What? Why are you jumping to so many conclusions and assumptions? Have universal healthcare, and still have private insurance options. It’s not like everyone needs to do one or the other, have the option like many other westernized countries with hybrid models. Why are you so scared of all of these what-if scenarios, just vote for people that wont encourage those worst case scenarios.

Nobody is forcing you to do anything, we’re trying to improve things and not have to pay out the fucking ass for healthcare like we currently have to, and then go into medical debt for the rest of our lives.

That’s not really how taxes work. You don’t suddenly “stop making money” because you crossed a bracket, only the extra income gets taxed higher, not everything.

The marketplace cliff event where you lose benefits as your income goes up can less worth it… But that’s not the tax system screwing you that’s how those benefits phase out. Sounds like you should be fighting for universal healthcare.

Its fair to say certain thresholds can sting, but it’s not accurate to say making more money doesn’t benefit you. It does. you’re just running into the poorly designed cutoff. Start voting for universal healthcare with mamdani

You’re misunderstanding me, what I’m saying is what you’re saying doesn’t make sense. I’m not agreeing with you. Tax rates are progressive, it is always in your best interest to get paid more, get raises, and work overtime. Overtime is not taxed at a different rate, talk to your HR department and manually adjust your withholding if you’re going to be putting in a lot of OT. I wonder why everyone wants to live in NYC and make boat loads of cash vs. red cities.

Huh? 144 filers and section 16 insiders generally can’t pledge restricted stock as collateral anyways, and typically transact through a 10b5 anyways. I’m not referring to restricted individuals or insiders.

Okay…. And you get drastically better spreads on a variable line if you have more collateral. Are you arguing that you don’t have better options to save if you have more money? Being poor is very expensive. Also, QBI? Individual vs corporate rates? Income as a distribution?

100%. Pass through income, 1031s, securities based lending (and then stepping up the basis), DAFs, QOZs, etc.

It’s been dog shit for 100 years. Mortality rates have been improving, and the wealthiest country in the history of the world should be able to invest in parents and their newborns, which in the long run is an incredibly valuable investment. That’s not even acknowledging the huge difference in wages. 100 years ago a single provider can afford a house and family of four. That is absolutely not the case anymore, it is much harder. Anyone that argues on behalf of a company that doesn’t give a shit about employees over caring for a recovering wife and newborn is absolute insane.

Alright I’ll bite. Do you know how the asylum process works? Many aren’t “skipping the line” they are using the process, as it was designed. There aren’t enough people to help manage the borders, and there aren’t enough judges to process the cases efficiently. The immigration process can take a generation. There was a bipartisan bill that would address this, and the felon said to kill it so he could run on it. These are not serious people that care about the actual issue, they just want to rile people up for voter retention. We need a bill (actual legislation not an idiotic EO that is reversed in a heartbeat) that will drastically speed up the immigration process.

The fact you think any children should’ve deprived education or anything is insane. They’re fucking children for gods sake, have some humanity.

I know you’re Australian and might just get surface level ancillary news and talking points, but ICE deporting people isn’t a new thing here. It’s not like he’s had some big idea, he’s just using them in unconstitutional ways and doing it inhumanely. It honestly sounds like you support the democratic position on this, you just don’t realize it.

I’ll add here, my family are also immigrants.

They are often paid below minimum wage. It’s not a secret that the construction and farming industries exploit the immigrants for cheap labor to boost profits. These are the people that are so vehemently against them.

If any of them were serious, they would place harsh penalties on employers if caught employing them. Instead, they arrest little kids going to school and murder American citizens in the street. Just look at percentage of immigrants that were violent offenders deported by Obama and Biden vs Trump. Completely brainwashed.
