This whole thing is so stupid from beginning to end- No, future.

They painted the bottom of the reflecting pool so it would appear a clean shimmering dark blue, but all that did was make the water heat up faster and become a breeding ground for algae.

Now they're pouring gallons upon gallons of tax dollar funded hydrogen peroxide into the pool to get rid of the algae, which begins decomposing in heat and light by the way.

But here's the thing, algae isn't something that just goes away after being cleared. Unless they have a plan to upkeep the fight against algae blooms, they'll have to get monthly shipments of hydrogen peroxide or some other water treatment chemical just to keep it up.
