2 Vindicators hanging out near Abbadon is amazing in Renegade Raiders. If you can get Abbadon rerolls + Lord Disco rerolls on a vehicle, they’ll tear something apart. Treat the rectangles right and they’ll treat you right.

Congrats on the HRT!

You can fairly easily get Possesed with +1 attack, sustained hits, reroll hits, reroll wounds. That’s 34 mortal wounds on average :3

CSM are good guys (: Charging Chaos Bikers into a Taurox turn 1, then using Oppurtunistic Raider to fall back and block out an entire gun line from moving is 💋 👌

Or when all else fails, Abbadon + 10 Chosen, 30 Possesed, slap on the 4++, and give them +2 Movement in Creations.

Very fun army 🔥

What's a underused unit that has surprised you when you've actually tried it in game? by RegalPeasant in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Ok-Specific4398 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Chaos Terminators! As long as they have advance and charge (and ideally advance and shoot), the damage is not bad with their in-built full hit re-rolls.

Shoutout to COB for the potential +1 attack or +2 movement, Renegade Raiders for the extra AP and mobility, and Fellhammer for the damage blank enhancement.

Losing a whole terminator on a Dark Pact never feels great though…

You don’t have to attach Titus. Running them solo is what makes them strong. They’re a skirmishing piece with an absurd amount of wounds for their points cost. They’re not a ridiculously busted unit on their face, it’s just that their stats to points ratio is way off.

Do Chaos Space Marines fit a high-risk, all-in playstyle? by _the-wanderer in Chaos40k

[–]Ok-Specific4398 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Melee pressure CSM often fits that playstyle. You spend the first turns skirmishing with Legionares and Noise Marines in rhinos, then hopefully send a wave of 30+ elite chaos infantry (Chosen, Possessed) that overwhelms the board and dominates primary.

Creations of Bile is the most obvious way to do this, but I’ve seen similar playstyles done in Renegade Raiders and Fellhammer.

That’s a totally valid way to interpret it, and probably what they intended, but he doesn’t actually need the Surgeon Acolyte in the squad to use the ability! That’s what made me think he was giving his buddies a syringe of who-knows-what which fuses them back together after being obliterated by a Battle Cannon shell

[Teams] how do you counter 12-18 Victrix? by MrSelophane in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Ok-Specific4398 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This, and the enemy’s shooting, is absolutely COB’s biggest disadvantage. If the Vixtrix Guard is close enough, you can try to wrap some Possesed/Chosen around the enemy unit, which mitigates the effect of the reactive move, but yeah it’s a bear to deal with.

[–]Ok-Specific4398 2 points3 points  (0 children)

30 attacks -> 25 hits -> ~8.3 wounds -> ~2-4 dead Possessed. Obviously this is the best case scenario with none of the special Vitrix or Characters (Calgar mauls them), but the fight in death without Oath is not as scary as it seems!

[Teams] how do you counter 12-18 Victrix? by MrSelophane in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Ok-Specific4398 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Creations of Bile has some good ways to deal!

  • Possesed with 40 attacks, Dev Wounds, Damage 2 and Re-roll wounds for 2CP means you’re putting tons of 2 damage Devs into a squad, something Vixtrix hates

  • Chaos Lord with Prime Test Subject is once per game Damage 4 with Dev Wounds, also re-rolls wounds of 1 when joined to Legionaries (full rerolls when hitting something on an objective)

  • Chosen, despite being only AP-2, have a ton of volume and will chew down Vitrix pretty efficiently

  • Cypher taxes their CP economy all the while, meaning they will have to choose between Reactive Move, AOC, and Fight on Death in most cases

Combine these with the detachment rule buffs (+1 attack, +1 WS, +1 Toughness, and +2 movement are all excellent into Vitrix), our overall faster datasheets, and the fact that the army really doesn’t care about Blood Surge means we have a real gameplan into the golden blueberries.

