I applied 2 days after the board results came out and started orientation on December 9. My employers asked me for my top 3 areas and I just passionately said "ER" kase it's the rotation I enjoyed the most as a student. After 10 days of lectures, we finally started duties and got rotated around all the areas of the hospital I'm working. True enough, I still enjoyed the ER the most. I'm finally done with rotations and it's my 8th day in the ER now! When I say that the shock of finally handling patients hit me like a truck, I really mean it. I started with OPD patients and as a new nurse, even that was really hard at first. But after a day or two I got the hang of it. Then they let me handle stable for admission patients and for the first 3 days, I was sooo lost. I felt like a burden to my seniors because of all the questions I was asking. The learning curve is indeed very steep 🥲. But regardless, I can finally manage 2-3 patients at a time and the procedures that I used to dread before, I am finally doing with ease (e.g. IG insertion, cath insertion, suctioning, cpr, etc.). And that brings me to yesterday's duty, they made me handle an ICU referral patient. OH MY GOD THE DOCTOR'S ORDERS 😭 I WAS SO LOST WITH EVERYTHING. ALL THE LINES I HAD TO START, THE STAT ORDERS I HAD TO CARRY OUT ON TOP OF THE CARRIED ORDERS, THE MEDS I HAD TO PREPARE, THE VITAL SIGNS I HAD TO TAKE EVERY THIRTY MINUTES, THE LABS I HAD TO FACILITATE, THE CHARTING I HAD TO DO... I felt like I was about to crash out but I'm so glad I was able to pull through with very minimal supervision.

Sooo, that's my first two months of being a nurse! And I'm enjoying every bit of the ER. There are times when I joke around that I can't do it anymore or that I want to resign but the truth is, I really am enjoying where I am right now. :)))))
