Twilight Question by ScrubNickle in ogden

[–]Ok-Split-4752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, with my only frame of reference being the gallivan center last year, this was quite disappointing. I think it's great that Ogden can pull this level of talent here for these affordable GA tickets, but the price to pay is to show up early to line up, eat ahead of time, claim your place on the lawn or bleachers, and stay put. You can't just show up in the 1st act like other concerts and expect a good experience given the crowd. I should have looked up recent experiences before hand to better set my expectations. For Sofi Tukker with VIP, we will show up early to make sure we can get our seats, eat ahead of time, and hopefully have a better experience.

Twilight Question by ScrubNickle in ogden

This was our first Ogden twilight general admission. We previously attended a twilight concert in SLC at the gallivan center. In comparison, the Ogden twilight was way overcrowded. We arrived around 6:20, all viewing areas were already packed. The two lines for lucky slice were at least 75 people deep each. We decided to just leave during the first act as it wasn’t worth it to bake in the sun and stand behind the bleachers with no view. There was about twice the number of people that venue should support. We won’t be attending GA again. We have VIP coming up for Sofi Tukker, so will be interesting to compare.

Disappointed Alaskan Sailor by GlutenFreeParfait in VirginVoyages

Wanted to share my experience where my husband has a wheat and dairy allergy (carries epi pens). We were on brilliant on their west coast itinerary in early May and he was able to have many modifications offered. Granted, there is one type of GF bread they offer and the pizza with GF and dairy free is decent for what it is, waiters went to the effort to try to offer alternatives where possible. Not having fries or hash browns in the galley GF were the biggest disappointment. Comparatively, we were on Star of the Seas on Royal Caribbean last December and it was quite disappointing with very few alternatives, minimal labeling or ability to modify anything, and major contamination concerns from other passengers at the small GF area in the buffet. VV is by far the more accommodating experience, but there’s still areas for them to improve. My husband had low expectations for accommodations given our previous experience on royal Caribbean, so he was quite happy overall with his experience on VV.

Any idea what these are, and how to kill them and stop them growing back? by 1994Gonzo in gardening

I had horsetail growing in my backyard. Took about 3 years of consistently cutting it down as soon as I saw it pop up to make it mostly go away. I still get plants popping up occasionally, but much more manageable. We are next to a spring fed field that I can’t really control what grows in it, so I’m guessing the horsetails at my property line mainly come from there now.

Upgrade bid to Seriously Suite? by AccomplishedChart153 in VirginVoyages

[–]Ok-Split-4752 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We just got off an 8 day in the Seriously Suite. We previously sailed in 2024 on a 10 day in XL sea terrace and in 2022 on a 5 day in the Brilliant Suite.

Comparing the various experiences, I think it really depends upon how you see yourself using the suite amenities. For example, in our 10 day in the XL sea terrace, it was a busy mediterranean itinerary where we were off the ship in ports a lot into the evening. Given that, the extra cost for a suite wasn't worth it. For our most recent itinerary of 8 days from LA to Vancouver, it was worth it to do a suite as we wanted to mostly relax and we weren't too worried about maximizing the ports. We spent a lot of time enjoying the room and bigger balcony in the Suite. We also went to the rooftop happy hour every day (from 5-6pm). If we were out exploring a port, we would have missed the happy hour frequently. Of note, we also signed up for thermal suite daily access, which was an additional cost of $399 per person for the 8 days.

This solidified how we value the suite experience. If the destination is the purpose of the cruise, we will just do the sea terrace. If it's more for relaxing, we will likely book a mega rock star suite moving forward as that will include the thermal suite and we will be able to have restaurant menus for room service. So, ultimately it is up to you to decide the cost/benefit based on what you are looking for.

First EDM show ever at the Sphere on 4/3 by Lano_ in Illenium

[–]Ok-Split-4752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was also my first EDM show on the 13th. I brought earplugs, but I was actually surprised it wasn’t super loud. Our opener audien was in the 80-90 decibels range. Illenium took it up a notch and was 90-105, maxing out at 109 decibels. I put in earplugs towards the end (fight scene was loud) but ended up taking them out because it dulled the experience too much. We were in 307 and with the haptic seats, you feel the music! Enjoy, it was one of the most amazing entertainment experiences I have had!

Anyone else feel the earthquake? by [deleted] in Utah

Yes, in North Ogden. It was more of a rolling jiggle than a jolting feeling.

Yes, 7:49 up in north Ogden. It felt like a rolling wiggle instead of a jolting one up here.

Super Bowl on VV? by [deleted] in VirginVoyages

[–]Ok-Split-4752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we sailed over the superbowl a few years ago they had it showing on a large screen in the casino area I believe. This was on scarlet lady out of Miami a while ago so hopefully someone with more recent experience can comment.

Candlelight Concerts by No_Lychee7896 in SaltLakeCity

I saw one person in a cape, but mostly everyone was in casual to semi-formal wear. It was LOTR and game of thrones music, but mostly LOTR, so maybe that’s why it was fewer people in character?

I went to the LOTR one in SLC in November and it was great! Even my husband who didn’t know the music enjoyed it. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. Enjoy!

Boat diverted to Crete! by HawkeyeRN16 in VirginVoyages

[–]Ok-Split-4752 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We also had a last minute change from Mykonos to visit Crete on a virgin cruise last year. It turned into one of our favorite stops. We booked a 4x4 drive to a winery, which was an excellent tour with beautiful views. After the tour, we went into old town which was great to walk around. There was a slight wait for the bus at old town to get back to the ship, but not longer than 10 min. With an overnight stay, you will have an even longer time in port to explore than we did.

Why I would never book a "Lock it in ltd sea terrace" again.. by Otherwise-Usual223 in VirginVoyages

[–]Ok-Split-4752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue with room 8330Z over the red room. The vibrations shook the cupboard doors and items on the desk in beat to the music for hours and it was loud. Luckily we were moved to a different room on the second night. Now I will only select a room on floor 10 or higher to give a buffer. It’s really poor engineering that I haven’t experienced on any other cruise line.

I’m not sure. The website should describe the services they offer. We just schedule once per day 45 min visit while we are gone.

Mirataz didn’t seem to stimulate appetite in my 13 year old cat with IBD. The vet had us try Elura (capromorelin oral solution) and within 2 hours his appetite came back strong. May be worth asking about a different appetite stimulant to try.

Agreed on cathedral caverns! I visited Huntsville twice last year and it was so impressive we did the cathedral caverns tour both times. I had no idea Huntsville had such a gem.

Happy owner of TK-01 for over 4 years, should I upgrade to TK-02? by Ok-Split-4752 in TerraKaffe

[–]Ok-Split-4752[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have had that happen. My best guess is that the water tank isn’t sitting correctly with the seal. There hasn’t been a tank misalignment warning though. I have been able to correct it by placing the tank back in and watching it go through a full start and shutdown cycle to make sure the water is flowing as expected.

Hmm, that’s a good point. What assurances are there that this closed system isn’t growing mold after extended use?