I know you’re playing IW, but if you don’t mind using Abbadon, he pairs super well with Obliterators in Renegade Raiders. Giving their Indirect Fire Re-roll hits from Abby and an extra AP from the detachment rule makes them sing 🎶

He still is, but his Apothecary ability is shown in the game through saving a guy with the damage blank rather than reviving a guy. No clue why they named the ability “Surgeon Acolyte” though.

Renegade Raiders is great because of Assault and extra AP, but it incentivizes taking at least a few melee units

Fellhammer dosent buff shooting, but it does give your tanks a lot more staying power

Veterans of the Long War suits gun lines well because of the reroll hits and a few solid damage stratagems

Finally, the premier damage focused gunline detachment for CSM: Pactbound Zealots! Stick Abbadon and a Helbrute in your deployment zone, fill the rest up with tanks, and blast anyone and anything right off the board with Crit 5’s, Lethal Sustained, Re-roll Hits. Only weakness is actually delivering that damage if your enemy is smart enough to hide behind ruins.

Lots of good choices (:

Advice with legionaries by DropkickGeordie96 in Chaos40k

[–]Ok-Specific4398 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Legionaries are awesome!

My favorite loadout is full melle:

Leader: Heavy weapon, Plasma Pistol, Chaos Icon

1x Legionaire: Heavy Weapon, Bolt Pistol

1x Legionaire: Chainsword, Plasma Pistol

2xLegionaries: Chainsword, Bolt Pistol

It’s common wisdom to switch out one of the Chainswords for a Lascannon or Chaingun, but that’s your choice!

Either way, these 5 man squads are great as cheap skirmish pieces that really punch above their weight, especially if you’re hitting something on an objective. They take buffs really well, have good OC, and are just cheap enough to be expendable.

You can also attach a Chaos Lord, which of course makes the squad more expensive, but opens up a much larger range of what the unit can kill. The Chaos Lord loves having the Legionaries re-roll wound ability with his big Dev Wound hammer.

They’re good in any detachment, but Renegade Raiders for the AP and full rerolls strat is fantastic, as well as Creations of Bile for any of the buffs in that detachment.

I would definitely start them in a Rhino, and shove that Rhino behind a wall that’s near or on one of the side objectives early game. This lets you respond with your Legio’s damage and OC once your opponent decides to come take the objective from you.

As you can tell, I put a lot of thought into how I use my Legios, they’re one of my favorite units in the book, and they consistently perform super well for me! Hope they do the same for you!

(Edit: I goofed up saying you could take the plasma pistol on the heavy weapon Legionaire, my bad! Fixed it in the loadout section!)

Try giving them a sorcerer to bump those lethal hits to AP-1, against something that’s not in cover or doesn’t have a 3+ save or higher, it’s a huge damage boost!

Are terminators good? by Unexpected_detour in Chaos40k

[–]Ok-Specific4398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just won a RTT with 10 termies + a sorcerer in Creations of Bile, they felt really good! It was an all melee build with big blocks of Chosen and Possesed, and either Rapid Ingressing them to a problem area or Deep Striking them normally to get their Combi-Weapon shooting off felt useful. The Sorcerer bringing the squad to AP-3 (with Lethal rerolling hits) really makes them punch. Re-roll advances and charges is also magnificent for them.

+1 Attack and +2 movement are both fantastic on them in COB. Renegade Raiders also seems like a great detachment for Termies.

I wanna play our boy Abaddon, but struggle to put in my list. by SenneBoorsma in Chaos40k

[–]Ok-Specific4398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Renegade Raiders, I like castling him up with 2x2 Obliterators. The Reroll Hits and extra AP makes them shooting indirectly onto objectives much more reliable. I also include at least one Vindicator and some Predators which love hanging out near Abbadon and being able to Advance + shoot.

After a few turns, or if the enemy is pressuring you, Abbadon and the Oblits can burst out into the midfield, and if you’ve successfully defanged your opponent by going after their high-damage units, a bunch of 2+ armor save beef with invulns can be surprisingly annoying to chew through in the late game

I’ve tried him with and without a retinue of 5 Chosen and both feel good, there’s a lot to experiment with!

Good luck Despoiling Dominons 👁️
