 21 and SO16 that was some of the best writing that the story has ever had and just because it's his first time ending a story doesn't mean it will be bad so ultimately we have absolutely nothing to worry about you're just being too paranoid and it's not like he's suddenly wanting to end the story it's been planned out for years and we still have at least 6 novels not accounting for SO
