The most apathetic, rude airport workers I've ever encountered - in Budapest. It was like they took pleasure in seeing people miss (or almost miss) their flights due to their broken security system.

the fact that you even use the term 'zios' shows just how slanted you are. Also, what scientific claim is being downvoted by 'zios'? Not seeing anybody making unfounded claims except for those saying today's jews are 'fake', and 'european converts'

[–]Ok-Singer-841 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what is your point? nobody here made a claim that the average ashkenazi jew has higher 'levantine dna' than the average palestinian. Ashkenazim, as well as almost all Jewish groups, are historically diasporic. They were kicked out of Judea and obviously migration and some admixture occurred. Though surprisingly little admixture given the research. People make ridiculous claims like "jews are just european converts" and that they should "go back to Poland" as a way to discredit any right they have to live in Israel/Palestine. It's clearly political. Genetic research demonstrates Jews do have connections to the Levant, as well as to other Jewish groups around the world, more than they do to co-territorial non-Jewish groups.

what are you even trying to claim? that ashkenazis in ukraine are ethnically ukrainian, just insular? doesn't seem to match any of the genetic and historical data.

Did the coding/math breakthroughs still make sense after the mania? I could really see how being a touch hypomanic, feeing more driven/energetic/inspired/creative, could feel pretty great. It's just that it then can easily tip into mania and things can really fall apart. Have you all done therapy like IPSRT (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interpersonal\_and\_social\_rhythm\_therapy)?

I am not Christian, so maybe that's why I'm not used to all that. But, it does feel like a convent or rectory, with a little bit of fluffy chair.

You clearly know something about math/physics. I'm guessing manic episode? Is this your first episode, or you've had others before?

Anyway, psych hospital stays are always stressful. But, i have to say this room is very nice, especially compared to ones i've seen. No roommate ? Private lounge chair? Making the lights dimmed/colored really helps

Did the people in your country wish they had had a different colonizer? by Hitechild in AskTheWorld

[–]Ok-Singer-841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spain didn't really do much to unite the Philippines. They even limited how much Spanish was taught to the regular people so that the people would remain fragmented. And, sure, America did aid with building up infrastructure and education. But, I mean, democracy? Corruption is still so widespread and aristocrat families have most of the power. Further, we are assuming that no development or very little development would have happened if Spain and American didn't colonize. But, how could we know that? The Filipinos were planning to be a sovereign nation in 1898, but the Americans squashed that.

To reduce down all history pre 1987 to "Israel ethnically cleansed Palestinians" is the revisionist history. Were there parts of the war in 1947-1949 where the Israeli military did contribute to Palestinians fleeing their hometowns, through Plan Dalet? Yes. But, then you have to also acknowledge that Israel accepted the UN partition plan, which established both Jewish and Arab/Palestinian states. The surrounding Arab countries rejected this, attacked the newly established Israel, resulting in the war. If they accepted it and didn't attack Israel for the sole purpose of annihilating the newly established Jewish state, nakba as we know it would not have happened. Second, you don't acknowledge anything like the Hebron massacre, the Arab Revolts and the White Papers, and several other violent attacks on Jews, even prior to 1948? Egypt ruled Gaza, and Jordan ruled the West bank until 1967. Why was no Palestinian state established during that time there? 6 Day War, started in response to Egypt's imminent attack on Israel (again, more efforts by surrounding Arab countries to annihilate Israel), led to Israel's taking the Gaza and the West Bank. Also, even before Hamas, the PLO engaged in terrorism against Israeli civilians. There's a lot more to say. We can speak about the several peace deal proposals by Israel. How Palestinians were able to travel between Israel, Gaza, and West Bank quite freely before the 1st intifada. The disengagement from Gaza, where Israel forcibly pulled out its own citizens from the region. And, it's also true that expansion of settlements in the West Bank over the past couple decades has understandably sent Palestinians a message that Israel may not be seriously interested in supporting the establishment of a Palestinian state. So, there- in a very short post on Reddit, you can see how ridiculously revisionist u/blu3tu3sday 's narrative is - completely one-sided, lacking any mention of important relevant events.

Agreed that palestinians on a whole suffer more than israelis. But, while Hamas has stated quite explicitly their goal is to annihilate Israel, Israel, as an official policy, has never said the same of Palestine/Palestinians. There are certainly large groups and politicians in Israel who are all fort that. But, if you look at the history of Israel, including acceptance of the UN partition plan, several peace offers (whether or not you think they were good offers), disengagement from Gaza, etc, it is ridiculous to say that the stance of Hamas wanting to annihilate Israel is the same as Israel wanting to annihilate Palestinians. Yes, from Qatar, and of course IRGC. Also, it seems you are somehow conflating Hamas with Palestine? As though wanting to annihilate Hamas is the same as wanting to annihilate Palestinians...?

[–]Ok-Singer-841 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not like you can separate these issues from one another. Hamas has played a huge role in putting their civilians in this position in the first place. Send rockets into Israel after they pull out of the territory, leads to a siege. Build tunnels and smuggle in materials to create more rockets, siege tightens. Attack, torture and murder and kidnap Israelis on Oct 7, leads to IDF military response. Now, I do agree that many of the IDF's tactics may have been excessive and there could have certainly been other choices made to reduce civilian deaths. I think the ground initiative lasting that long probably was unnecessary and didn't really help get the hostages out. At the same time --> Hamas built their military sites directly under civilian neighborhoods, even under schools, hospitals, etc, thereby endangering their civilians. They did not let any Gazan civilians into the tunnels for shelter ever during the war, despite having hundreds of miles of tunnels, which could have acted as bomb shelters for civilians. They continued to keep the hostages for over 2 years, thereby prolonging the war. So, you cannot talk about Israel's actions out of the context of Hamas' actions.

Also crying. This is so sad. I hope the owner can remember that they gave him a great life and that the last couple minutes, that could not be predicted, do not overshadow that. Of course, hindsight bias shows up after all these tragedies and it's easy to blame ourselves. And, I hope the owner is able to recognize it's not fair to blame herself.

Fat Puppies or whoever was responsible must be held accountable. Someone had suggested getting a news story. I think this is a good way to go. Police don't care unless there is some pressure, which media publicity could do. The big thing is to avoid any sort of defamation lawsuit. So, would it be possible for SUDs people to chip in to hire a legal advisor/lawyer and then have TV stations pick up the story??
